Koontzland - Dean Koontz discussion
Welcome to Koontzland!

Introduce Yourself (if you want to :-)

I just watched Odd Thomas on DirectTV. I wanted to be sure to catch it there in case it doesn't come to theaters in my area. Really good movie. Loved it! Like you, I hope it's released in theaters and does well. It's a very good movie and the humor from the book definitely shows in the movie.
As far as favorite Koontz books, it seems to be a common theme that the first one we read is the favorite. My first Koontz book was Watchers and as much as I enjoy most of his books, it's still my all-time favorite.

I thought the movie felt kind of rushed and I wish they would have cast a different actor as Odd but other than those things I liked it it a lot too.

He has so many books that he wrote early on in the 70s under other names: Brian Coffey, Deanna Dwyer (I think that's what it is), and I can't remember the rest...

I liked that one so much that I listened to the audio version (My To Read list is so long, I NEVER read a book a second time) and it totally creeped me out worse than the book!!

The neighbor walking after and the semen rain freaked me out. Also the television going all wonky. It was raining and nighttime when I started it. I jumped under the covers and a..."
I learned a long time ago to not read Koontz at night! LOL

77 Shadow Street was an awesomely messed up book!

I have been a Koontz fan since, ahem, longer than most of you have been reading (I read "Phantoms" when it was first published and I was in grad schoo..."
I wish he still did signings, I would LOVE to meet him, even if it's just for the two minutes to take a picture and sign my book. You're so lucky!

Seriously?! I didn't know it was available to view. I don't have cable, is there any other way I can find it that you know of?

I'll be one of the three in the Google+ Hangout with him today.

So good to see someone else who appreciates Swan Song! Epic story and will always be my favorite

I am SO bad at keeping up on these things.
How are all of you new members liking our "little" group?

I guess I will have to look into Swan Song. I am currently having an off-Koontz season. I was disappointed with Dean's 2013 releases.
I've been doing sort of the same, Dustin. I'm going through one of those phases. I just hoping it passes soon.

:-) Thank you for the recommendation. I never read The Stand. I watched part of the miniseries when it was on Television in the 90's. Does the story take place in Boulder, Colorado? - because that is where I live :-)

During these times - I do enjoy Dean's older books though :-) I will be reading the novellas in April. I hope The City or Saint Odd lights the Koontz fire again. Maybe I need to watch the Odd Thomas Movie this weekend - that might help.

Me too and I'm not ashamed ... watched it twice now, first time on my own and blubbered like a baby, second time with my girl and tried hard to "man-up" ... failed there lol

I liked him in The Beaver with Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson :-) Youtube trailer: http://youtu.be/ttv-gvOzaPw

I have been a fan of Koontz for many years I use to collect the hard backs and read the paperbacks until the covers fell off !
My first book was "The Door to December" in 1985.
