Guild Hunter is nothing like her P-C series, so maybe you'll have better luck w/it. I've read a few of the Darkyn books. They weren't bad, but nothing special, IMO. Enjoy whichever you choose!

Hi teamies! I'm back, we just got home and I'm suffering from massive sleep deprivation and too much partying--I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. ;)

But I finished my book on the plane, so I just wanted to pop in with a short and sweet review. I haven't read any posts, I'll pick my next book sometime tomorrow, we have a dumb football jamboree thingy, so I have a day full of "pre-season" football games, but worst case scenario, I'll catch up on posts from work on Monday. :)

This was a nice book choice for the dark shelf. It's a YA, but still dark & gruesome, with blood & guts & demons. I'm sure I'll read more in the series, it's a nice change of pace from the happy, sparkly YA stuff out there.

Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs - 13 Aug 11 - ★★★★

I chose this book because I finally stated this series last fall.

I really liked this book. I like Mercy and her world.

All the readers who shelved this under "dark" made a good call. Though I would never classify this series as "light and cheery", it seemed a much darker book than the first one.

One of the reasons I liked this series so far, is that I was a Kate Daniels fan first -- and both Kate and Mercy have such similar personalities, especially when it comes to pulling the whiskers *ha* of certain domineering, alpha men.

And it's her interactions with Adam that tells me that Samuel is/never was going to be her mate. She may care for Samuel like family and still love him in a way, but it's Adam that push her buttons and drives her to distraction.

(I may have to go back and read the first book again. Why is Stephen obsessed with Scooby-Doo? I couldn't remember. . .)

I think this is one of my favorites...tortured hero and (to a lesser extent) heroine. Not sure how I will feel about reading the next book (Regin's) considering the "hero" in that one is the one who tortured in in this one (at least from reading the back cover).

I finished on 8/16/11 and give it 4*'s. I loved Dorian and Ashaya's story. It was great to see Dorian recover from his guilt and to see the love Ashaya had for her son. This was probably my favorite so far, but that could also be because it is the one I have read most recently :)

The usual crew is back, and Riley is holding her own. She's training as a Guardian, though somewhat reluctantly. As she and the crew chase after THE bad guy, there's lots of action~both hot and tense. Looking forward to Riley's next story!

I'm here! Having a crazy week. Just put the kiddos on the bus for their first day of school. Phew. We got back Saturday night, had a day of football games Sunday, I worked 10 hours Monday, spent Tuesday back to school shopping, and worked 9 hours yesterday. And every single night I'm working on these stupid cheer bows. I have 20 done, and my mom is coming over today to help me, since I have to have 80 by 6pm tomorrow, which is 34.5 hours away. I see an all-nighter in my future...

I started on Sunday for the Alpha Male shelf, but these frickin' bows are like a monkey on my back. Why do I volunteer for these things, knowing what a horrible procrastinator I am? So I'm a little more than half way through it, but I will be free and clear come 8pm tomorrow and will either finish it tomorrow night or Saturday at the latest.

And then I have nothing. No kids home during the day, no vacations, no stupid hairbows. Back to 15 hours a week of work, and lots of ME time. ;)

Off to update the updates--Judithe, you're off the hook. :)

Tell me about it Cindy. I am the worst. In my defense, I was waiting on some ribbon that took 27 days to get here, but...I had most of my ribbon and could have at least started cutting and heat sealing the ends. But I didn't.

I'm making those bows that aren't really even bows, they're more like ribbon streamers. I'm using 15 different ribbons, and I layer them and sew them together at the middle point, then sew the pony-o on and wrap and glue a knotted ribbon around the sewn part. But our colors are red, white and blue, so I got lots of cool patriotic ribbon, stars, RWB stripes, silver ricrac, red glitter ribbon, etc. They look pretty sweet, if I do say so myself. I hope they like them--the trend I see online for cheer bows is these enormous suckers, but I think these will looks super cute swinging around their ponies. Plus, us Yankees don't go so big with the hairbows--at least we didn't when I used to make & sell them on ebay before Grace started kindergarten and I started back to work. :)

So they're not hard to make, just lots and lots of time. I figured out last night how many ribbons I had to cut and heat seal the ends:

80 bows x 15 ribbons each = 1200 lengths of ribbon to measure & cut
1200 ribbons = 2400 ends to heat seal

I was a little machine. At least I caught up on my True Bloods--I had only watched the first one of the season. :)
