20.10 Group ReadSince I have already read all 3 of the book Group Reads, I re-read The Giver by Lois Lowry. I enjoyed it much more the second time around since I have finished the trilogy and appreciate the set up more for the next two books in the series. My favorite one out of the 3 is Gathering Blue, the second book in the series.

Promises to Keep: A Novel by Jane Green
This book is very sad because a main character gets really sick and you see how it affects various family members. Now that I am a mother, books like that affect me even more so, because it is harder to imagine being sick with little kids.

The Left Hand of God by Paul Hoffman, 372 pages finished 12/6/2010.
OK my pet peeve requires a little explanation! One my way to work, there is a particularly busy intersection. I have to turn left at this intersection. Despite the city working on the intersection twice, and increasing the lanes from 2 to 4, people still block the LEFT HAND turn lane! They don't bunch up to allow as many people as possible to get in the lane, and they tend stay out of the farther lane to the right, which blocks the LEFT HAND turning lane even more. I know y'all didn't quite understand that, but I feel better!

HAHAHA!!! I totally understand what you mean...we have quite a few turns around here where they do that.
I think we should start a list of everyone's pet peeves that this task reveals. It should be interesting. This is a great task!

Yes, I think the pet peeve task is great. To me, pet peeves are not big things like "I hate world hunger" or I hate war". They should be the little exasperating things of life, that listed in the aggregate like this will be hilarious...I see a book idea forming.
