message 552: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Not scary enough if you ask me, there's always some swine ready to hand out a 1 or 2 star review every now and then.

message 553: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments How very dare they.

message 555: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Ahead of their time; if Nigel Farage walked in on that sketch, he wouldn't look out of place.

message 556: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's actually quite accurate. Why do you think I was so desperate to get out of Nigeria?

It's so much better here.

Although the quality of cleaners is rather quite dismal... ;)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Have you seen the pic of you licking a belly that GL posted on Vanessa's thread?

*shudder*

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hey, Mike, meant to tell you about a book I read a while back.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Auschwitz-Doc...

Not cheap on kindle. I think I must have got it when it was free or something.

Anyway, it's very harrowing but really gives an incredible account of what was going on in the camps from the 'medical research' point of view.

I think you'd be interested.

message 559: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Thanks for the recommendation but I've actually already read it!

I agree with you when you say it's harrowing but it's fascinating as well.

message 560: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ha! Thought you might have read it.

message 561: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments It's my first blog post for quite some time but here you are!

Hulk Hogan reviews a chess piece

Oh and also a quick little boast about Saying Goodbye to Warsaw being shortlisted for the SpaSpa Awards over at Indie Book Bargains.

message 568: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Brief update about the fantasy story I'm writing:

It's a smidgen over 14k words at the moment and I've still got ideas in the tank for where it's going... though the route that links those ideas together is as hazy as it always is!

It's my first foray into the genre, one that I'm quite enjoying.

And sword fights are effin' brill.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You shouldn't have any problems finding beta readers from the group for it.

message 570: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Great fun venturing into a different genre, isn't it? Feels like shackles have been cast aside!

message 571: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments It's long way from being ready for beta reading - next year at least! Still got my 'proper' WIP story to be done yet...

David - yup and fantasy is quite unique when it comes to world building.

message 572: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Come on! Can't be quite unique any more than you can be slightly pregnant!

message 573: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Pffff, I didn't know my GR posts were being beta read as well!

message 574: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments We lurk, we betas...!

message 575: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The grammar police are worse than the library police, Mike.

Never know when we'll appear.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Avoid commas at all cost Mike

In fact play it safe and avoid all punctuation

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't be a smart arse Davey.

message 578: by David (last edited Jun 23, 2014 10:53AM) (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments But it's more… enjoyable. Yes! That's the word, enjoyable.

message 579: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh shit.

Do I now have to explain the use of capitals?

message 580: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments No, just the need for proofreading.

message 581: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I think you're more than aware of the need for proof reading, darling.

message 582: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I'm saying nothing.

message 583: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments That's probably for the best.

message 584: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Fancy a chilli dog there, Batman?

message 588: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Channel 5 last evening.

Hitler's Last Will and Testament.

You see it?

message 589: by Michael (last edited Jun 28, 2014 12:26PM) (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Oh, I get you.

Not to worry I've still got Columbia, the USA, and Mexico to cheer on.

I didn't see it, no, but CH5 stuff is usually poo.

message 590: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It was really good, actually. I think it was a BBC documentary that made it onto channel 5.

Shall I look on YouTube for you?

message 591: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You're cheering the States????

I don't think we can be friends if you're gonna cheer soccer.

message 592: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Not by choice! I bought five tickets for the sweepstake and they were one of the teams.

message 593: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments That's just not good enough.

message 594: by Michael (last edited Jul 04, 2014 01:43AM) (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Right, Bits of Cargill has been given a much-needed update!

The content is still the same but it reads much better now after enforcing some comma discipline within its pages. The blurb is also far more bullish than it was before.

The book is just a collection of articles from my website so if anyone fancies grabbing themselves (or their loved ones) a free copy then they can use the following Smashwords code:

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Some top chuffing news for me today... one of my books, Saying Goodbye to Warsaw, won the historical fiction category at this year's SpaSpa Awards!

Thanks to everyone who read it and voted for it.
