Rachel Bo lives in Texas with her husband, three daughters and a menagerie that includes the perfect dog, a python, a white rabbit, and some remarkably hardy goldfish. She has yet to tame a dragon, but HAS discovered they are quite fond of mint chocolate chip ice cream.
This book just didn't do it for me. "Strength in Numbers" contains two stories by Rachel Bo involving menage relationships.
Danger in Discovery is about a man in his 50s finally coming to grips with his bisexuality. It was interesting to read, but I got fed up with the on-again, off-again and self-agonizing. The sex was hot and there was a lot of it, but I never really liked the characters.
Branded is a fairly hard-core BDSM story that involves a F/M/F menage. Two dominants and one submissive. It was just a bit too rough for me.
I did not really like this book. There was no delight in it, no joy and the BDSM was too hard and regimented. Perhaps that is the point. Way too much please and thank you Master/Mistress. It left a bad taste. This book was terrible way to spend an afternoon.
Danger in Discovery This story is about David Campbell, Sutter's father from "Double Jeopardy". It starts off several years later where David has accepted his son and the Menage relationship he has with Kendall and best friend Josh. It seems that everyone has moved on, including his ex-girlfriend Joy and secret lover Jason from college. For some reason the two people he loved during college are together. For several years now, he has avoided them, but it was getting harder and harder. David still wanted them both and with a little push from his daughter-in-law, Kendall, he gives in to his longing.
It was an interesting read about three mature adults trying to get back what they've lost. Joy and Jason are drawn together not only because there is mutual attraction, but because they know in their hearts that David belongs to them too. They're willing to "ease" David back in their lives, but David is holding back and denying himself to be with Joy and Jason. There's even a scene where he still has not accepted he's a man in love with another man.
The story held little interest for me. David got to be too annoying and I didn't really feel a connection between Joy and Jason, no matter how much they appease each other by saying "they" can move on with their lives, even if David doesn't accept their relationship. It was better than OK read, but the plot was too boring. Plenty of sex, toys, etc.
Branded The saga continues with the story of Brandy - loyal friend and employee of Kendall. Brandy takes a cruise where she meets a married couple who have no problem showing public display of affection. The first night she witnesses Lin and Eric being very naughty...and they notice her too. They've set their eyes on Brandy and was determined to "keep her".
The main theme of this story is BDSM. Not for the faint of heart. Both Lin and Eric are Doms and Brandy is their chosen Sub. The reader discovers that the married couple's lives revolve around the BDSM lifestyle. They offer Brandy a "contract" where she will belong to them. Brandy at first could not go through with it, but she is attracted to them and how they make her feel.
This reader is not a fan of F/F nor the strong BDSM scene - had to skim through the pages. There was no real story of romance, this was pure BDSM. Brandy was an annoying character and didn't understand how she can claim "love" for two people who wants to be her "master/mistress". I found no interest in the story - just not my cup of tea. Strong BDSM theme, F/M/F, F/F, sex toys, orgy scene and an unbelievable ending IMO.
I got this one and Double Jeopardy from Ellora's Cave and read both in 2 days. Hothothot and I like that each story is different - one with older woman, younger men, one with all older, and one with younger and switching it around to f/m/f with BDSM. Hadn't read BDSM before, but it didn't seem too extreme to me - won't try it myself but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy reading it, LOL! I hope she writes more in the series, she's a good author and every book is a little different so it's a great way to sample a variety of menages.
These two stories are erotica, so if that's not your thing, stop reading.
This book is 2 novellas in the same world as the first book in this series. All three are about permanent poly relationships. The first novella is about a 50-something year M-F-M relationship where one of the men has a really hard time admitting he's bisexual. I skimmed this one.
The second one was about a F-F-M BDSM trio. It was very hot, though I had some problems reading about unprotected sex with strangers.
