I have books that sit on my TBR for long periods of time! Hope you enjoy them when you get around to them.

I loved Shadow of the Wind Lara. I hope you enjoy it!

@Nicole
I don't particularly like Jodi Picoult, but I can definitely vouch for
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
I was lucky to get it as a free kindle download last year and I thought it would just be chick-lit fluff. So when I finally got around to reading it I was so surprised. One of my favourite books of the year.
I should be able to pick up John Green on Friday. I have over comitted on books (again) so am trying to race through some this week so I can get to it :)

LOVE JOHN GREEN! His books are not only amazing, but if you have never watched the Vlog brothers you should.

message 1055: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I never have watched the Vlog brothers, but his writing has impressed me so much even without it.

What do they tend to Vlog about, Laura?

message 1056: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments Just random things. Sometimes they talk about books and sometimes they talk about Science, pop culture as it relates to things, etc.

:) Glad you enjoyed it!

Picked up
Madame Bovary's Haberdashery by Maurilia Meehan
today which I have had on reserve for months. I read a review about it a few months ago (although it kind of had me at "Madame Bovary...") and I have high hopes!

message 1065: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Hah! This sounds intriguing. Don't think I've heard of it before. Sounds like it has a possibility of being hilarious, though ;)

message 1067: by Jessica-Robyn (new)

Jessica-Robyn | 69 comments I got this bunch after my first real trip to my new library. I had gotten so use to seeing the same-old, same-old at my last library that it was just so interesting to explore and find new stuff. Hardly anything was familiar. I'll probably end up doubling my to-read list by the end of the month just from new finds. :D

The Haul:
OCD, the Dude, and Me by Lauren Roedy Vaughn Let's Pretend This Never Happened A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson The Fine Art of Truth or Dare by Melissa Jensen Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I liked Agnes and the Hitman, Jessica-Robyn..hope you enjoy that one. It was cute.

I have a few books from the library right now:

Calculated in Death (In Death, #36) by J.D. Robb (reading now)

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill The Camel Club (Camel Club, #1) by David Baldacci The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen White Lies (Arcane Society, #2) by Jayne Ann Krentz
The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman (still need to finish this one, from August!)

The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas

And I have The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith , which is due today and can't be renewed so I'm just going to check it out again later. I couldn't get it started in time.

lol Teresa. I'm sure you will *eventually* finish the Hoffman book ;)

And we are doing Cuckoo's Calling as a BOM in October so you can try and get to it then! :D

Kristie | 3595 comments I just picked up:
Shane by Jack Schaefer Quidditch Through the Ages by J.K. Rowling The Last Original Wife by Dorothea Benton Frank The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin

I just started The Last Original Wife. It didn't start out at all how I expected it to. It took a little bit for me to get used to it, but now I'm really enjoying it.

That's brave Kristie.. picking up 4 books including The Passage! I would struggle to just get through the Passage before it was time to return it...lol

The Last Original Wife from the synopsis sounds like it could be really good or just awful. Will be interested in your thoughts at the end :)

I probably will do that. I thought the hold queue would be a lot longer than it was so I put it on hold too soon, I guess!

I read Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir last month and thought it was great! (until about the last 40 pages, which is not much at all, really) I'm sure you will enjoy the hell out of it.

Good on your library for getting these new books in!

I'm sure I'll have to renew The Passage. I'm hoping to get to it before the end of the month though.

The Last Original Wife started off very differently than I expected it too, so I wasn't really sure how I felt about it at first. The beginning of the book is set up as a series of therapy sessions. Then, the style completely changed and they went back to show how the problems all began. I'm enjoying the story now, so we'll see how it goes. I feel like it's going to be more serious than the synopsis let on. I thought it *could be a humorous story from the synopsis, but I wasn't sure.

Fortunately, the other two books are really short, so I'm hoping to read them between classes on Tuesdays. They are easy to tote to class with me and only 206 pages combined.

Picked up The Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard C. Morais for one of my F2F book clubs. Sarah, I think you may enjoy it (although I'm only 100 pages in)

Also picked up Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews although I'm not sure when I will get to it. We just finished the BR for Magic Bites so I will see if I can read it before having to return it to the library!

I'm continuing my year of John Green with
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
He just does geeky, smart, but funny teen so well!

I am also reading
Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth
for a buddy read which is going well. But I will reserve my judgement until the end as often "book 2s" fall flat

And today is the first Neil Gaiman book for our NG book a year challenge, and also our BOM
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
which I'm quite excited about reading with others!

message 1081: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments My copy of The Cuckoo's Calling The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith finally came in at the library! I'm so excited to get it, but it is the audio version and I'm in the middle of listening to The Passage The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin which is very long! I hope I have time to finish them both before they are due back!

message 1082: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16602 comments Mod
Oh no! How long does your library give you for reserves?

I had to swap my audio as I started The Adventures of Augie March, but it is almost 22 hours and I wanted to start Fool Moon for the BR. So I'll just have to get back to Augie March in a few days.

message 1083: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I need to pick up The Cuckoo's Calling by Tuesday and I have 3 weeks to listen to it. I will need to return it after that because other people will be waiting for it, so no renewals. The Cuckoo's Calling is 13 CDs (16 hrs) and The Passage is 29 CDs (37 hrs!!). I can renew The Passage because no one else has a hold on it, but I don't want to stop in the middle. I just finished CD #8 and it is so good. I need to know what happens! lol :) I only listen to them in the car, so this may be difficult. I might have to try to find some other times to listen.

message 1084: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I have The Twelve, The Graveyard Book, & Storm Front planned on audio after that!

message 1085: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16602 comments Mod
lol! You are going to have to just lie on the couch when you get home and close your eyes and listen to books! haha

And of course, you have to prioritise Storm Front :)

message 1086: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments lol! So I've heard! I think I'm going to get to that one and The Graveyard Book in November. I'm hoping* to finish The Passage, The Cuckoo's Calling, and* The Twelve by the end of October. We'll see how it goes! I may be staying up all night with headphones in to finish on time! :)

I have a feeling once I start the Harry Dresden series, I'm going to be listening to them for a while!

message 1087: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16602 comments Mod
Yes, I think Harry is addictive, but they are so full of action that I think having now done book 1 and 2 back to back, I will need a little break before book 3 :)

message 1088: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Good to know. That will be my Neverwhere break for the Neil Gaiman challenge. ;)

message 1091: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I spent a good two hours in my local library today. They had a book sale on, so I managed to pick up Mercedes Lackey's Winds of Fate, Arrow's Fall and Moving Targets and Other Tales of Valdemar for about $1 each.

I also picked out Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews for the same BR that Karen is talking about above, and also Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer .

Non-BR books I picked up today are A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness and The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1) by Jessica Sorensen , both of which I've been looking forward to for some time now!

message 1092: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16602 comments Mod
Non BR books? *gasp* is there such a thing? Teehee

We did Deborah Harkness as BRs which helped me enjoy the book more as it can be a bit hard going at times! I actually enjoyed book 2 more than 1 (which doesn't often happen!)

message 1093: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I've had Discovery of Witches rec'ed to me by a couple of people. Looking forward to finally getting to it. Hopefully it's not *too* hard going for me on my own! ;)

Im sure :)
She is just incredibly descriptive, so I think it depends on your preferred style of writing

message 1095: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I have a bunch of library books checked out right now. I'm not sure I'll get to all of them.

I have:
The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin on audio. I am about 70% of the way through.
The Twelve (The Passage, #2) by Justin Cronin also on audio, for when I finish The Passage.
The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith , my third audio. I'm not sure where to fit this one in, but I wanted it for the group read so I took the first format that was available to me. I've just started it, not even through CD #1 yet.
My Story by Marilyn Monroe , I need something to get my mind off of The Passage before bed!
Shane by Jack Schaefer , this was a BOM for another group last month and I never got around to it. I'm hoping to read it in little snippets of time, since it's quite short.
How to Cook Everything Simple Recipes for Great Food by Mark Bittman , for the cooking buddy read. :)
The Design Cookbook Recipes for a Stylish Home by Kelly Edwards , just for browsing and some ideas.

I picked up
The Man Who Loved Children by Christina Stead
for a F2F book club and although it is a "classic" I had to give up on it. There were no good characters, but it was more than that... it was just not a pleasant read, totally unengaging and I can't even pinpoint why. Will be an interesting book club on Sunday to discuss it!

Just started
Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor
and although I'm only 60-ish pages in I am enjoying it more than I thought I would and I'm interested to see where it goes

I also picked up
Shift Omnibus Edition (Silo, #2) (Wool, #6-8) by Hugh Howey
which I hope to get to before I have to return it! I quite enjoyed Wool and I've heard this next omnibus is just as good

And one of my libraries just got a new audiobook service which is different from my other 2 libraries which makes me mega-excited as I now have HEAPS more audiobooks available including
Grave Sight (Harper Connelly, #1) by Charlaine Harris
which I have almost finished :)

message 1098: by Christine (new)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 1052 comments I just got Wild Invitation (Psy-Changeling 0.5, 3.5, 9.5, 10.5) by Nalini Singh & Bonds of Justice (Psy-Changeling, #8) by Nalini Singh

I'm not sure about Etiquette and Espionage. I can only get it from one of mylibraries and it is on loan at the moment so maybe I will skip it.
