Ok, is it just me, or is reading a book on the fae really hard?? Really? I have tried before to read LKH's series on the fae and I never got into it. I had to make myself finish this one. There was nothing but sex in this book. I would be reading it at work, and I know my cheeks were bright red. This is the first series I will not read every book in. I just can not make myself read it.

Amelia, I saw where you just finished Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, I so LOVED that book!! I am really looking forward to seeing how this author does. I want to know more about Patch. I also really liked the cover of this book.

1. Vampires: Death's Mistress, Karen Chance. (Loved every minute of it. Also fits 6, 7, 10) ****+
2. Werewolves: Magic Bites, Ilona Andrews. (Drags, but the series as a whole is well worth it. Also fits 1, 3, 6, 10) ***
3. Shifters: Magic Strikes, Ilona Andrews. (Funny AND emotional! Lots of action. Also fits 1, 2, 4, 6, 10) ****+
4. Gods/goddesses/immortals: Magic Burns, Ilona Andrews. (BIG improvement over the first. Also fits 1, 2, 3, 6, 10) ****
5. Demons/angels: My Soul to Save, Rachel Vincent. (Meh. Not bad, not great. Also fits 7.) ***
6. Witches/warlocks/sorcerers/mages: Would-Be Witch, Kimberly Frost. (Very cute. A little ADD at times, but funny. Think Sookie, but much more lighthearted and frantic. Also fits 1, 2, 9.) ****
7. Fae/fairies: On the Edge, Ilona Andrews.
8. Aliens/space cowboys, adventurers, mercenaries: Grimspace, Ann Aguirre.
9. Psychics/ghosts/humans with paranormal abilities: Grave Peril, Jim Butcher. (Series keeps getting better and better. Also fits 1, 6, 7, 10.) ****
10. Hunters/warriors/slayers/guardians: Kick @$$, Anthology.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Shannon, who cares if it's cheap? It's all the same. I actually make my own Irish Cream sometimes. It tastes like the most delicious milkshake evah.

My Dad and I bond over British comedy too!

Amelia, my platonic mindmate, I commend you on your choice. Eric, his teeny red undies, and his award-winning ass will delight.

Mel, you are shameless. But I approve. You're trying for Outlander again, hmn? I will be checking the updates!

Laura, I was perfectly happy to drop that potato, hot or not. I guess I'm the fickle wench after all, not you!

Lynn, I think you'd do better with books that do not feature the traditional nasty fae. Try Shanna Swendson's series, starting with Enchanted Inc., perhaps? Karen Chance's books also have lots of Fae floating around, from the cruel to the fun, but always tricksy.

Ugh, not so, I found out last night! I found an even cheaper one at the grocery store that came in a jug with a handle - for $20. I figured, why not? Yeah, I could actually feel fumes going out my nose. I think once you get to a certain price point you're better off drinking rubbing alcohol - at least for the taste.

Lynn, you've read a couple of Richelle Mead's books so I would suggest her Dark Swan series which starts with Storm Born. These fae were easy to read about. I read it for my fae book and instantly downloaded the next one so I wouldn't have to wait for the paperback to arrive!

Lynn,

You might want to try Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire. It's a Fae book without a lot of sex. Also, the Fae doesn't have to be the main character for the challenge. Many of Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series contain characters who are fae.

It helps me keep track of what I really though of a book. Even just a small note to remind me why I did or didn't like it. This is actually the reason I joined Goodreads. =)

But it does take time and effort and means I tend to delay updating my currently-reading list. So I understand why people dont, its just really nice when they do so we all can share a little bit of each others experience.

Its a great way to get recommendations (I've been doing that too!) so maybe a little positive feedback helps. =D

Come on, you know you'd try it too! It's like wine in a box, you have to try it at least once. Plus real Baileys has gone up in price a lot, if I got the same amount as the jug it'd cost me twice as much. Now I have more money for books, and that's really all that matters.

That's totally what I did, and I just put the name of the book as the name of the link.

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Thanks, Cherra.
I think what was getting me was that I didn't know how to get to just my review, but I see that when you're editing a review, there's a little link on the right that says "view review."

I'm off to link my reviews in my challenge post!

message 944: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I really liked it! I started and finished it yesterday. I didn't get to sleep until 2 this morning! LOL. I think I am going to start Hush, Hush tonight. Do you have the other books in the Mercy series? If so, can I borrow them?

message 945: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ | 519 comments I am glad you liked it. I have not bought the rest in the series. I got that one at 1/2 price bookstore. My lib. actually had the whole series. You will like Hush, Hush! It will read quickly.

message 946: by Lisa (last edited Jan 19, 2010 06:19AM) (new)

Lisa I think I may buy this series for my reader. They have the first three as a bundle. Is her Alpha and Omega series as good as this one? Is Hush, Hush going to be part of a series?

message 947: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ | 519 comments The Alpha and Omega series I have. You met one of the characters in that book already, Charles, Bran's son. I like the Mercy series better, but it is a good series. Hush, Hush is going to be a series, the new one comes out later this year. I hope you can get it on your reader as a bundle. It is a good series, one of my faves!
