Oh wow!
I do love that book cover. Even more than the other cover for it with the people on it.

I saw that you were reading Intensity soon. Haven't read that one so I'm on board!

I just stumbled upon your group and wanted to introduce myself.
I've been reading Dean Koontz since around 1990 and love his work .... actually, he is my favorite fiction writer. I love his recurring themes of good prevailing over evil ... with unsuspecting common people being capable of heroic deeds; the hilarious and often sarcastic banter in the dialog with so many of his characters; and his wonderful prose that paints pictures in your mind as if you are actually there in the scene. I am one that really loves his detailed descriptions, as opposed to so many reviewers that are frustrated by his descriptions and his use of uncommon words and just want the plot to move faster. To me, those very traits of his writing put me in the story, cause me to look up and add new words to my vocabulary and research new subjects in architecture, art, etc. Oh, and of course, I love the dogs!
I tried to list as many as I could of his books that I have read. Some I don't remember well and have been going back and re-reading. I'm currently re-reading "Dark Rivers of the Heart" and liking it much more than I remember from my initial read of it.
My favorite Koontz novels so far are "Watchers"; "The Taking"; "From the Corner of His Eye" and "Fear Nothing"; the first three Odd Thomas books; "The Face" and the "Frankenstein" series.

Great ... I liked "Darkest Evening of the Year" quite a lot, "Intensity" I enjoyed but not one of my favorites, and I'm going to read "The Silent Corner" with you! Thanks for the warm welcome! I hope my opinions aren't offensive ... I'm kind of a Koontz "freak", so I do have opinions, but how can one really go wrong?
It sounds as if I'm a bit of and outsider, however, as besides "Watchers" ... which everyone loves ... I have always held "The Taking" to be one of Mr. Koontz's most mesmerizing books .... it's almost total prose and poetry to me. I love the rain ... I could live forever just listening to rain .... just not slimy rain! : =}

Thanks for the warm welcome! How kind! ; =}

Bertie, you & your opinions are welcome :-) It's nice to hear different perspectives & I agree with your take on The Taking.

a household of Koontz readers and we were all mesmerized by this book!! It gave us all big scares too!! We talk about why it should not ever be a movie too.....how could they possibly capture that feeling of "being there" on film....only his writing does that🤗

What is everyone reading?

Welcome to Koontzland Nicole :-)
During the month of June we are reading The Darkest Evening of The Year, Intensity and The Silent Corner (New Release, June 20). We read at least one Dean Koontz book every month.

I'm Eric from NJ. I've loved to read for as long as I can remember. My mother let me read King and Koontz since my pre-teen years. I'm now a 34 year old who always looks forward to his next release.
I'm pretty sure I've read every one of his mainstream books and am now into audiobooks, so I imagine I will end up listening to some again.

We are Akay Brothers and we love anything and everything that we can lay our hands to read from Dean Koontz. We absolutely love Velocity, The Husband and Intensity.
What we love about him is the way he structure the whole plot and once you are into it, you cannot leave it till you get to the last page.
We also pen down our thoughts and once we have something credible to show we try to give it to our small base of readers for free.
Our first book has recently been published on Amazon, titled as Jason Cage.

So, I guess, in short, if you'd like, then feel free to add me as a 'reading friend' here on goodreads.
I'm Dutch, I love to read different genre's. I have had a little reading block this year, but reread some commics, which I usually don't add here, but it was so much that I added the combined volumes.
Lately I seem to enjoy Dutch writers, but I am into a lot. From Stephen King and Dean Koontz to classics, to romance, to some science fiction. I even can enjoy a YA or chicklit every now and then.
So, basically. hope to gain some new reading friends here. thanks

Yeah. We are already friends :-) Good Luck on catching up on your reading. I had increased my reading challenge during the Summer because I was ahead but now I'm behind due to working extra hours this Fall.

YES yay, we're friends for a while now, but you have more than I have lol. Anyhoo, it's been fun keeping track of what you read and your year challenge, but I would love to add some new people to the lists as well.

Awesome, welcome Gina, which ones did you check off of the 'To read list' so far?

Glad you enjoyed The Silent Corner :-) I really love Jane Hawk. I enjoyed Ashley Bell, but am enjoying the Jane Hawk series even more. Since Dean has written so many books, you're sure to find other favorites.

Thanks, Barbara. I've heard his early work is definitely a good place to start.

Barbara, Watcher and Phantoms were my first to Koontz books and I rate these books as my favorite Koontz books.

I'm Rhi. I read a lot of different stuff but Koontz is my favorite author. I read my first Koontz book when I was 11 (Velocity) and was hooked instantly! I spent my teen years stealing his paperback's from my mom lol :) I recently fell in love with collecting books and, if I remember my last count correctly, I have 44 books just by Koontz alone and I'm working on getting even more. False Memory is definitely my favorite book of his I've read to date - I've read it three times and have it in both hardcover and paperback for some strange attachment reason lol.
In addition to Koontz I love reading anything suspense, thriller, horror, etc. I also discovered a recent love for dystopian fiction as well :)
x

just like you....
"False Memory" awaits me on my bookshelf, I haven't read it so far, but I hope that I'll read it very soon....
Glad having you here with us!!

I've had Hanging On, on my Amazon Wish list for years, but haven't made the purchase yet. I did manage to get a copy of Star Quest, his first, years ago. For a first book, 1964 I think, it was pretty good. :-) Other than that though, I haven't gotten anything that's seriously out of print and hard to find. Not yet anyway. But I do have a lot of his from the 70's and especially the 80's that I'm hoping to someday get through. So far, I like his older books even better than the newer stuff coming out. But maybe I just haven't read the right newer books.
One Door Away from Heaven, is my favorite.
