Just had a thought - I don't mind my book coming from my TBR shelf, but if it's a totally new book for me can they please check it's available from amazon.co.uk? I'd hate to be recommended a book and not be able to get hold of it :(
Hi Nairabell,I've used the US version of this bookseller repeatedly without any problems. They specialize in rare and out-of-print books. The books are usually from other sellers. I love this site! Well, I love them because I can use paypal. LOL
http://www.alibris.co.uk/
I hadn't heard of them before. I'll definitely take a look. I do tend to use amazon a lot though as I have amazon prime so I one-click and the books with me the next day! :)
Most of the other sellers are other bookstores. Give them a try. I've found almost every out of print book that I couldn't find on amazon on their site. You may not get the book overnight though. I've received books from them from as fast as a few days and to as long as a couple of weeks.

I use them quite frequently when i can't find a book on Amazon.
I have a question. Does the picker recommend any format of book (kindle, hardback, etc) or is it limited to just paperback? I ask because I don't have a kindle and dislike hardback books.
Diane wrote: "I have a question. Does the picker recommend any format of book (kindle, hardback, etc) or is it limited to just paperback? You can pretty much get the book on whatever format you can find it that is to your preference, or more convenient.
In the event a book can only be found in a single format, as a courtesy it would be best to warn the person you are picking for.
Reminder: Though we are committed to finish only one book recommended within the month. We can present the person you pick for with more than one choice for them to read.
Diane wrote: "Penney - yes, PB means paperback in this context. :)"Thanks, and for the record I'm ok with any format and any list (TBR included). It seems as though I have a lot of catching up to do. :)
Count me in too- I am still reading my book for February and I love it so far- would never have picked it up on my own-- WORLD WAR Z-- its awsoem!
I've never tried anything like this before, and I'd like to try. But since I have ZERO book buying budget, is it ok to ask that the book be available in the county lib? http://catalog.ccls.org/
Done!Mayakda-I'll make a little note of it so whomever picks for you can check if the choices are available there.
Rossy, I'm ok with my picker picking either something entirely new and not on my TBR shelf or something from my TBR shelf. Yayyyyyy! I cant wait.

Ditto what she said. MY TBR is so huge it might be really challenging to find
something that isn't on it! And a lot of my TBRs are not books I own yet, I just mark them if someone recommends.

I made a note of it for you ladies, too.
I'm very much the same when it comes to my TBR shelf.
Well, if you are taking notes Rossy, put me down for being ok with picking from my tbr or something new too.
Debbie wrote: "Well, if you are taking notes Rossy, put me down for being ok with picking from my tbr or something new too."I think we're almost all in agreement with that it seems. ^.^
Me too, most of my TBR pile is for the wish list and a reminder to look for them when I get a job and more money. Now I hit the used book stores and rummage sales
Ahrcadia ~(Fhantasie)~ wrote: "I have a separate TBR and wishlist, and they're both fair game."That is an excellent idea! I think I'll do the same. I like the idea of making that distinction. Frankly,I have so many TBRs on my shelves I really shouldn't buy any more at least till next year...yeah, right. Never Gonna Happen!!
Ahrcadia ~(Fhantasie)~ wrote: "I have a separate TBR and wishlist, and they're both fair game."Same for me.

Also open to something that's not on any list I have - enjoyed a book in February's Pick-It-For-Me that I'd never heard of before (and have now ordered its sequel!).
FYI- The poll results are finally in for the pairing poll. Hopefully you all had time to vote. It seems the majority would prefer for the pairing to stay the same and be assigned randomly, so that is what i'll be doing this month. Jim, may implement the mentor method if one or more of you have a very low amount of books in your shelf.
If you have an idea on a pairing method that you would like to see implemented. That is not on the poll, do let us know in this thread: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2...
I will be running a poll again next month before the April challenge.
