September - Pick It For Me! Challenge

I just finished reading " A lot like love" by Julie James and it has inspired me to go ahead and read other books by her ! Thanks a lot for the great pick :)

Since I still have the month in hand, I am thinking of starting on another of your picks... maybe

I just finished Magic Bites. I gave it three stars--but the gore probably put it at 2 1/2. I kept finding myself reading it at meals which I definitely do NOT re..."
I used to read a lot of Stephen King but Pet Sematary did me in. I remember having to go read it in the university library so there would be people around me....

I'm truly glad that you've enjoyed this book. Indeed, I really like this couple, they are amazing together.
Also, I'm happy that you've found a new author to love. Hope you'll enjoy your other picks as well *smile*

Glad you enjoyed them Kathryn!

Sure! Towards mid month works better for me. I'm starting a buddy read tomorrow and I have several library books to read as well. :)
I'll open a thread so we can coordinate with Jane, which actually recommended me HH to read this month. :)

I hope you find a few that you like. I'm sorry I couldn't do this sooner but I didn't get your friend acceptance until this afternoon. You may get another set of books from Beth so enjoy them all if you do!

I'll probably read a couple of the others you recommended (the In Death series has been on my list for some time now) but I don't know if it'll be in September.
In any case, thanks again for the recommendation! One book to go to finish the series! (I'm in a frenzy to finish some of the series I've started lately... Thanks for helping with that even if you didn't know you were! ;))

Thank you so much Jen for doing my picks. :) I am going to read When You Dare and Water for Elephants and if i have time, The Postmistress

I loved this book, too. It was the first one from my picks list that I read, and I read it practically in one sitting. I was so impressed that when I went to a bookstore a day later, I bought the next one in the series. I had put it off for a long time because of its 'sci-fi' designation in some of the reviews, but I didn't think it seems to be that way much at all. Now I know why people are raving about that series!

Thank you for your picks.

Thanks so much for the recommendation for A Wrinkle in Time. I read it over the holiday weekend (along with several other books for another challenge). I really enjoyed it and kept thinking about how I would have loved it as a young girl.
I'll also be borrowing The Hunger Games from my sister. Both my sister and niece added their recommendation to yours.
By I think I'll start Spying in High Heels next. I need some humor before heading back to work after the holiday.

Keep reading these. There is a short story on her web site which is a passing through from the ghost's perspective and a second book already released. I really liked both!

Reading

While I am waiting for my library holds to come in, I decided to read
Reckless that you picked from my TBR. So far, it's pretty good.

I loved, loved, loved Spying in High Heels! I sat down and read it start to finish today. I'll definitely be reading more in that series. Thanks so much for the great recommendation!

Glad you enjoyed it. I love how everyone has a different fave in that series :) I can't wait for Kiss of Snow either, but I probably won't get it till Christmas time :(

I know that poison is a common theme but I promise they are both very different and equally good,Happy reading I hope you find something you like :D

Steph, resident evil genius at SOS, moderates the game. Participants are divided up into teams, which are then assigned a bingo card. The spaces are made up of different GR shelf labels (i.e. Shifters, demons, alpha-males). Each week, Steph chooses a shelf by randomizer. Players browse the shelf, pick a book and read it. (The team doesn't all have to read the same book, just one off the picked shelf.) As soon as all members have posted a rating and review in the team thread, we get a stamp on that space. First with 5 in a row wins.
This is actually my third time playing and it's lots of fun. Every time, teams are remixed and interest keeps growing. Currently 7 teams of 6 are playing in round 3. Luckily this weeks shelf is supernatural and Accidental Werewolf made its way onto one of the 221 pages. LOL.
FYI. In between rounds 2 and 3 of bingo, we played a version of team connect 4 that was incredibly fast paced. The quicker your team finished reading, the quicker you could drop your chip. Seriously intense and required strategic thinking on placement.
ETA: I just noticed KarenF replied in msg 668 and she even included links. :D

I've read 12 of the top books...of the ones I havent read, I started two but stopped reading them, one I don't think I'll ever read and the other two are on my TBR.

The ones I stopped reading were Magic Bites and Bitten. I just wasn't into them AT ALL but I haven't put them in my DNF shelf because so many people like them that I'd like to give them a second chance.
I don't have any interest in Vampire Academy.

DG, you definitely have to give Magic Bites another chance.

I just finished 'Dead Pan' by Gayle Trent. It was good but I didn't think it was quite as good as her first one, 'Murder Takes the Cake.' I liked it enough that I hope she writes more. The main character is a cake baker, so reading these books makes me want to eat cake!
Two done on my list of picks, and I am definitely going to read more by the end of the month.
Thanks again for such good picks!

Mercy Thompson is my favorite UF series, bar none.

I listened to it several months ago and thought it was amazing! The narrators, one for old Jacob and one for young Jacob, were both excellent!
