Hello Mary, Middlemarch came from our public library consortium through Overdrive Media Console and is a free download. GWTW versions through the library are abridged (horrible to do to a book) so I purchased mine through audible with a credit from membership or $14.95.

Right now I'm mostly reading vintage mystery -- traditional though not necessarily cozy. I just finished Lenore Glen Offord's series featuring married sleuths Georgina Wyeth and Todd McKinnon.

Disappointingly Georgina is missing from the final book which follows the adventures of her daughter and her husband. Despite that fact, it's probably the best book in the series.

The first one is actually by Melinda Snodgrass using a pen name. She was story editor on Star Trek The Next Generation during at least season 2. I have the second one in the series waiting to be read sometime soon. A Beautiful Heist was a fun read, if you like tales of jewel thieves with a dose of the Da Vinci Code tossed in the blender it should be up your alley.

Melinda is also a frequent contributor to George RR Martin's Wild Cards series. (Thankfully, being re-released in E book format) Yes he had/has a series other than The Song of Fire and Ice aka The Game of Thrones

Some people, current company excluded, get tunnel vision and think the author only wrote the series they know. Robert Jordan wrote at least 5 or 6 Conan novels in addition to The Wheel of Time Series. Martin has had a long career as an SF writer prior to Game of Thrones. John Jakes was primarily known as fantasy and SF author before he ever set pen to paper to write The Bastard, which was the first of The Kent Family Chronicles. The late great Elmore Leonard, who lived not too many miles from where my office sits wrote westerns before he became known for his crime novels.

I hope you enjoy it. I thought it was an amazing book. Part courtroom drama, part psychological thriller -- and put together in a very unique way. I keep hoping the author will publish another one soon.

Well, I have a few reads going on at the same time - go from one book to the other -- just finished Edenbrooke that was not a very good regency....in middle of Queen of Spies - a nonfiction about spies in England which is a good read; Odd Brother (TBR stack for the whole series!!) and The Advocate by Randy Singer - just began that one!! And started a cozy - 1st one by Rosie Genova - Murder and Marinara!!
