I'm going to give a little WARNING, since my mini-review of Death's Mistress below might contain some gentle spoilers for some readers.

SPOILER ALERT

1. "F" title Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
2. Bday (Amanda) Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning
4. Favorite Death's Mistress by Karen Chance 2/10/10 5* Excellent! Chance can do no wrong, as far as I'm concerned. I don't know how she does it, but she keeps getting better. I am so thoroughly hooked on her Cassie/Dory world that I suffer serious withdrawals between installments. I really enjoyed Mircea's (softer side) character development in this book, and (even if Dory insists on vehemently denying it) the gentling of the father-daughter relationship. Gave me warm-fuzzies. And WTF is up with LC? Love him, but he needs to get over his little self-pity-party and man up. Seriously. I get that we need to see him suffer and work through things, Karen, I get it. And I appreciate why you do it, and how you do it (love the little shared memory flashbacks, it really saves on tedious retelling and solves the problem of when they will talk about it, and how, etc. - excellent plot device). But he's gonna lose Dory if he doesn't sh*t or get off the pot. She's not exactly the most patient person on the planet. They are both so darn stubborn I just wanna knock their heads together! See what I mean? Chance gets us so invested in these characters that we suffer actual anxiety over their actions and what may or may not happen down the road. That is the sign of a true artist, in my... well, book. :)
5. Red cover Red Fire by Deidre Knight 2/16/10 2.5* Loved the premise but this one fell short for me. It was cheesy and the world-building felt clumsy and left too many unanswered questions. We get it, he has wings... how about spending more time talking about why and back it up with some believable history? And I needed more info about Shay's demon-hunter family history. Sorry, the author could have done so much more with this one.
7. PNR Dark Seduction by Brenda Joyce
10. Reader's choice Poltergeist by Kat Richardson 2/12/10 3* not as good as the first, too techy, alot of geek-speak and not enough action. I will still follow the series (well, because I already bought the rest of them) but I really hope we get back to the ride we started with Greywalker.

Read for this challenge
Death's Mistress (Dorina Basarab, #2) by Karen Chance Red Fire (Gods of Midnight, #1) by Deidre Knight Poltergeist (Greywalker, Book 2) by Kat Richardson

To read
Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, #2) by Jim Butcher Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Dark Seduction (Masters of Time, #1) by Brenda Joyce

Hi Deanna,
I got nervous when you asked and so I went to check, "Why did I pick Tessa Dare for the Indiana Connection?" I went back to the February Suggestions Thread and Annvelwis listed that Tessa Dare was from Indiana. But since you said that Fantasticfiction listed her as being from SoCalif I thought I should maybe do a bit more research. Through a Google search I found on Tessa's website blog an entry where she was talking about the NCAA tournament and how "being from Indiana" she was programmed to love basketball. So, I don't know when, but at sometime she must have lived in Indiana. Does that clear the way for you to add her to your February list? I hope so. It's good to know that people are keeping an eye on me or who knows what I might read in March!

Hope you enjoy the book as I did! -- Lynne
