I was thinking of re-reading TBH and T&A because I really blew through them the first time. (you know, one of those I-don't-really-need-sleep-do-I?-marathons)
Right now I'm trying to get through "Chronicles of the Gringoes" which is non-fiction about the Mexican-American War.
A fun book that I have been interested in is Barbara Kyle's The Queen's Lady (Tudor era, I think). I heard her speak at a conference and the character relationship she described sounded intriguing.
Waiting (impatiently) for The Summer Garden!!

Haven't yet. They don't have it at my library (they have the sequel, King's Daughter).
Argh! I hate buying books that I don't know if I love.

Since Outlander, I haven't read very many books on Scotland. It's always a letdown. Let me know what you think of that one.

So far, It is very good. I too, haven't been able to find any good Highlander books since Outlander, DG has ruined us all for sure. I am enjoying this one, although I am only 90ish pages in.

Yes, there has only been mention of a few clans, so far. A marraige between clans is discussed for political reasons.. etc. etc. I like the dialogue so far. Its rare to find a Scottish book, where it seems authentic. And so far, its not pathetically mushy. (For lack of a better word) Lol., it seems more reality based to me. But like I said, Im only 1/4 of the way in.
I will have to check it out. I am a hopeless Celtic-culture junkie. I just don't like corny. (You know, his manly bronzed arms and her creamy heaving bosom and all that . . .)
Actually, my love affair with the Celts started when I read How The Irish Saved Civilization by Thomas Cahil. First they were warrriors, then they made books. What's not to love?

Amen... :) I'll keep you posted on the heaving bosoms front... It may still go that way..

Oh, I dont deny that I love a great love scene... Just not something reminiscent of a cheesy 80's porn. lol. Books for me, HAVE to have a love story, and I prefer the Historical genre.
I agree with you ladies. I love love scenes! Even the steamy ones! As long as they are done in good taste. I can't say that I have read a corny one. Maybe because I am somewhat choosy about the authors that I do read, especially in the romance genre.

I have read TONS of cheesy ones. For the most part, they are done in good taste though. And I too, am not averse to a little bit of steam. Keeps it interesting.
Thanks Shell! I reserved a copy at my library. Nothing to lose if any heaving bosoms present themselves.
I agree with everyone; some hanky-panky is a good thing if it's done well!

The Gargoyle, by Andrew Davidson
Soulless, by Gail Carriger
Trinity, By Leon Uris
The Crimson Petal and the White, by Michel Faber
Belinda, by Anne Rice
Through a Glass Darkly, by Karleen Koen

haha, we don't blame you at all. In fact I was thinking once I am done with Voyager, and I am taking my time, that I would try to spread the rest out a little farther.
I just started Tatiana and Alexander. I couldn't wait anymore to see what happens next. I hate reading multiple books at once because it takes longer to finish them, but I couldn't resist.

Oh, enjoy the ride... Prepare to cry... ALOT. Keep me posted...

I will do, definitely. I am preparing myself for that... crying. I didn't cry while reading TBH. Have the tissues ready for me :)
I think I will finish that then go back to Voyager. I can't do both at once.

I have no idea. It is torture, but I do love them! They are also more satisfying to read since they are so involved. Emotionally and otherwise.

"You're mine, mo duinne," he said softly, pressing himself into my depths. "Mine alone, now and forever. Mine, whether ye will it or no." I pulled against his grip, and sucked in my breath with a faint "ah" as he pressed even deeper.
"Aye, I mean to use ye hard, my Sassenach," he whispered. "I want to own you, to possess you, body and soul." I struggled slightly and he pressed me down, hammering me, a solid, inexorable pounding that reached my womb with each stroke. "I mean to make ye call me 'master', Sassenach." His soft voice was a threat of revenge for the agonies of the last minutes. "I mean to make you mine."
"Not yet, mo duinne." His hands came hard around my waist, settling and slowing me, pressing me down until I did groan.
"Not yet. We've time. And I mean to hear ye groan like that again. And to moan and sob, even though you dinna wish to, for ye canna help it. I mean to make you sigh as though your heart would break, and scream with the wanting, and at last to cry out in my arms, and I shall know that I've served ye well."
