Change...I couldn't read @ the baseball game on my phone~too bright! So, took a book to read for another challenge. Found it on page 2 of "Dark" shelf, so re-reading ...forgot a lot in 4 years, and really need to refresh my memory before going to see part 2 (now, having "Ah ha" moments about part 1...which I need to re-watch in ENGLISH!)

Funny moment, as you know(or not), the book is 700 plus pages. Read a bit, watched baseball a bit (our team won all three~HOORAY!), served tea, ran to the conveni for lunch, and got about 170 pages into it. Marked my place as we were getting ready to do clean up and head back home, and the mom sitting next to me looked at it, and freaked...."you read all that?!?!?!" Hmm? Japanese books are the reverse...so she was thinking I'd read the BIG section~530 pages plus.

I picked this book because I've been wanting to read this author for awhile. I have her contemporary romance trilogy books in my TBR as well as the second Eternal Guardians.

I really enjoyed the world building based on Greek mythology. The Argonauts -- descendants of seven heroes -- protect Argolea, the place Zeus had set aside for those descended from the Olympian gods.Theron, descended from Heracles, is the leader of the Argonauts. He's loyal and dedicated to his duty. He doesn't care much for humans, so he's a little thrown when he finds himself attracted to the human female, Casey, who saved his life. Theron gets an even bigger shock when he learns that the king of Argolea has been keeping a huge secret from the Argonauts and his subjects: Princess Isadora will die if a certain prophecy isn't fulfilled. And worse, Casey is tied to the prophecy. Theron has to choose between his duty to Argolea and the woman he's fallen in love with.

I plan to continue this series.

Who hasn't read HP yet? Especially with the final installment of the movie-HP, everyone basically knows the story and the end. (Still haven't told son WHO Harry (view spoiler)[marries down the road, (hide spoiler)] but he'll find out when we go see it~soon!) I eagerly read the later books as they came out, but it has been years, and I had forgotten SO much. It was interesting to "visit" Harry's mind again, and see him struggle to sort out his own view of the world against the background of secrets and various unknown factors, not unlike what we all do as we become adults (and through out our lives~though with much less dramatic fireworks, etc.)

This book is so different from the first in the series. I wasn't sure how much "to my taste" it would be, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some scenes were very uncomfortable, and the first half of it, I could see scenes from the movie which felt rather weird. Overall, a great wrap-up, and nicely dramatic conclusion!

I put a bookmark in the spot where they split (movie-wise) and told co-workers, "Everything before the bookmark is Part 1" (huge chunk of the book). They were surprised and asked if the second movie was shorter. And of course, I did get a least one person ask me I'd read that much already (no, I had the book with me to refresh my memory before watching the movie).

I finished on 8/8/11 and give it 4*'s. Reading Clay's story was great. I loved getting to know more about him and see his history. As I neared the end of the book I wondered how they would wrap up Tally's story with so few pages left. Though I had a feeling it would do something with her history, I was a little disappointed with how quickly they wrapped that up. Other than that though, I loved this story. I really enjoy this series, and wish I could pick up the next book right away, but I have a bunch of books checked out from the library that I need to get read before they are due.

Hostage to Pleasure by Nalini Singh - 8 Aug 11 - ★★★★

Though this one isn't one of my favorites, I still enjoyed it more than Slave to Sensation.

I liked the fact that Ashaya was so different, that she was less Psy, almost normal, because she had strong attachments. It didn't feel like I was reading a rehash of Lucas and Sascha or Vaughn and Faith. Ashaya had emotions, but was forced to keep them hidden to remain safe.

I found I was more interested in Ashaya's issues than Dorian's, though both had complex problems: Ashaya dealing with Amara, Keenan and her growing attraction to Dorian. And, in his case, his struggle with falling for a Psy, a race that harbored the killer who murdered his sister; plus his leopard, due to the mating dance, clawing at him more and more, trying to come out.

In a way, I'm happy I started this series after it was well established. There is so much going on and so many characters to remember, that I glad I can read them almost back-to-back. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I went to school in TX. As much as I miss living there, I do not miss the heat! I'll gladly keep my 70-80 degree summer. Though I do miss almost every business having a drive-thru.

Drive-thrus are AWESOME!!!! Especially when it 100+ in the shade. Just pull up, roll down your window only long enough to pay and get your food. Go home and enjoy!

There was a beer barn I used to frequent when I was in college. Pretty sure there are still 1 or 2 here in Austin. The part of town I am in now thinks they are too good for such things.... IIRC, there is a place in South Austin that sells cigarettes with a drive-thru. Now if we could only get a bookstore with one.....

might just go with the shortest book, or the one I can find at the UBS.
