I'm re-reading some Harry Potter's and I plan on starting Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass, and perhaps a re-read of the Sookie Stackhouse books before the next one comes out in May.
ModCloth wrote: "Let us know what you're reading this month, and you could win a copy of Malena Watrous' If You Follow Me!"I'm reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I can't believe it's taken me this long to read, but Lewis Carroll is HILARIOUS
I'm reading/ making food from Vegan Yum Yum by Lauren Ulm and it's delicious! I'm not vegan but I've always been curious and this cookbook has the author's personal experiences. I recently read she's a blogger too! veganyumyum.com
Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon, Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak, Musui's Story by Katsu Kokichi (translated by Teruko Craig) (for class :) ), and Krabat by Otfried Preußle in original German
I'm reading The Dark Tower series by Stephen King and simultaneously am reading "The Purity Myth: How America's Obsession with Virginity Is Hurting Young Women" by Jessica Valenti
ModCloth wrote: "Let us know what you're reading this month, and you could win a copy of Malena Watrous' If You Follow Me!I'm reading "Can You Keep a Secret?" by Sophie Kinsella and "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" by James Joyce.
I'm reading Jasper Fforde's "Shades of Grey." If you haven't read anything by him, I'd start with "The Eyre Affair," absolutely brilliant.
I just finished my first book for March- 'Villette' by Charlotte Bronte, now I'm reading 'The Woman in White', by Wilkie Colins.
Currently reading a Tale of Two cities and On The Road by some of the best authors ever to hold a pen/pencil/or type. ;]
I'm currently reading "The Thin Man" by Dashiell Hammett. I've loved the move since I first saw it and I'm finally getting around to reading the book!
Just completed Pride and Prejudice for the millionth time and shall be moving on to michael bubles biography tonight, a gift from a friend that feeds both my love for michael buble and my love for biographies.
For my sensible self: I am reading Museum Careers: A Practical Guide for Students and Novice by N. Elizabeth Schlatter For my inner child: Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
I'm reading "The Lotus Eaters" by Tatjana Soli and "Cast Member Confidential: A Disneyfied Memoir" by Chris Mitchell.
i just finished reading "the time traveler`s wife" by audrey niffenegger and started "burning bright" by tracy chevalier today.
I'm re-reading Brilliance of the Moon by Lian Hearne in so that I can read The Harsh Cry of the Heron, which I just bought :D
Claire wrote: "I'm reading "The Book of Lost Things" by John Connolly"Oh my gosh I LOVE this novel!! I'm going to offer it to my seniors for independent reading and see if they can make connections between the novel and the movie "Pan's Labrynth"
I hope you love it as much as I do :)
I am reading a book that was passed on to me from a students parent. LOL!!!City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare
I'm reading Tender Is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald.Right now at least. I really enjoyed the Great Gatsby a couple years back and came across this one at Barnes and Noble, so I said, "Why not?" I'm really enjoying it.
To the people reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies..I'm working on Sense and Sensibility and Seamonsters. Have you read both? Are they alike? I can't really get into Sense and Sensibility and Seamonsters after having read the original..it feels like a cheap knock off.
I just ordered a bunch of new books from Borders:-The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
- The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
- The Lost City of Z by David Grann
- Little Bee by Chris Cleave
Can't wait until they get here!! :)
I am reading "The Hunger Games 2: "Catching Fire" By Suzanne Collins. It's a young adult book - a little vacation from more sophisticated literature that I suppose a 31-year-old ought to be indulged in... whatever. I am enjoying this book so much, I secretly pretend that I am Katniss, the female protagonist. This chick is kick-ass. Katniss is strong and smart-a real fighter. She hunts, climbs trees and takes daring risks. She also cares deeply for her friends and family and is willing to make brave sacrifices for them. She puts Bella from the vampire phenmo.to shame. And, of note to the Modcloth crew, there is a unique fashion aspect to the series..A highly recommended read.
I am reading One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd by Jim Fergus. So far it is a great book!
"HeartSick" by CHelsea Cain - features a totally evil vicious female serial killer (a sort of Hannibal-ette!) and very hip characters in the typical detective story roles.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot(it's excellent by the way!)The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
