Random Book List #339 (ends June 11)
Oh my, the pressure is really on me on this one. I hope you all like it as much as I did. Now I need to figure out what I am going to read.
Random Book List # 29Duration: May 17 to June 14, 2011
Oooh I'm going to read Heat Wave. I've been wanting to read this for quite a while now
I read The Pact by Jodi Piccoult. It had an intense emotional impact on me. I cried for about a week straight, every day. My husband was so worried because I was so sad. The dual storyline is really great. The storyline of the boy and girl growing up was what really got me. I felt so bad for all of the characters in the book. I think the fact that the story was so incredibly realistic really hit home for me. Jodi did an absolutely amazing job as an author! As for my emotional well-being, I'm going to steer clear from her books for a while, lol.
I finished Heat Wave today, May 25th. I ended up liking it in the end, but it was a slow go for me for awhile. I really liked Rook, but I just couldn't get close to Nikki.
I finished Heat Wave earlier (5/26/11). I love the show so it was hard for me at first not to constantly try to spot things from it. But once I stopped doing that and got into the mystery it was fun, just like the show.
Random Book List #29 Duration: May 17 to June 14, 2011
The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott
Completed:
I finished Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz on 05.30.11. It was okay - I gave it 3 stars. May continue with the series if I can fit it into other challenges.
I'm confused why Lost Voices is on the list when it's not going to be published until July. I tried to order it and it wasn't available...
Finished listening to The City of Ember a couple of days ago. Interesting plot, but might be too young adult for my taste. I give it 3 stars.
Suzanne wrote: "I'm confused why Lost Voices is on the list when it's not going to be published until July. I tried to order it and it wasn't available..."I apologized. I didn't realize the book was not publish yet.
I also read and really enjoyed This Lullaby (6/9***). This was only the second book I've read by her and, although I liked the first (Just Listen) better, this book still had the same feeling for me - a little bit of heart-ache but warm and fuzzies throughout and a feel good ending that leaves you feeling happy with the world.
Finished reading Heat Wave. on 6/5/11. I give a 3 1/2 stars. The extra is because I love the show Castle. It was entertaining as I could see the characters they represented. I don't think a non-Castle fan would like it as much but it was a fun light read.
Random Book List Challenge #34Goal: Read ONE book from the list within a four-week period. Post a brief commentary about the book you read.

Interesting list...my library has Mennonite in a Little Black Dress and Hunger- anyone read either of these? Any suggestions?
I'll be reading The Lord of the Rings. (:
Fran wrote: "Interesting list...my library has Mennonite in a Little Black Dress and Hunger- anyone read either of these? Any suggestions?"I just requested Hunger from the library. If you end up picking it and would like to read it with me let me know.
Sara, I would love to read it with you. I'm away until Tues. so I won't be able to get to the library until Wed. Want to start it at the end of next week?
Fran wrote: "Sara, I would love to read it with you. I'm away until Tues. so I won't be able to get to the library until Wed. I'm starting a buddy read of The English Patient tonight but it'll be done by the end of the week so that's perfect!
I switched b/c of library timing. I finished Dead Reckoning for Dead in the Family yesterday (7/4/11). I found it pretty "meh". This series seems to be running out of some mojo.
I finished Dead in the Family on 07.03.11. The book was okay - maybe 2.5 stars. KarenF nailed it - it's running out of mojo.
I finished Hunger on 7/10. I really liked it- I found it a gripping glimpse into the mind of a teenager in the throes of anorexia. I wish it had been a little longer and maybe a little more in depth, but I still found it powerful.
I also read Hunger (7/13***) and agree with Fran - it was really well done. For such a short book (174 pages) it does a great job of drawing you into the story and the heroine's life.
Finished The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1) by J.R.R. Tolkien (7/17/2011). Giving it ***.

I finished Mennonite in a Little Black Dress and it was really good! Woman goes through a nasty divorce and a bad car accident so she has to move back home to her mennonite community. Very pleasant, humourous read. Even though the author went through a rough period, she was positive and upbeat through it all and learned to appreciate her religious background and her eccentric family.

There are a couple of books on this list that I want to check out. It's hard to choose! For now, I'm going to pick Twilight. I want to see what the hype's about.
taita, I loved Twilight- give it a try!I'm thinking about Nevermore, I've never heard of it, but reviews look really good.
Ooh, I'm torn between Nevermore, Starcrossed. I'll probably be starting the Percy Jackson series anyway. Hmmm, confused.
I am going to read Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. I started it on audio, but then lost my place so I think I will pick it back up again in book format.
Finished Nevermore on 8/2. I liked this book although it was a little confusing. Good YA series. I have put the other books on my TBR shelf!
I finished reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth for The Dark and Hollow Places on 08.03.11. I was surprised at how much I liked this book - it was very chilling in several places. I rated it 4 stars.
I read The Art of Racing in the Rainand I LOVED it! It is totally different from my usual genre but a friend recommended it and I'm glad she did.
I finished Shiver (for Linger) yesterday. It started slow for me, but it picked up a bit at the end. I will see about getting the next book just to see what happen next.
Oh yeah, I read The Lightning Thief on Aug 1 - Three stars. Felt more like a juvenile book but I'm interested to continue.
