I happened upon this cool site yesterday. It is called "The Subway Book Review" the owner of the site goes up to readers on the subway and asks them to review their books on the spot.
It is like Humans of New York, but for books.

So sorry to hear about all your family's problems Veronica; tragic! I hope they can pick themselves up again. Have a lovely day tomorrow **hugs**...take care.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Just tried to get out my car without taking my seatbelt off. Got iced coffee now though.

I guess 3 hours sleep isn't it enough.

I went to a talk the other day by a sleep scientist. She said that millions of dollars have been spent on studies, including several by the US army to find ways of getting people to function well on less sleep but all the studies have ended up showing that all adults function best on 8-9h sleep!
Of course there's no point telling that to anyone under 35!

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) I had important YouTube videos to watch, Carolyn, I had no time for sleep! Last night, this morning was Saturday Liam's Problem.

That does sound like an awful combination of events. Any one of those is difficult, but I can't imagine how your son and family are coping with all together. Love, hugs and prayers for you all as you grieve your unborn grandbaby...

Just back from the cinema. We saw Antman. It was really funny - the whole audience laughing aloud funny. The scene with Thomas the Tank Engine was priceless.

We have just farewelled our little budgie. He wasn't well this morning and I did all I could for him today, but he died about half an hour ago... A beautiful little bird, bright canary yellow, happy and chattering all the time. He would wolf whistle me when I came in the room and talked often. He was around 16 years of age, which is a great age for a budgie. Our daughter received him for a birthday gift at age 15 - she turned 31 yesterday! We will miss his cheeky chatter...

message 21571: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9987 comments Oh, wow, that is a good long life for a budgie. They say parrots can live a long time, and budgies are in the parrot family, yes?
You will miss him.
I had a cat that lasted 17 years, I was very sad when she went, a lovely Russian Blue.

Yes we sure will miss him! They are Marianne..he used to talk to them through the window when they would sit in the tree outside :) He was a beauty :)

message 21573: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9868 comments Oh that is sad Brenda. You'll miss your little budgie, especially his chatter. Our pets become so much part of the family that it's just like losing a friend. You can console yourself that he was a good age for a budgie and it sounds like he had a long and happy life.

We keep two budgies in the preschool and I love them! Whenever one dies we replace it and it is amazing how they always bond with the new one. We had a yellow one once for many years. They must have longer lives than your average green or blue one.
It's always sad when any pet dies.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. We had a lovely lunch out today then back home for a cake. It was so nice to have all my children home together. My son and DIL are coping ok. It's nice they have their gorgeous little daughter to keep them busy.

Sad to hear, Brenda. It's so easy to get attached to our pets when we care for them and give and receive love - they leave such a void when they go. And it does sound like you have given him lots of love and care...

Suz | 4436 comments I hope I don't turn any one off of what they're doing.. My family is up to day 10 of the vomiting virus. Last child off to school this morning after 5 weeks of spread out holidays - three kids three schools - and she started at 5am. I want normal lol! It has to pick up soon??!! On the upside I just got through one picture book with my 3yo, he won't ever sit for a story. Then moved onto Guess How Much I Love You and it was too boring for him! Looks like I'll have to enjoy it on my own ;)
