Mick (mickanick) | 13 comments MrsJ, thanks for your hard work. Your efforts are appreciated!

I had a bit of a problem finding something I wanted to vote for (missed it scrolling down), so I just did a search for the author's last name.

Now I'm second-guessing my choices! LOL!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Hi all.

I checking the poll today I have noticed quite a few entries by non-FA members. All votes by non-FA members will be discarded so I suggest - if you want your vote to count - that you use your real and full Goodreads name.

message 54: by Betsy (new)

Betsy | 3 comments Voting on this list made me realize just how much of a fantasy 'beginner' I am! I'm excited that I have so many new series and books to discover =D

true enough! I'm not a beginner and there are still many left to read... thank goodness the writers are so prolific!

Ok, I have a name and a GR user name...the survey asked for user name...that's what I used to vote...but maybe that was wrong? I'm confuzzled...or am I?

No, the problem are people like this: (this is an example only, I am not using a real person)

GR name: BluePollyJP
Name written to go with vote: JP

I can't locate JP but I can locate BluePollyJP

message 58: by Traci (new)

Traci Is it a problem to use first and last name if you go by only the first here?

message 59: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Traci wrote: "Is it a problem to use first and last name if you go by only the first here?"

as long as I can find you.

If you go to the "members" page: http://www.goodreads.com/group/member...

this is the list I will work off of.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) I just used Colleen instead of the whole silly title. Is that ok?

message 61: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments ± Colleen of the Crawling Chaos ± wrote: "I just used Colleen instead of the whole silly title. Is that ok?"

You're the only Colleen. :-) Sides which, GR's search is silly and you'd have to put in those icons, too.

message 62: by Viv (new)

Viv JM Voted but made me realise just how many fantasy books I have yet to read - looking forward to seeing the results of this poll so I can prioritise the catching up :-)

Thanks Mrs J for organising this, you must have put in a lot of work. Much appreciated!

Good point. And then I'd have to look up how to do them again. Heh. :>

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments That leaves me with 183 books still on the list. Other than the top 17 books, none of the other books have more than 20 votes.

I don't think that makes for a very good top 100 list, do you?

Do you want to run another poll for the current 183 books to narrow it down some? I think I do.

message 85: by Traci (new)

Traci IMO it's up to you. You did most of the work. So I'm good with whatever you decide. :)

carol. | 2616 comments MrsJoseph wrote: "Do you want to run another poll for the current 183 books to narrow it down some? I think I do...."

Up to you. I like the idea though, if we are really going to make it a "top 100." Maybe take everything but the first 17 and run them off again, only pick 20 or something.

This sounds like a good idea to me. I know when I did my voting there were books that I really like, but had to give preference to the ones that I thought were really the best.

It's up to you, but I agree with Carol. Take off the front runners and we'll narrow it down amongst the rest.

message 89: by Kara (new)

Kara (sterlink) | 143 comments Sounds like a plan. =)

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with Carol.

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 861 comments I think Carol's plan is a good one, too.

message 92: by Mach (new)

Mach | 572 comments Why can't you remove the bottom 83? and if there are alot of books with the same amount of votes that are ranked a little under or a little over 100 place
we vote on those books to se who makes the top hundred.
For exaample if book 83 to 112 have the same amounts of votes, we do a vote on them and the winners get on the top hundred.

message 93: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (last edited Oct 05, 2011 06:48AM) (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I was thinking about removing the top 5 - they have the majority of votes - and removing all the books with only "0" or "1" votes. Then we can poll on the rest.

The reason I say the top 5 and not the top 10 or 20 is that other than the top 5 - no single book has more than 30 votes. In fact, there is a sharp downward spike from the 5th book to the 6th book.

Any complaints? If no, I'll start the new poll shortly.

message 94: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (versusthesiren) | 357 comments I think that's a good idea. :D Thanks for putting so much time into this!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) That sounds like good logic to me, MrsJ.
