I thought maybe we could share what we were currently reading and if anyone had book recommendations to share those as well.

I am currently reading Voyager by Diana Gabaldon, book 3 in the Outlander Series.

I just finished the Bronze Horseman last night. Cried just a tad, not like the Dawn Stag (Dalriada trilogy). I'm anxious to read the next two in the series. Ordered them through Alibis books and they should be delivered by Feb 6th. Hate worrying about Tatiana & Alexander for 2 weeks...going through life without closure. Tried starting Sara Donati's most recent book last night, but I keep thinking about T&A (yep...gotta add that in too).

I am reading 'A Reliable Wife' by Robert Goolrick.. It's interseting, and different.

I was thinking of re-reading TBH and T&A because I really blew through them the first time. (you know, one of those I-don't-really-need-sleep-do-I?-marathons)
Right now I'm trying to get through "Chronicles of the Gringoes" which is non-fiction about the Mexican-American War.
A fun book that I have been interested in is Barbara Kyle's The Queen's Lady (Tudor era, I think). I heard her speak at a conference and the character relationship she described sounded intriguing.

Haven't yet. They don't have it at my library (they have the sequel, King's Daughter).

K.. So I have now just picked up 'On a Highland Shore', by Kathleen Givens

Since Outlander, I haven't read very many books on Scotland. It's always a letdown. Let me know what you think of that one.

So far, It is very good. I too, haven't been able to find any good Highlander books since Outlander, DG has ruined us all for sure. I am enjoying this one, although I am only 90ish pages in.

Yes, there has only been mention of a few clans, so far. A marraige between clans is discussed for political reasons.. etc. etc. I like the dialogue so far. Its rare to find a Scottish book, where it seems authentic. And so far, its not pathetically mushy. (For lack of a better word) Lol., it seems more reality based to me. But like I said, Im only 1/4 of the way in.

Actually, my love affair with the Celts started when I read How The Irish Saved Civilization by Thomas Cahil. First they were warrriors, then they made books. What's not to love?

While I'm the first to admit that I love great love scenes, I find that I feel the same way about the corny-mushy stuff. There was a local writer profiled in the Sacramento Bee a few weeks ago who had written some Scottish historical fiction romance. I took one look at the Fabio model on the cover with long hair flying in the wind and the heaving bosoms and thought - no way! Too bad, because the author was having a book signing at a local Borders and if the cover wasn't so awful, I might have gone. With you on the corny stuff.

Oh, I dont deny that I love a great love scene... Just not something reminiscent of a cheesy 80's porn. lol. Books for me, HAVE to have a love story, and I prefer the Historical genre.

I agree with you ladies. I love love scenes! Even the steamy ones! As long as they are done in good taste. I can't say that I have read a corny one. Maybe because I am somewhat choosy about the authors that I do read, especially in the romance genre.

I have read TONS of cheesy ones. For the most part, they are done in good taste though. And I too, am not averse to a little bit of steam. Keeps it interesting.

K... so I've decided to continue on with the DG series, I stopped after Fiery Cross, cause I couldn't deal with the fact, that I would have to wait 3 bloody years till the next one is out. I figured I would save ABOSAA, and Echo till closer to it's release, But have found that I am weak. After finishing the TBH series, I admit defeat to my lack of willpower... On to A Breath Of Snow And Ashes...

I will do, definitely. I am preparing myself for that... crying. I didn't cry while reading TBH. Have the tissues ready for me :)
I think I will finish that then go back to Voyager. I can't do both at once.

I have no idea. It is torture, but I do love them! They are also more satisfying to read since they are so involved. Emotionally and otherwise.

I'm still reading Drums of Autumn. I love it and would probably be done with it by now if our daughter wasn't teething right now. So here is my dilemma...I still have 400 pages of DOA left to read and our library just called to let me know that the copy of Tatiana and Alexander that they ordered for me has arrived. It's going to take all the self control I have to keep reading DOA while I have Tatiana and Alexander sitting on my bookshelf!

lol How long do you have T and A for cause I found it was a quicker read then drums I read it in a day and a half or so if you own drums. I'd putit down. Quite the dilemma lol

Your getting to the point of no return. After 180 I could NOT put it down.

Thanks I don't know why I'm such a strong reader everything else I suck at math, spelling, science lol but give me a good book and I'm in. My kids can't stand when I get into a good book ,they tell me I'm addicted lol. When I removed all electronics for 7 days from the house, they agreed (husband included) but I had to give up reading for 7 day's that was the worst experience 3 bored boys with not even a book to retreat to. thank Goodness I didn't do 2 weeks
