Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Finished Wicked Lovelyon 9/1/11 and give it 4 1/2 stars. Really different type of Fae book.

message 204: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished The Sky Is Everywhere today 9/14. It was beautifully written, heart-breaking and ultimately hopeful. I cried through the entire book. 5*.

13 Little Blue Envelopes (Little Blue Envelope, #1) by Maureen Johnson
Finished 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson. It was a cute book. There was no real character development for the main character but I liked reading about the aunt and her life. I think she should've written another book from the Aunt's perspective, I think I would've enjoyed it more.

Ana OMG I just accidentally saw that I am reading a book just now, that's on this list ..So can I enter too...I will be finished till tomorrow - 27th September.

Ananda, I hope you like it as much as I did! Did you need tons of tissues too?

message 208: by Ana (new)

Ana Fran, I do like it..it's so easy to read but isn't the girl code broken in the worst possible way? (view spoiler) I got through 100 pages of the book, will there be crying a lot??? OMG, thanks for warning me on this:) I will write later on what's my overall opinion on the book.:)

You kind of get the reason why by the end, but yes, that was hard to deal with. (view spoiler). I just felt her pain through the whole book, her misery at losing her sister.

message 210: by Ana (last edited Sep 26, 2011 09:08AM) (new)

Ana Aha! Well I sure am waiting for that part, so I could understand more, because though I feel so sorry for Lennie, it's kinda hard to understand (view spoiler). But I am patient..will wait for the end..and promise to have some extra tissues around me:)

You definitely can.

message 212: by Ana (new)

Ana Ok, I finished The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson and rated it 3 stars. I must admit, though I did feel for Lennie, there were few things really bothering me with the story. I somehow had the feeling the author was trying to show a teenage perspective, while forgetting what it was like being a teenager. I don't know..maybe I am mistaken on this..yet I am a bit disappointed. I love the cover though:)

message 213: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments LOL Ananda- glad you liked the cover! Maybe it was just my mood when I read it, but it did make me emotional.

Ana Fran wrote: "LOL Ananda- glad you liked the cover! Maybe it was just my mood when I read it, but it did make me emotional."

But then again..maybe, it was my mood in question..LOL. Anyways, I don't have a sister..but there are some things I can never forgive Lennie :) And in stead of enjoying the book, I was constantly seeking for something to approve her behavior..I am very strict, aren't I? LOL

Kim | 295 comments I finished The Power of Six today. I rated it 3 stars. I thought it was OK, but not great. That was how I felt about the first one too, but I decided to read this one since my husband and son had read it.

message 222: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished Going Too Far today 10/12. I really enjoyed it. Nice change having a "bad" girl and a straight-laced guy. They both have issues and it's manifested differently for each of them. But they help each other try and overcome them- sweet, touching YA. 4*

message 223: by Grace (new)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments I just finished A Wrinkle in Time (Time Series, #1) by Madeleine L'Engle . I have to give it 3 stars. It just didn't have that same magic as it did when I was a kid.

message 224: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

taita I've been looking for an excuse to read Shiver. Maybe this is it!

message 232: by Joann (new)

Joann | 973 comments I'm either going to read Shiver or The Girl in the Steel Corset.

message 233: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished Half-Minute Horrors today 11/14. I'd never heard of this book but was excited to read it because of all of the very well known authors who contributed to it. But it was just ok. Some of the stories were interesting and creepy but most were just mediocre. A few good standouts that made this quick read worth it. 3*

I finished [book:Shiver
today and it was ok. If you were on team Jacob while reading Twilight, you'll like this book. I was really impressed with it, I just kept thinking that it was too similar to Twilight.

message 237: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I finished Forever today for Shiver, and despite the beautiful prose I have mixed feelings about this book. For the final book in the trilogy, it didn't seem to wrap anything up.

message 238: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I listened to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on November 18. I'm really digging Stephen Fry's narration.
