Surely there is someone who would look after her in her twilight years Nancy?? I know of people here who would (useless to you I know!) But I can't believe there would be no-one who would love to have her!!

I have seen this in the news today http://globalnews.ca/news/2103017/dea.... This is why people think Canada is strange lol

That's so sad Nancy. It's hard enough to say goodbye to a beloved old pet when they're really sick. As Brenda said is there not someone who would take her - a neighbour or friend or someone taking one of your younger cats? She must be a lovely old puss and not too demanding at her age.

What!!!
What!!!

How heart breaking. I'm sure you have many cat lovers there. Maybe you just need to put it out there and see what response you get. It would be terribly sad starting your new life on that note.

Funny enough, Brenda, this was more popular with Canadian news than the leaders debate gearing up for election lol

Oh good grief!!! lol
Oh good grief!!! lol

Not an easy decision. But the long flight and 6 months quarantine for an elderly puss would not be nice or kind.

?????? I was going to say - slow news day, but clearly not!

Nancy, I've been in another group called All About Books for about 18 months and know the people there pretty well. Lots and lots of cat lovers from UK in that group. Why not join, post your comment again, and see how you go. Maybe one of them will have her.
I had my old cat from when I was 21 until I was 42. When she died, I had to acknowledge she'd had the best life ever. If you can't re-home your cat, remind yourself that most cats never even make it to 17, and that you've loved her the best.
Legendary actor Omar Sharif has passed away aged 83 from a heart attack. The end of an era! RIP...

Fingers crossed for August!

Fingers crossed for August!"
Good to hear. Hope he continues to go well.

***Nancy - that's tough. Pets are family. I do hope someone can take your precious cats.

They named it Conrad. This is why other countries don't talk to us lol.

Exciting news ... I have received my first auto-approved on Netgalley :D

Sad news about Omar Sharif, what a heart throb he was in his time.

Congratulations Melissa, that is exciting.

Fingers crossed for August!"
That's great news Marianne. A huge relief to both of you I'm sure :)

Congratulations Melissa. Now you just have to find the time to read it :)

Well done Melissa!!

That is good news Marianne! It will be good to know his health problems are sorted before you head off on your big trip.
We haven't had any snow (as was suggested) but it's bitterly cold, an icy wind is blowing (hard) and it's a good day to stay inside!! How's everyone else faring with our cold weather snap?

It's freezing here, Brenda. I'll be huddled by the heater with my book today that's for sure :)
Yes I have a hot cuppa, my book, (the heater has been on for days!) and of course GR close at hand;) What more could we ask?? lol Stay warm Sharon:)

Thought you were probably copping it too Carolyn! Pretty much everywhere I think (except north of the country!)

Thank goodness for gas cooktops and kindle ;D

I am envious of your cold weather right now.

Yes it does sound good, Melissa. Look forward to reading your review once you've read it :)
It's cold but we still have a bright blue sky and sunshine where I am in Sydney! That's better than snow:) And much better than Melbourne with rain or sleet or whatever they are getting at the moment!
Well, it appears the rain dancing has paid off. We have had our first actual measurable rainfall in just over two months.
That's awesome Melissa! I hope it continues to rain for you...puts all those dreadful fires out:)

The problem is, since the ground is so dry too much rain could cause flooding. I hope we get a steady rain and then one big dump of rain. A ot of the province is currently up to level 4 - 5 water restrictions.

Needless to say, it has been a busy summer for the municipal, provincial, and federal government. It is hard to do much when you are up against mother nature.

Nothing we can do about it is there - completely out of our control! That's why we're inside with the heater today;)

Heater, blankets, tea/coffee and a book is the perfect solution for winter Brenda :)

Then out to give Mum lunch, she was snug and warm in the loungeroom with the heater on, but the outside jobs (bins etc) were a bit chilly. Once I'd done the washing up, my hands were warm. And she won all three games of rummikub (and I wasn't "letting" her win, either!)

When jobs have to be done, they have to be done! But it's good when you can stay inside and stay warm (like your Mum!) Bet you're glad to be home in the warm now:)

I keep putting it off and putting it off as my heart is breaking. If she was ill, it might not be so bad, but she's perfectly healthy and happy - she's just too old. Most people want kittens, not cats in their retirement. If only we could take her with us, but its just not possible.
Oh, why do we let ourselves fall in love with our pets and then have to face decisions like this?
