I've heard that she narrates the audio version of Bossypants herself and it is really good.

Sounds good. I'll probably be reading it towards the end of March because I have so many obligations, but this will push me to actually do it. :)

message 1159: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3798 comments Just checked out and devoured The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner , which I guess it Dystopia, but that's not focused on at all in the book so I really loved it.

message 1160: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments End of March for me too on Finnikin. I'm doing that thing where I'm overextending myself, and I'm already prepared for Widacre to be a long one.

message 1161: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16602 comments Mod
Ah. I'll eventually get to that one RebeccaS!

Kristie & Nicole - Yes end of March works. I'll wait until the poll closes for BOM just in case it wins before setting up a thread

message 1162: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Got Maya's Notebook by Isabel Allende on audio from my library downloads

I'm overextended again too. I do it all the time. I keep telling myself that I won't do that, but then all the books look so good!

I'm interested in that Rth Ozeki book too!

I have
A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing by Eimear McBride
due to a great review in the paper and I love debut novels that are able to get some press

Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor
devouring it just like I did the first book

InterWorld (Interworld, #1) by Neil Gaiman
for our BOM

Bowie A Biography by Marc Spitz
Love this guy. although this is the large print edition so the book looks very intimidating! I'm hoping to atleast start it before it is due back ;)

message 1166: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I just got Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, #2) by Jim Butcher . Hammered (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #3) by Kevin Hearne is in transit, so I should be able to pick it up this week. I am still waiting on Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase and Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu . I'm really looking forward to finishing up the Legend trilogy. I've really enjoyed it so far.

message 1167: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Hammered and Days of Blood and Satrlight are on my "I'm excited!!!" lists as well ;)

I picked up
The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes
on audio which I am loving. WWI occupied France is one of my favourite settings for Historical Fiction

and as paperbacks I got
Joyland by Stephen King
which will be by second ever Stephen King assuming I don't get scared and stop reading it... haha

for an upcoming BOM I picked up
The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken
which I am quite looking forward to. It seems to be a while (atleast a month!) since I read dystopian YA ;)

and for an upcoming buddy read I got
Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt
which I have wanted to read for a very long time. So super excited about that one

oh and I checked out the ebook of
Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline
for our upcoming BOM which I can't use on my kindle (boo!) and none of my libraries stock a paperback version. Not sure if other Australian's are finding that too? My libraries only have it as an ebook via Overdrive

message 1169: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Karen - Glad you are enjoying the audio version of The Girl You Left Behind. I may check that out.

Joyland isn't really scary. It's more of a coming of age story with some paranormal parts.

I'm looking forward to Tell the Wolves I'm Home too and I can't wait for Orphan Train. I have no idea where I'm going to find the time to get to all of these books!

Currently, from the library I have:
Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu on audio. I like it because I was already so invested in the story, yet I don't think this one is as good as the first two. It is a bit repetitive for my taste.

The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan on audio next.

and the paperback version of:
84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff

message 1170: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Just a small library borrow for me this month, with Kevin Hearne's Tricked.

I had the rest of the books I wanted to read at home ;)

Kristie | 3595 comments Nicole wrote: "Just a small library borrow for me this month, with Kevin Hearne's Tricked.

I've been listening to those on audio. My library only had the first three available though, so I had to get that one on Audible.

message 1172: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Via Overdrive I am listening to A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra . Also my other audio checkouts are Wild From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed , This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett , and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou . On hold I have What is the What by Dave Eggers .

On the ebooks I am finishing up Perfect by Rachel Joyce , due back tomorrow, and my hold on The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd just came in.

message 1173: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Kristie, do you happen to know who does the reading for Kevin Hearne's books? I know it's James Marsters who does Dreden, and that is amazing!

message 1174: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

@Kristie

The narrator for The Girl You Left Behind is very good. Just starting chapter 15 now so a few chapters in to modern times and I'm still enjoying it. I read some reviews that didn't like the change in POV, but I think the characters are just as interesting

Joyland is pretty thin so I'm hopeful I can get to it before I need to return it

Shame about Champion. I need to buy it on my Kindle, but it may not be until May that I can get to it

@Sarah
Interesting mix of books! You'll have to let us know if there are any stand outs

message 1175: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Nicole - It is Luke Daniels. He does a great job narrating. :)

Karen - Champion is still good, it's just that the themes repeat from the other books and thins are restated frequently. For example (view spoiler) (Spoiler is for anyone that has not read book 2 in the series.) I'm still glad I'm reading it though.

message 1176: by Renee (new)

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments My latest request was the latest Jojo Moyes book The One Plus One. I enjoyed it, but not quite as much as some of her other books.
@Karen, I loved The Girl You Left Behind and also read the prequelHoneymoon in Paris. I think you might like The Last Letter from Your Lover too.

message 1177: by Beth (new)

Beth | 503 comments I reserved Anansi Boys yesterday. I hope it comes in by the time the book of the month discussion starts.I just checked out The Baron in the Trees. Calvino is a new author for me; I found the book on this list.

Ah thanks Kristie. Yes I can imagine what you mean - some series books get caught up in too many re-caps

Thanks Renee ; I can get all her books on audio, so I will get to another one in a few weeks. I have One Foot in the Grave now, and then Anansi Boys. So maybe in 2 weeks I can get to another one :)

message 1180: by Renee (new)

Oh I hope you can get to it this time Kristie! ;)

Sarah - I imagine you will absolutely love The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. It is one of my all-time favourites. I have the hard cover copy and lend it to everyone! Wool Omnibus is a good read too, although I enjoyed part 1 the most.

Wow kay - you are keen for that series then! I couldn't get past book 1 as I found it just too much of a Harry Potter copy, but I'm not the majority. Lots of people love it!

Trapped - Kevin Hearne

Yes, reading Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders which I'm almost half way, but giving myself a break for a few days. That many Gaiman short stories is a little exhausting..lol

I dunno, Karen, I think I've just gone off the paranormal genre. And I don't find she writes it as well as others anyway.
