How do you send a killer to the grave when he’s already dead?

Having narrowly averted an (under)World War, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’s voodoo queen just keeps on giving—leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spir

Honestly? I am slightly disappointed.

So many things which I love about this series seemed to be missing here. I still hope that other books after this one will better.
The only good thing about this one was Ian and Tyler. I felt like half of the book was about nothing and just repeating the same idea. The plot was very stretched; I'm still not sure what I think about Krammer. It just seemed so out of this series if that makes sense.

Plus, I'm so over Justine.

I began One Grave at a Time with this expression: and ended with this one:

The main reasons why I adore the Night Huntress novels:

1. Bones.
2. Cat.
3. The romance between the two.
4. Amusing and awesome side characters (Vlad!).
5. Lots of awww-worthy scenes.
6. An utterly engaging plot.

Of those six reasons, only one of them is found in One Grave at a Time in abundance, and that is Cat. There is not nearly enough Bones, none of Vlad, almost no cute and heart-stopping fights/playful bantering

Does anyone want to explain why the hell I can't seem to leave?

Ghosts and witches and Halloween.
And of course our friendly and unfriendly vampires.

Cat still carries the residual effects of Marie Laveau's blood magic, so expect lots and lots of ghosts in this book.

Heinrich Kramer is an evil ghost who hates women. When he was still alive he used to burn women accusing them for witchcraft. When he died, his very strong spirit stayed so now every year around Halloween, his body becomes physical agai
Nothing like a bad guy that you truly hate, and this book has one. The guy is a ghost who used to torture women and burn them at the stake as "witches" all while spouting bible verses at them. Thank God that men don't use the religion to hurt and oppress women in this day and age. Those were barbaric times.

Cat and Bones are trying to figure out how to kill a ghost when he's already dead. Turns out that it's kinda hard. Who knew? So, Ghostman is really screwing with them. He keeps materializing a
I didn't like it. I didn't hate it. I did expect more. Part of the allure of this series is the great cast of characters: Cat and Bones and their amazing secondary characters - Ian, Spade, Mencheres, Marie, and Justine. This book fell flat for me. Once again, I found myself with the dreaded book ADHD. I constantly put down the book and did other stuff. I never did that with the earlier books.

Here's the thing - Cat and Bones have lost their sizzle. Yes, Bones is still hot and he has rippling musc

And guess what, they change the model! I admit I like the previous model, but this one not bad either :)Her hair is down, and the cat finally make appearance *hello Van Helsing*

I love the stepback too...

Like always, we can't see ALL Bones's face, but no problem :P

The release date is August, 30th, so we just wait 3 months to read this. Good, I really hate waiting so long... Just ordered my copy! LOL!

The Night Huntress series is a big guilty pleasure of mine. I love the characters, the dialogue and each new challenge presented to Cat and Bones in every book. They are not deep stories and there is quite a large emphasis on romance and sex, rather than mysteries, but they're pleasurable and addictive... like chocolate. And they're also better than a great deal of the paranormal genre because Jeaniene Frost writes fantastic characters and banter between them.

It's more than just paranormal r

Cat’s got her hands full in this one. As the Red Reaper, she’s been on death’s door plenty of times. But when a threat to all women arises, Cat can’t seem to keep her temper at bay. Vengeance must be served and Cat is more than willing to dish it out.

Kramer, a sick-minded ghost who has the ability to become flesh and bone on All Hollow’s Eve is on the rampage, willing to brutalize women he believes to be witches. In his human years, he has brutalized woman and burned them alive. Beyond death, he

I own every book Jeaniene Frost has written. I Love Cat and Bones. The first four books in the series are just plain old awesome. The last book (5) was just OK, it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I think I rated it four stars, but more of 3.5. This latest book--One Grave at a Time, just wasn't that good. I'm sorry to say it, because I really love Ms. Frost, and I don't want to insult her hard work, but I owe it to my blog readers to put aside my personal feelings towards the author, and give my ...more

I'm hoping and praying that Frost has the strength to be one of the few authors out there who are able to carry her hero & heroine through to the end of their series while keeping them both alive and happily together as a couple. If any two characters ever deserved a HEA, its Cat and Bones. They are the best couple character ever written hands down. They are madly in love with no bull***t and no stupid love triangle (SO SO sick of authors writing 2 or more guys for their heroine to choose from). ...more

This is going to hurt me to say this but......

This is the weakest book in this series.....WEAK WEAK WEAK!!!!!

Whewwwwww that hurt my heart to say that because every book in this series so far is KICK ASS!!!! Let me just say I only have ONE more book to complete this series so 6 out of 7 KICK ASS books is a great ratio!!!!

However will one book keep me away from finishing the MOST BADASS PNR/UF SERIES> I've ever read.......

So onward I march to last book!!!!!!

I have been looking forward to this book for ages, I am a HUGMONGOUS fan of this series, Cat and Bones are one of my favorite couples and well, you all know how I feel about Bones....*trails off into a day dream involving silk ties, whipped cream and big fangs* Anyway, so I was looking forward to this book, but for me it didn't quite reach 5 stars.

I bought it.
I started reading it.
I tried.

It was not bad.
I have seen most of it already.
I was in Cat's head.
Bones was sexy and cool.
They did some stuff.
There was a week little plot.

Then I just stopped.
I did not finish it.

Bones is Spike from Buffy,right?
Well, I loved Spike!
But if I google James Marsters I will realize yet again that his time is up. He aged.

He is no longer Spike.
Bones is no longer Bones.

He did not age. He just dulled.

Engaging and fun, Cat and Bones' next-to-last book is a light read that still explores and deepens their smoldering relationship--something that I find very enduring.
Jeann (Happy Indulgence)
Being an avid reader of the first 5 books, it's evident that the series is sadly beginning to lose momentum. It seemed like the author was clutching at straws with the plot to create a completely out-of-the-blue arch enemy that you somehow fail to care about.

What I have loved in all of the previous books, even when Cat and Bones were fighting, was the strong emotions causing through the main character, the fast-paced action, the great side-characters, the witty remarks, and of course the passion

ONE GRAVE AT A TIME was everything and more after my slight disappointment with the last book. I think I didn't realize how much I actually missed Cat and Bones until I started reading this book and then my love came back blasting in at full speed. Cat and Bones are back again this time are trying to capture a bad guy who is already dead and the question that arises is how are you suppose to kill someone that is already dead.

ONE GRAVE AT A TIME is more filled with action then romance if you ask

Although the story was a little cheesier than normal, it was still fun in the halloween haunt type of way. Bones and Cat are still adjusting to Cat's strange powers and changes, when they suddenly have a new villain - a powerful ghost determined to kill 'witches' every Halloween to boost his own power. Aaaaaah *smells the book* the sweet smell of one of my favorite drugs. I’m addicted to this series. And I have a major crush on Bones. There I said it! So imagine how excited I was about this. Hell I was counting down the days until it got released. *sigh* I kind of regret it now.

The score I’m going to give it will be a bit cruel. I really wanted to give it a perfect one but I can’t. It doesn’t compare to the previous ones. *prays* Please don’t ruin another series for me! I’ve already have a cou

I had such a good time with this book. I first read this book almost 7 years ago and was pretty eager to revisit it. I didn't remember a lot of the details from this book so it almost felt like I was reading for the first time. I thought that this was a really fun installment in the series even if it wasn't one of my favorites. It was really great to spend a few hours with some of my favorite vampires.

After the last book was a bit of let down for me I was a little nervous starting this one. But I can say it was better than the last one. While not as good as some books in the series it is by far not bad.

We have lot going on for our characters in this book. The Government is on their butts and changes are happening in her old units and none of them are good. They also trying to find a way for her Uncle to pass on all the while trying to catch a gho

And the Cat and Bone’s Saga continues.

Basically Cat and Bone’s relationship is solid and the story is about them two with whatever the issues are in that book.

I’m okay with that. I know there’s no drama between Cat and Bones, but this story was kind of interesting. The beginning was a touch too slow, but it picked up towards the middle end.

There’s a ghost that is causing problems and Cat is on the case!

I found the ghost story line interesting and different. The ghost is a piece of work a

For those of you who don't know about Heinrich Kramer I suggest you look him up. You can totally hate me later.

In this book, Heinrich is a rather sadistic ghost who has kept his reign of female hatred going for centuries. He has found a way to take a corporeal form on All Hallows Eve to continue his infamous witch hunts. However, Cat and Bones are on the case and stand up to him in a way he can't ignore.

I struggled a bit with this book because of how angry I got about the circumstances in it.

Update 7 June 2011:

Okay, I really want this to be published already, I keep re-reading the series thinking that by the time I do this will be out, unfortunately I can't time travel to October...

I'll be honest. I went into this book fearing the worst. The last installment in this series left me wanting and I was afraid the best days of Cat & Bones were behind us. This book didn't quite measure up to the glory of the early books, but it was better than the last one.

It picks up shortly after where the events of This Side of the Grave left off. Cat is still carrying the residual effects of Marie Laveau's blood magic. And her uncle Don has appeared to her as a ghost. He can't move on to the
