Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I also read Changeless for Soulless (not exactly planned but hey, i'll count it)...loved it, hated the ending because I had to go out and buy book 3 to listen to - 4 stars

message 252: by Joann (new)

Joann | 973 comments Finished reading Eve today. I rated it 3 stars.

message 253: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Finished Frostbite for 'Spirit Bound' by Richelle Mead today. 3 stars.
I found it a little bit less intense than a first book and some of the twists in the plot were a little bit too obvious for my taste...,

message 254: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 763 comments I read Dearly, Departed - 4 stars (12/25). This is the first "zombie romance" I've read, but the mix of post-apocalyptic, steampunk and young adult-ish romance really worked. An enjoyable debut, and I am interested to see where the author goes with the series.

I finished Eve by Anna Carey on [12/30/2011] and I'm giving it 4*. This was such a quick read, a little bit than four hours of reading all-together. I really liked the storyline and the turns of the events. I like it how Carey is so cold when it comes to killing-off characters. It's quick and it doesn't give you time to get angry because the story develops so quickly. Eve, the main female character, however was slightly annoying in the beginning. But then she grows (thank God) but the end... uh. I don't know. I can't understand how she can just leave behind people she loves (don't want to give to many spoilers). I'll read the next part. (:

message 256: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I finished Grave Peril on Dec 27. Rated it 4 stars. I think the series is starting to pick up and I'm hooked.

message 257: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3901 comments I finished 10th Anniversary (Women's Murder Club, #10) by James Patterson and really liked this addition to the series. Having the four women (cop, lawyer, reporter and coroner) be friends and brainstorm each others cases is an interesting touch.

message 258: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I'm not quite sure how this works... do I have to post here when I read the book? Or just add a review to the book itself?

Hi Yvonne!

You have to post back in this thread to let us know whether you had read a book from the list.

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 2244 comments I finished Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins . It was really cute! I didn't think I would get into it but I really enjoyed it. I give it 4 stars!

message 262: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I just finished my re-read of Grave Peril and still love it as much as the first time around. 5 stars again

It's amazing how much is set up in this one book that will be important later in the series

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i'm either going to do Forget You or The Future of Us

ETA - library doesn't have Forget you...so The Future of Us it is

message 267: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I really want to read Catching Jordan but I can't seem to get a copy, so I'm settling with The Future of Us.

message 268: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I was tempted to read 'Uglies', but I am trying to practice restraint and do not start any more series until I complete all of those I already started. :)
So, I'm going to read Forget You by Jennifer Echols.

message 269: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I'm planning to read The Future of Us or Uglies or Catching Jordan.

Since so many are gonna read The Future of Us, do you all wanna do a buddy read?

message 270: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) hmm... The Future of Us sounds really interesting... will see if I can get a copy here in Germany - and not a translated one

Catching Jordan looks great but my library doesn't have it so I will read The Future of Us - love to do a Buddy Read Vi, and whoever else wants to join in. I already got a copy from my library so anytime is fine by me.

message 272: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i should be getting it in the next day or so, so i'll join in Fran...its being transferred between libraries

message 273: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Great Dee! Let me know when you get it, no rush :)

message 274: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments this came in yesterday...I have about an hour or so to finish up on the audiobook i'm listening to right now at work, and then i should be good to start...so sometime tomorrow?

message 275: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I might start tonight because I finished my book this afternoon. Start whenever you can and we'll chat when we're all done :)

message 276: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments k...i'm doing the audiobook, so it'll take me a bit longer, because it will be my at work book

message 277: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments just started this...do you wanna start a buddy read thread?

message 278: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Dee, I actually finished it. I started yesterday and it's an easy, fast read. If you want to start a thread you can, but I can sum up my feelings about it pretty quickly- I didn't like it. A waste of a great idea. Won't go into details until you finish. Such a cool concept; such shallow, materialistic, boring characters. Oh well, I hope you like it better! Maybe better on audio?

message 279: by Dee (last edited Jan 20, 2012 11:01AM) (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments yeah, i'm liking it so far...maybe different in our ages...because they are the age that I was in 1996, so I connect with them...but i'm only like an hour in

right now, my take on it is that, the whole what if...how one like ripple in our lives now, can have drastic consequences or change our future way down the road

message 280: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I just couldn't stand Emma. At all. For me, I've read so many better YA books, so many better developed characters.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 957 comments So funny. I finished The Future of Us by Jay Asher on January 6th which won't count towards this challenge since it started January 17th?

message 282: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) as our library doesn't have it in English, I won't read it for this - I can't buy any new books at the moment... but I'll see what else I'll find from the list

message 283: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 649 comments I'm in for List #64
The Summoning

message 284: by Linda (new)

Linda | 403 comments I'm going to read rising tides for list 64

message 285: by Fran, Moderator (last edited Jan 25, 2012 04:54PM) (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Yz, I finished The Future of Us on 1/20. 3* (bumped it up a bit upon reflection :)). Great concept, not great execution. And I disliked Emma immensely.

message 286: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I just finished Forget You. 3 stars. I liked the idea for a plot, but characters & some events were a little too unrealistic too me, over-the-top unreal MTV teenage series.

message 287: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I finished up The Future of Us - the hyperlink thingy is being funky!

I gave it 3 stars...I liked the concept, but found Emma to be a really immature 15 year old, who had apparently been raised to not realize that her actions had consequences...but towards the end, she did kinda grow up a bit.

message 288: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I finished Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally (4*) today (2 Feb). I loved this book! It has a female QB and the book describes neatly the prejudices and the difficulties she encounters. There is a love triangle but it was resolved neatly and the best thing is - there are no a**hole characters. I wish I'd read it before the PIFM - it fit very neatly into one of the categories!

message 289: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I read another one for this list. I finished Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally today 2/3. I gave it 3*. I enjoyed reading about the relationship between Jordan and her dad, their growth and understanding of each other. But I didn't really connect with the other characters; too much emphasis on casual sex, no real romance, mostly just sex and attraction, but where was the emotion, caring and respect between the guys and girls? Henry's chosen outlet for his frustration at not knowing how to deal with his feelings for Jordan? Casual sex and hook-ups galore. Usually starting if front of Jordan. Ugh. I did like the relationship Jordan had with her brother, open and honest. So I guess I enjoyed the family dynamics aspect of the story and not the way the peer relationships were portrayed.

message 290: by Joann (new)

Joann | 973 comments I finished Uglies on 01.29.12 - 4 stars.

message 291: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 649 comments I finished The Summoning The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong on February 6th. I really enjoyed it, and will read the next two books. I gave it 4 stars - I found the characters well developed and the story drew me in, leaving me wanting more! I will be interested in seeing how Chloe deals with her "powers" and grows as a character.
Despite the unique and unusual powers the teens possess, Armstrong wrote in a way that made this acceptable. and even understandable. Curious to see what other powers we come across.

message 292: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong on [2/12/2012] and I'm giving it 3*. It was a quick read (perhaps even too quick) and interesting. Can't wait to continue with series and see how will the plot and the characters develop. (:

I finished The Last Summer today and I liked it, I gave it ***. It was a very sad story but it's by the author who does the Traveling Pants series so I may pick up one of those books later on and compare.
