This... This book... This is not a book. This is INSANITY in book form! I'm on page 105 right now, about half way through chapter three, and guess what? We finally get to the SUBJECT of chapter one! Who fell asleep on the job with this book?!?!?!
Yes it's a Biography, I get that, but you put that kind of title and cover on it and you get people like me thinking 'oh it's about the part of his life in Egypt, cool! None of the other stuff I'm not interested in!'
WRONG.
Not only do you get the Whoooooole life story, but it's so BADLY out of order and doesn't cover the topics in the FREAKING CHAPTER TITLES save for one line in passing in the case of chapter two, but you get parts of life stories about OTHER PEOPLE to one degree or another. I don't care this guy's Mom had to deal with the death of a Baby girl and her husband by the time he was 4, and later another son! I don't care about his 'cousin' losing her two of her own children, I CARE ABOUT WHAT THE BOOK IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT.
Nothing personal against the Dude, The writer the editor, the publisher or anyone else associated with this book but COME ON. If your gonna do something like this, DO. IT. RIGHT. Not this crazy mess! GAH! X.x; If it weren't for the 'One Million Pages' Challenge, I'd return this to the library right now. If your interested in Egypt or this particular person, look elsewhere and save your sanity.

That's pretty cool about Dresden, Kristie
Christine - ill be interested in your thoughts on Hedgehog. It is one of the few times where I've thought the movie was better than the book

I deliberately did not check out the reviews before starting it. It was really hyped when it came out. I am about 100 pages in and like it so far, only 500 more to go *lol* It reminds me of a travelogue for island hopping but in this case they are planets :)

I did not know there was a movie, good to know now. I maybe will check it out. I am not much into movies though. :) It was on the display shelves at the library. I picked it up because the summary said something like "for book lovers & japan lovers" and it found its way magically fast in my bag :) I will let you know when I am finished ...

Really though, I'm looking forward to December so I can finally break my Let it Snow curse. Every year I plan to read Let it Snow for Christmas and every damn time the book disappears only to be found in January. For real, its been three years running! I will break the curse!

lol Jessica-Robyn! That is quite the title
I have Let it snow on my TBR - you have inspired me to read it this December! Harold Fry is a great book and Me, Earl and the Dying Girl is also on my TBR. I nominated it as the Jan YA BOM ; just have to wait and see if it gets voted in :)

Yay! I think seasonal reading is always the best and I'm really looking forward to reading everything I've picked up from this trip. I'm hoping that these books will help me get out of this inexplicable reading slump I've been in.
urgh the dreaded reading slump
I agree that the holiday season can help with that as you're in the 'mood' for certain reads :)

I have finished Hedgehog a few days ago and liked it. The final part was a bit dragging though. I can see why it would work out well as a movie.
Today I am picking up
for our buddy read next week and also
which is coming up as a BOM.
I then have to go to a different library who seem to have
available. They charge $1.50 to reserve books (so no-one ever does!) so I am going to race over there at opening time and hope I beat everyone else ;)

I have The Princess Bride and Neverwhere waiting for me to pick up when I get there. :)

Nice work Kristie!
Yep. I got it Anima. :D Now I just need to fit it in somehow.
Nancy - is that a re-read of HP for you or first time?

same here Kristie. Maybe I'll do that as a challenge for myself next year
Joycedale - have you read much James Dashner before? I'm interested in Mazerunner and just haven't gotten there

I have read anything by him yet

I have the following books checked out of the library:
Chronicles of the Black Company; Lord of the Flies; 1Q84; and The Black Prism. Other books I have requested and are waiting to be picked up are: Where the Sidewalk Ends; Anne of Green Gables: Three Volumes in One; and Slaughterhouse-Five. On hold, as the 17th of 17 holds: I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban
Jim Townsend

Just returned Kate Daniels, Magic Slays.
I have Stiff on audio too Sarah. Hopefully it is ok (I haven't started it yet). I wonder if Tina Fey narrates her own book? That would make it better I think as I found it fell a bit flat (and I am a big fan)
I just started
on audio which is a popular book here and has won lots of awards and I have had a few friends recommend it. So far it reminds me a lot of Melina Marchetta's style of writing. It is strange going back to an Austraian narration after listening to so many American ones recently I must say!
I also just started
which is the last in the trilogy and I'm already sucked in after just a few chapters!

@Nicole
I nominated Finnikin of the Rock for the March BOM because I'm interested to see her write in a different genre. If it doesn't win I'll be getting it from the library on audio soon :)
