Rebecca Paradise (Becky29485) | 15 comments I'm Becky from South Carolina. I've been obsessed with Dean Koontz since I read Lightning in eighth grade. I can remember hiding that book in my school book so my teacher wouldn't notice. I'm happy I found this group!

Hi Becky. It's a great group. Very friendly. I've found people who will discuss things and answer questions for me. Took me awhile to learn to navigate but even those questions get answered. Glad you're an out of the closet reader now. LOL

Corey | 17 comments Hey everyone, my name is Corey, I'm always looking for different social groups on Goodreads that hold my interest and I love books by Dead Koontz and I just happened to find this group and decided to join. I'm a HUGE fan of Dean Koontz, I think he's a brilliant writer and I've read several of his books, and still have many more to read.

message 1316: by Lori (new)

Lori | 10 comments Hello! My name is Lori and I have been a Dean Koontz fan since I read my first novel of his [INTENSITY] in 1997. My favorite novel by him was/is WATCHERS and I have read dozens of his books including his most beloved ones re: Trixie who was his Golden (Retriever) Furbaby for nearly 8 years before her passing that happened much too soon. Much like I lost my Golden (Retriever) Furbaby in 2009 much too soon and that causes so much heart ache that the parents of those Goldens is beyond description.

I love how Mr. Koontz incorporates people with disabilities as characters into his novels as I am a person with a severe disability and can totally relate. I also love how he incorporates dogs as characters into his novels since I love canines and have had dogs since I was a baby and consider them no less than family members with their hearts of gold and their endless devotion to their owners.

Mr. Koontz is a wonderful mystery/suspense novel who writes with passion and character. I hope he is able to write for many more years!

message 1325: by Lori (new)

Lori | 10 comments Hi! My name is Lori. I am 51 years old and have been reading Dean Koontz novels and mini-novels or novelettes since the 1980s if not before. The first book I remember reading is INTENSITY and I loved it! My husband and I both loved the Chris Snow novels and we were always wishing he would continue them.

I love all of the Odd Thomas novels but have a few left to read. I have also read a signed copy of LIFE IS GOOD by Trixie Koontz; edited by Dean Koontz. BLISS TO YOU by Trixie Koontz as told by Dean Koontz, A BIG LITTLE LIFE - A Memoir of a Joyful Dog named Trixie and so many more! Looking forward to reading Ashley Bell!

I met Dean Koontz when he wrote to me. A most wonderful man with a most wonderful mission!

Goldenly,
Lori

Hi Lori. Welcome to Koontzland. You received a letter from him. Did you also meet him in person?

message 1327: by Lori (new)

Lori | 10 comments Goodreads has been getting me a terrible time today by not letting me a reply for some odd reason. No, I did not meet Mr. Koontz in person only by letter. We share a love of Goldens and helping people with severe disabilities.

message 1328: by Diane Lynch (new)

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments Lori. I also love Goldens. I put mine asleep a month ago. Inoperable brain tumor. She was 7. I miss her every minute of everyday. The golden I had before that made it to 14 1/2 years old. I'm onboard with disabled people too. Once in awhile Goodreads gives me a problem. Other people occasionally have problems but never all at the same time it seems. IDK why.

Welcome to Koontzland Diamond! I think a lot of really cool people have names that start with "D" and you are in good company with Dean, Diane, Dustin and many other awesome persons. I used to like that the actor playing Skreech on Saved by the Bell was named Dustin Diamond.

Well, anyway, From the Corner of His Eye is our October Group Read and will be featured through Halloween. Lightning is our November Group Read and Ashley Bell is Dean's new release for December 8th.

Happy Reading Everyone!

message 1344: by Chad (new)

Chad Lorion (goodreadscomcmichaellorion) Hello, everyone. I'm Chad. My first Koontz book was Watchers back in the early 80s. My favorites are Watchers, Strangers, Odd Thomas, Life Expectancy. Somewhere in the past few years Koontz lost me as a reader--his books kept following the same kind of storyline, the good guys were way to good, and I thought Koontz had lost his touch. This past weekend I picked up What the Night Knows and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Looking forward to perhaps enjoying Koontz's writing once again.

Welcome to Koontzland Chad! I hope you enjoy What The Night Knows. I feel the same way about Koontz's recent books. We'll see how Ashley Bell holds up in December. Life Expectancy is my #1 favorite Dean Koontz Book.

I wasn't impressed with wasn't impressed much with What the Night Knows the when I first read it as a new release. However, I recently re-read What The Night Knows and really enjoyed it. Different times and situations change my perceptions.

Lightning is our November Group Read and Odd Thomas is our December Group Read. Ashley Bell will be released on December 8th and we will feature the new release for two months. Hope to see you in some of the discussion threads :-)
