The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann. It's non-fiction and took awhile to get into it, but it's turning out to be quite a fascinating page turner.
Vanessa wrote: "Just completed Pride and Prejudice for the millionth time and shall be moving on to michael bubles biography tonight, a gift from a friend that feeds both my love for michael buble and my love for ..."I loved Pride and Prejudice, and Michael Buble is one of my favorites! I didn't know he has a biography out. What's it called?
Currently reading Dave Barry's History of The Millenium (So Far). Just finished Good Eats: The Early Years by Alton Brown.
I'm reading. "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. I had just read "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair and felt like I needed to give all political/economic ideologies a fair hearing.
I am reading The Widow Clicquot by Tilar J. Mazzeo and A Long Long Time Ago and Essentially True by Brigid Pasulko.
I'm reading Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, and Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Highly recommend them, but neither are for the faint of heart!
Akjeepgirl wrote: "I just finished The Well and The Mine by Gin Phillips. Such a beautifully written book, I couldn't put it down. I just started reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy and am completely taken by it."I LOVE The Road! I read it in my Modern Novel class, and I still am affected by it. If you love the book, I wouldn't recommend the movie though :/
I am currently reading Beautiful by Amy Reed, mainly started reading it because I have the same name as the main character, but it is turning out to be a decent read.
Sarah wrote: "I am reading "The Monk" by Matthew Gregory Lewis this month. This novel is very engrossing and opened up a new style of reading that I now love. I'd recommend it to anybody who enjoys the classics...."One of my favorites! The end scene is classic.
White Teeth by Zadie Smith. It's the best thing I've picked in a long time. I wish I'd read it sooner.
Ms. R wrote: "Claire wrote: "I'm reading "The Book of Lost Things" by John Connolly"Oh my gosh I LOVE this novel!! I'm going to offer it to my seniors for independent reading and see if they can make connectio..."
I share your feelings Mrs. R. I have recommended this book to so many people and I have even given it as a present to those I feel would really love it! I love his writing style. Claire, I hope you love it!
I just finished Kim Harrison's Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows, Book 8): http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/65..., and I'm currently reading Shift by Rachel Vincent (Shifters, Book 5): http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/64....
I just read Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey. It is a great book and I would recommed it to everyone.
A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
Kylie wrote: "The Bitch Posse by Martha O'Connor"Oooh I read that this summer! Let me know how you like it!
I am reading The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and Death at Devil's Bridge by Robin Paige. I am starting to listen to Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah.
I'm reading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. It's anti-frankenfood, and quiet frightening, in that much of what she is having happen, actually COULD happen, if people stop paying attention. I want to find the sequel to this and read it next.
Ok, I'm a reader, for life and for work so I read more than one book by month. Right now I am going to start reading 3 different books:A History of Modern Europe by John Merriman
The history of Love by Nicole Krauss
Dead to the World by Charlane Harris
One for work (I'm a historian) and two for pleasure ;)
Hi!!My Book Club ( The Lady Luck Book Club) is reading "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" by Alan Bradley. A mysteryy novel about a little girl tunred detective, when she tries to solve a case of murder!
I am currently reading a few books, as is a habit of mine.I continuing on trying to finish my goal of reading all of J.R.R Tolkeins published works. Right now I'm on "The Book of Lost Tales Vol. I"
"The Bretheren"- John Grisham
"The Bourne Supremecy" Robert Ludlum
I am also reading "Jane Eyre"- Charlotte Bonte, trying to broaden my reading horizons by reading some gothic novels, then I'll move on to regency.
For school I'm reading Angels & Insects and Ulysses (yikes). For fun I'm reading, As Seen in Vogue.
I just finished reading "First Contact or It's Later Than You Think" by Evan Mandery. I am waiting for my newest delivery from Amazon, so I picked up (again) "When You Are Engulfed In Flames" by David Sedaris. He can always get the LOLz going early in the morning on the bus for me.
Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. Just because it was a kid's book doesn't make it any less awesome. :D
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokovvery gripping book from the beginning. Makes you feel like a voyeur.
