Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Sleep well dear Penney. See if that dear husband of yours can't make the yeses glaze for a better reason. And for the record, you are certainly worth the wait too. :-) (see, I'm not always snarky and sarcastic)

Debbie - you are meant to be working - not commenting!! ;)

Anyone for a drink? How's the Bar coping with the influx?

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Doing the drinking just fine here Jane. Jack Daniels #7 is keeping me company whilst I try to forget that an old guy like me can't spend a day at the waterpark and not end up sore.

message 313: by Amy J. (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments A flat white is a coffee beverage from Australia and New Zealand. It is prepared by pouring microfoam (steamed milk from the bottom of a pitcher) over a single (30ml) or double shot (60ml) of espresso. It is similar to the latte and the café au lait and like other espresso based beverages it can be interpreted various ways.

I have two children. They are 16 and 18. They, along with my wife and I, spent a wonderful day riding waterslides, riding the lazy river, hanging out in the hot tub, and learning to surf on the wave. A good time was had by all. And for the two hours my wife and I slipped away, abandoning our mostly grown children to go back to the resort room, a better time was had by some than others. *Yeah, I know TMI, but I'm enjoying my Jack and waiting on pairings thank you.*

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments AshleyAlexis, I took your GoodRead friend count, I set up groups and matched them with the opposite... (example: those with 0 friend count are paired with our members that have 264, 327, 418 or 456 friends here on GoodReads) The meet in the middle have around 28 - 32 GoodReads friends, which is where you fall, just get to pick for each other.

Make sense or am I too tired to type? Wonder if Jim saved me any Jack? :)

MountainKat | 31593 comments Here you go Miss! I tried to pick as much as possible from your to-read list. I hope you can find something you like!

Friends: Open Season by Linda Howard. This book was recommended for a discussion by several friends. I thoroughly enjoyed it! A really good book with lots of humor!

Romance: Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. You gave a lot of stars to other SEP books you have read, I think you will like this one too!

Intense: Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare. I recently read this book and loved it so much I am in the middle of the second in the series right now!

Emotions: The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks. This book grabbed my emotions from the first chapter and didn't let go even when I was finished! Great book!

New: Flat-Out Sexy by Erin McCarthy. First book in a hot series! When I read this book, I loved the hero so much that I literally had to make a list of all the things I loved about him and this book so I wouldn't forget them! The title says it all!

Don't Forget: Desire Unchained by Larissa Ione. You liked the first one in the series - read the next one! I loved the entire series, the books just got better and better!

Support One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. I have been putting off starting this series forever, but I will read it with you!

Bonus: Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts. Great friendship, great romance. Read all three, the conclusion is amazing!

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments Hey Isabella
That is good that you are open to suggestions, I have some for you.....

Friends: The Hunger Games - you actually have Mockingjay on your tbr, but I don't see where you have marked HG. Really need to start with the first of this series if you haven't already. If you have I would suggest you continue, (psst, I hear they are making a movie of it due out in 2012)

Romance: Garden Spells - I personally don't go a Pick it Challenge without recommending a Sarah Addison Allen, she has quickly become one of my favorite romance authors. She adds just a touch of magic/superstition to it but it is overall just a cute romance.

Intense: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella - High marks on all of the Twilight Saga books leave me wondering if you might like this short addition to it. It takes place between New Moon and Eclipse with the ending of the book coinciding with the big battle in Eclipse, I think I read it in one sitting. For some strange reason I just had to know what happened to her.

Emotional: The Notebook - Something about Nicholas Sparks, I see you have this one on your tbr and I just read it not to long ago so I remember going through the kleenex.

New: Hush, Hush - You have a couple young adult books on your list so this one might fit in, I really enjoyed it. It is a little different than most of the books on your shelf, but I maybe not.

Don't Forget: The Lovely Bones - Again, happens that I recently read this one. Not one that I would normally recommend, I am more of a romance reader and this one is not a romance, but since you have it on your tbr I will this time.

Support: The Shack - I have been told this one is really good, I have thought about reading it, so if you are interested in reading this one off your tbr, I will locate a copy and read it with you this month.

Bonus: Firefly Lane - All about friends growing up together. Such a dramatic story of their lives, their loves and their losses. Really good and even though it has some romance in it, it is primarily about friendship.

Ok, I hope you can find something in there that strikes you right. If not I can find a few more.

That is great, did you make your recommendations yet?
Let me know if you pm-ed so that I don't put your new friend in the re-mix.

message 342: by Tania (new)

Tania | 644 comments Here are my picks for ErinReadsTooMuch:

You didn't have a huge TBR list so I've done my best, hopefully you'll find something in here you'll enjoy reading:

Friends - A very good friend recommended I pick up Dark Lover but it took a Pick It For Me Challenge to actually get me to read it. And I am sooooo thankful that they did.

Romance - Who does Romance better than Nora. I can't believe you haven't finished the Brides series yet! Get reading Happy Ever After - it doesn't disappoint!

Intense - I think you're reading The Fellowship of the Ring if you haven't read it yet then leave it until the 1st and use if for this, otherwise follow it up with The Two Towers

Emotions - Grimspace - this entire series has heart and soul and is beautifully crafted. It's a pick yourself up when someone knocks you down type of read.

New - Flat-Out Sexy is the start of a great contemporary series that I was recommended and loved!

Don't forget - You've loved all the Outlander books so why don't you read Hellfire or In Over Her Head looks interesting.

Support - Beyond the Highland Mist looks like a great read.

Bonus - Bet Me is a fantastic book and one of my favourite pick me ups. Even though there's a great romance in it the story of the three women's friendship is central to the whole story!

message 343: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments For Shelley

Friends : pick a book that has been recommended to you by a friend (GR or real life) either here on a previous PIFM or through any other challenge, preferably a book that you have read and enjoyed

Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon

Romance : (we are the Romance Readers Reading Challenge group), so this selections should be one of your favorite romance books whether it is contemporary, historical, paranormal, etc.

Full Moon Rising (Riley Jenson Guardian, #1) by Keri Arthur

Intense : make this selection not just based on the overall enjoyment of the book, but find one that caught your attention and made it so difficult to put down from the beginning or even just the end, it should be one of those ‘all consuming’ type books

Crave (The Fallen Angels, #2) by J.R. Ward

Emotions : any book that has evoked a strong emotional response to you, any type of emotion, this could be the ‘get the tissue box’ tearjerker, the ‘laugh out loud’ hilarious, or a ‘scare your pants off’ spooky

The Host by Stephenie Meyer

New : New, New, New - new author, new title or new genre, something that your potential friend hasn’t tried yet but that you have really enjoyed and would like to share

Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

Don’t forget : this choice should come straight off their TBR, choose a book that has been hanging around for a while but that you feel should be bumped up - if they don‘t keep a tbr the choice can be another highly recommended book that would fit into any of the other categories

Jacob (Nightwalkers #1)by Jacquelyn Frank (Added to the TBR on April 25 2008)

Support : Buddy read - make a recommendation for a book that you will read with your potential new friend, something that you would like the extra push to help you make the decision to read or something that you are planning on reading this month and think that the other will like as well based on what you have heard about it. A great way to find a book that both of you want to read is to use the compare button.

River Marked by Patricia Briggs

Bonus : Find a book that could be considered (what I like to call “friendship fiction”) a book that is mainly about friends whether there is romance, adventure, suspense as long as there is a friendship in the main character rolls

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)by Richelle Mead

Fran | 12278 comments Hi MountainKat!

I hope you find something you like- if not, just let me know and I would be happy to pick some more. I have a bunch of the ones I have recommended to you on my kindle lendable list and would be happy to lend you anything you found interesting. I put an * next to anything lendable.

1. Friends- Recommended to me from friends on GR-
Do Over by Mari Carr- a romantic, sexy short story about rekindling a wilting marriage- love it.
Master of the Mountain*- on your tbr and very good.

2. Romance- one of my favorite romances is Mountain Dreams *by Cheryl Holt- just an all around feel good book, a contemporary and different for Cheryl Holt. Also Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis- another great contemporary with great characters and a sweet love story.

3. Intense- Comfort Food *by Kitty Thomas- intense master/slave abduction story, you will remember this one for awhile! No Place to Run- on your tbr and looks intense.

4. Emotions- Untouched by Anna Campbell- I just remember thinking I'd never read anything quite like it, it's different and really good, I love Anna Campbell. A Lot Like Love- looks like emotions would ride high, and it's on your tbr.

5. New- Goodnight Tweetheart by Teresa Medeiros- I recently read this and just loved it. A new author for you. Darkfever by KMM- I read the whole series in two weeks- awesome! A new series by an author you have read.

I hope you find something MountainKat!

Fran

Gigi | 1149 comments Hi Cathy S.

I hope you find something you like. Let me know if you've read any of the books noted below and I will pick again.

Friends: Dying Bites by D.D Barant
Romance: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley. I don't read much PNR so my favorite books are mostly HR's. This is a different spin on HR's- both H/h do not fit the stereotypical HR hero and heroine.
Intense: Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian
Emotion: Cry No More by Linda Howard
This romantic suspense book was an awesome emotional roller coaster.
New: Ice Queen by Joey W. Hill
Don't Forget: Crave by J.R. Ward
Your only TBR book.
Support: The Passage by Justin Cronin
Bonus: Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Happy reading!

MountainKat | 31593 comments Fran, thank you for the great picks!! I plan to read several books on the list, but I want to read them all! I know I will read No Place to Run, A Lot Like Love and Shoulda Been A Cowboy! I am so tempted to read Lover Unleashed with you, I probably am not going to be able to wait until the price comes down anyway. Several others also sound really good and I want to try to read them too! Thanks again!

message 348: by Cacophony (new)

Cacophony | 102 comments Hi Gigi
I noticed you had a pick it for me tbr and a regular tbr. I looked at both of them, and I recommended a couple things that weren't on your list. I hope there is something here for you for April!

Friends : Absolutely, Positively – Jayne Ann Krentz
This was recommended to me when I was still in high school. It made me a lifelong fan of Jayne Ann Krentz and all of her pseudonyms.

Romance : A Summer to Remember – Mary Balogh
The beginning of a delightful series.

Intense : Annie’s Song – Catherine Anderson
I started this when I was supposed to be doing something else and I just had to finish it. Its not suspenseful in the classic sense, but it is very compelling.

Emotions : Dying to Please - Linda Howard
I am a big Linda Howard fan and this book has humor, suspense, and romance.

New : Moon Called-Patrica Briggs
This is the first in the Mercedes series. I read this series in January and then again in February because I didn’t want to say good bye to the characters, and then the new installment came out in March…

Don’t forget : Simple Jess – Pamela Morisi
This was at the bottom of your to read pile, but it is a wonderful romance with a heartwarming twist.

Support : Buddy read – The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins
I have been meaning to read this and I have heard many good things about it.

Bonus: The Shop on Blossom Street – Debbie Macomber

message 350: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 1511 comments AshleyAlexis,

Looks like I get to pick for you two months in a row. Hopefully you'll like something out of this batch better than the last one. I stayed mostly away from UF this time. :)

Friends - Mouth to Mouth by Erin McCarthy. I haven't read this yet, but my friend says its steamy and based off your shelves, you seem to enjoy a higher steam level.

Romance - The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAlister. Probably not my all-time favorite, but it did get 5 stars and seems to be the most likely that you would enjoy and/or would be able to find from my 5 star romance reads. It is based around a group of people filming a reality show based in historical times and is quite humorous.

Intense - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Once the games start, you won't be able to put this book down.

Emotions - PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. Be prepared to cry as a young widow learns to get on with her life.

New - I'm going to give you a choice of a couple of mysteries here. Truly, Madly by Heather Webber is mystery-light with a slight paranormal twist. Or you can start reading about Eve and Roarke in Naked in Death by J.D. Robb. This is set about 50 years in the future and has a tough policewoman and a charming, rich ex-thief.

Don't Forget - I haven't read much on your TBR, so I'm going to recommend The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson based on how popular it has been in this challenge the last couple of months.

Support - I see you read Fantasy Lover and have Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon on your TBR. You should really start with Kyrian's story in Night Pleasures and I'd be happy to re-read it with you. BTW, the Dark Hunter books are nothing like Fantasy Lover.

Bonus - Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer. Even though Agnes is cranky, she has a lot of good friends who help her out it this madcap tale. You enjoyed Crusie and Mayer's first book, so why not give this one a try.

Mouth To Mouth by Erin McCarthy The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAlister The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) by Heather Webber Naked in Death (In Death #1) by J.D. Robb The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie
