"bitten by Cupid" short stories with Lynsays Sands, "My soul to take", "my soul to lose", and "inked". Gotta say, Inked has been great, buy I'm keeping it by my bed, and can't read more than 15 mins without dropping off these days. Love Rachel Vincent and Lynsay Sands, as soon as I'm done with these I have "Body and blood", "Vampire transgression" and "vampire thrall" by Michael Schiefelbein, gay vampire series.

I love the breed books! My favorite is the first Breed story I read in "Beyond the dark" with stories by Angela Knight, Diane Whiteside and Emma Holly as well as Lora Leigh. I'm sure it isn't the first breed story, but it made me want to read all of them
reading Rogue right now. Has anyone read
? I have it and it is next on my list but haven't heard much about it...
Just finished Guilty Pleasures. The Anita Blake series. Pretty interesting i'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books. There seems to be alot of them!
Cherra wrote: "reading Rogue right now. Has anyone read

It was a really unique storyline, and had an interesting twist at the end. If it weren't for the slow pace I would have given it a 4 or 4.5, but as it was I rated it with a 3.
No harm in trying it.. you might like it more than I did.

thanks for the feedback! I find it interesting that out of my 69 friends--not 1 has read this book. several have it on their TBR list.
Cherra wrote:Has anyone read Trick of the Light (Trickster, #1)? I have it and it is next on my list but haven't heard much about it... I tried it but it was so slow I gave it up after about 60 pages. One thing I really liked was the American Indian Bartender. People were rude to him and kept asking him what his Indian name was and he would make up really off the wall names, like "Man hung like a moose" or "I drink a lot of beer" for some reason that struck me a super funny.
Jaime, I consider scifi romance its own genre, but I can definitely see how some might group it with pnr. :)
I finished On the Edge it was Fantastic i'm looking forward to the next book.I also loved the sneak peek at Magic Bleeds.I'm now reading Heart of Darkness Anthology.
Leslie wrote: "Just finished Guilty Pleasures. The Anita Blake series. Pretty interesting i'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books. There seems to be alot of them!"Leslie,
Wow! You have a really cool name. SMILE
I just finish Guily Pleasures last week. I liked it.

It was VERY slow. It was such an interesting concept, but as I said in my review it was almost like pulling teeth to get the action and the story moving.
I have decided that I have book ADD, the book really has to pull me in quickly or I just can't handle it. For me there is nothing worse than a tedious read.
Darcy wrote: "I have decided that I have book ADD, the book really has to pull me in quickly or I just can't handle it. For me there is nothing worse than a tedious read."That's funny you said that, I was just writing my review for Matters of the Blood and I said the same thing. People are discouraged when they pick up a book and it doesn't pull them in quickly. I stuck with it and it ended up being really good, but those beginnings really matter to readers! Many people (including myself) put books down because the beginning sucks.
I have never not finished a book, no matter how much I don't like it--I am always thinking I am going to miss out on something awesome if I stop. :)But some of my fave series had 1st book syndrome--slow getting into, lots of world building & info dumpage, and if I wouldn't have stuck with it, I would have totally missed out on the awesome series. So I have learned that a slow first book does not a crappy series make. :)
Oh, yeah, I really appreciate a quick beginning -I like to be thrown into the thick of things- so I can sympathize if you're having trouble with a book. I have put down a few if they were just intolerable.
I finished Dark Stranger by Susan Sizemore. I really enjoyed it. Great alien and vampire story. I'm now reading
Jess wrote: "I hate 1st book syndrome!"I read "Staked" by J. F. Lewis, and thought it was great! Joined his fan club, waited on tenterhooks (or whatever) for the next one, "revamped", it was sooo bad I almost took it back to the B&N and demanded my money back. It's rough when the first book by an author is bad, because then it's too easy to never read anything else by them. I think it's just as bad to have the second book be terrible. Did anyone else read these books? Maybe my expectations were too high
I read both books by JF Lewis. I thought they were ok. Not anything I would run out to get right away, but not the bottom of the barrel.
Leslie wrote: "Just finished Guilty Pleasures. The Anita Blake series. Pretty interesting i'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books. I love it, the scenes and the books, but I've heard tons of complaints from people who think there is too much. I think it's all part of the evolution of a character/series and an author. My 19yo daughter has read them all, she's a bit of a prude, and said she just "skimmed" through those bits. Otherwise she loved them also. And they sure cranked my husband up! :)
Darcy wrote: "I read both books by JF Lewis. I thought they were ok. Not anything I would run out to get right away, but not the bottom of the barrel. "So maybe I was over-reacting about revamped. Didn't it seem as though he spent the whole first 2-3 chapters going back over every detail of the first book? I hate that
I don't like that either, Marisella, and that's a long time to recap. 2-3 chapters? I was very interested to read that series though because I heard good things and I was curious to read one by a male author. :D
Leslie wrote: "Leslie wrote: "Just finished Guilty Pleasures. The Anita Blake series. Pretty interesting i'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books. There seems to be alot of them!"Leslie,

:) your names pretty amazing too! I'm on the third book now.

currently reading
-Bound to shadows by Keri Arthur
-Circus Of The Damned by Laurell K Hamilton
I finished Heart of DarknessI loved the 1st story by Gena Showalter it's part of her Lords of the Underworld series which i really enjoy, the other 2 stories were ok.I'm now starting Dark Time
Darcy, I see what you mean about the secondary characters. As an author, you always worry that a secondary will steal the show. My series has a different featured couple in each book, but I was surprised that several readers wanted one of the minor character's story next. He was kind of a bonehead, and frankly, I wasn't sure if he was even going to survive. I thought better of that!New_user, yeah, I can see how sci-fi romance might fit in with PNR and then again, maybe not.

I didn't even realize you were an author until your comments here and then the earlier the same day one of my friends marked your books as to read. I thought the covers looked great and made me want to check them out. My library carries them and they are now in transit waiting for me to check them out. I'll be able to see what you mean out the character.
I think some sci-fi can be paranormal but others can't. The best example of that would be Sirantha Jax books by Ann Aguirre. I really like the series but is it in any way paranormal.

My book journal "Book Lust", said that if a book doesn't grab you, it's ok to put it down. Sometimes we can pick the book up months or even years later, and just love it. Science fiction was my first love, lately I can't read any sci-fi, it just irritates the crap out of me! gimme some smut or a csi mystery.
I am reading
. Not sure what is compelling me to keep reading this series as I don't like the main character and just thought the first 2 were just ok. Usually if I am not interested a lot I give them up.
Marisella, I haven't gotten to Fool yet, though I have it here. His next book is a follow-up to You Suck. Now he'll have his very own vampire trilogy! My favorites by him are still A Dirty Job and Lamb. I even love the cover of Dirty Job--it's what made me discover him in the first place!
Are you all caught up with Green's series? The man has a lot of books! I've read some Nightside, and two of the Secret Histories. Looking forward to working through all the rest!
Michelle M. wrote: "Love Simon R. Green and Christopher Moore!"So do I! I have the new Nightside books,
, nearing the top of The Pile.
I finished reading Dark Time it was a pretty good book.I'm going to read Fallen next. I'm seeing alot of mixed reviews so I'm hoping I'll like it.

I'm about to start Blood Trail.
Started ad fnished the book to Wicked Lovely. Had issues with it. Will hold off for a bit before i read the 2nd book.Currently on A Rush of Wings it is interesting but very confusing.

They are ok, not something you need to run right out to buy, but if you stumble upon them and have nothing else to read it will fill the time.
I finished Fallen i liked it.It is similar to some books I have read but still unique in its own way.I'm now going to read Bite Marks bk 6 in the series.
Darcy wrote: "I am reading

I just finished Scorched and really liked it. Not as good as Ravenous but still a good read. I'm moving on to
Ellen wrote: Darcy wrote: "I am reading Betrayals (Strange Angels, #2)." You have to tell me what's that one like! I read the first one, and I absolutely loved it!! Ellen ~ I finished this one. If you really liked the first one you should like this one. They end up going to the school, where you learn a little more about the history of the different species and because nothing can ever go perfect someone is out to get Dru. She gets help from friends, but it gets crazy. Let me know what you think when you read it.
Valorie wrote: I just finished Scorched and really liked it. Not as good as Ravenous but still a good read. I agree with you. I think what turned me off was I thought the next book would be about the guys that worked with Alessandro. I really liked a lot of them. So I started to read this one and I was like "What, Mac again?" Looks like those guys were just for the first book and we won't see them again, as the 3rd one is going to focus on Holly's sister.

I think she mentioned in an interview awhile ago that the 4th book will include more of the other guys. I really hope she writes about Perry (the wolf/computer teacher) I have a secret crush on him!
