Has anyone read the The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown? I am wondering if that book fits into the archeology category? I know Davinci code setting was in a museum, but I am not sure about this one.
Thanks,

But I have one little tip. Read the 1st chapter/prologue, then go back and read it again--it's only a couple pages. I started reading it and had absolutely no idea what was going on, but once I kinda figured it out, I went back and then I got it.
So my point is, don't let the strangeness of the 1st chapter put you off, the rest of the book doesn't read like that and it is just such a beautiful, heartbreaking book.

I loooved The Book Thief and I recommended it during July's pick it for me. I'm glad that so many people will get to read it!

I'd like to re-read Summer of the Dragon and the female lead is an anthropology student who specializes in the bones of modern North American humans.

If you like musicals, might I suggest hitting Netflix or RedBox and getting one. (I really loved Three Smart Girls which was Deanna's first movie--she was 13 when she starred in it.)

Hmmm...Ann...according to Wikipedia:
Anthropology is the study of humanity (not very general, LOL!) with basic concerns such as "What defines Homo sapiens?", "Who are the ancestors of modern Homo sapiens?", "What are humans' physical traits?", "How do humans behave?", and so forth.
It seems that here in the US, archeology is a sub-field of anthropology while in Europe, they are separate fields.
Here's the definition of archeology: is the study of human material culture, including both artifacts (older pieces of human culture) carefully gathered in situ, museum pieces and modern garbage.
As anthropology here in the US has other sub fields besides archeology (cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology and biological/physical anthropology), my opinion is that you should use your book only if the anthropologist deals with artifacts and not one of the other sub-fields.
Of course, Yz may say something different! :)

Good question about the anthropologist. On msg 89, D.G., did some research on the two fields.
I like D.G.'s criteria for our challenge category. my opinion is that you should use your book only if the anthropologist deals with artifacts.
Since your anthropologist is dealing directly with bones (okay, bones are not exactly artifacts...LOL...but hey, at least she is dealing with some kind of objects....), feel free to read the book.
@ D.G.
Thanks for the input. I love it when members help each other out. Help lighten the load.
