What do we think about the ending with Rhysand? [Spoilers]

She said she felt a tug, a thread at her core. So it wasn't her tattooed arm and had nothing to do with the bargain. How could he have summoned her if the bond was over when amarantha killed her?

OMG... OMG you just made my day!!!

Also, having spent part of today re-reading all of the Feyre/Rhys scenes...oh my goodness. Guys, it's insane. I've read those scenes so many times for analysis, and with the info we have now, the parts that were always so ambiguous or strange just FIT. It was beautiful, and everything just made so much glorious sense. EVERYTHING Rhys does has these extra meanings and I just can't help but truly appreciate not only his character, but also the complexities that Sarah has layered in this plot. It's just mind-blowing honestly, and this book is just a huge credit to her ability as a writer. Few books have enraptured me as much as ACOTAR. (Now let's see how ACOMAF messes with my head hahaha).
@WinterRose Just YES haha. It's so true that Rhys has truly ALWAYS been the love interest. The clues are EVERYWHERE, if you pay attention and don't judge Rhys too quickly. Actually, I find the judgement of his character incredibly ironic because the readers who do that fall into the trap specific to Beauty and the Beast. That story is about looking beyond first appearances, about looking beyond the seemingly obvious--the masks--and while people were more than happy to do that for Tamlin (though his beast was never extreme), they limited themselves to looking at their main male hero. They didn't apply the lesson to the anti-hero as well, and they should have, because if there was any character who embodied the scariness or darkness of a beast character, it was Rhys. We were supposed to judge Rhys, just like all the other characters, but through Feyre we were supposed to learn how to read past his mask/facade to see the man underneath. Those who don't do that miss part of the point of the story.
Unfortunately, I'm sure that there will still be a lot of Rhys bashing after ACOMAF is released. There are going to be a lot of people who will be angry that Feyre falls in love with him, etc. and I KNOW they are going to say that book 1 was pointless now or that Rhys was abusive or that Tamlin's character was destroyed so Rhys could have the spotlight. Or maybe they'll say all of these things. It's unfortunate because it's so clear that this was Sarah's intention from the beginning, from the moment she said he appeared at Fire Night in her head and turned this retelling on its head.
As for Tamlin's character, I agree with Laura: his over protectiveness, his anger, his low communication skills, and his desire to see Feyre just safe and waiting at his manor were ALL depicted in ACOTAR. (And I was very frustrated by those aspects of his character. It's part of the reason why I never loved Feylin; their personalities are just so different, so they don't complement each other). Whatever Tamlin does in ACOMAF, I'm sure it will be in line with his character; it just may seem more extreme now when mixed with his trauma AND the fact that he doesn't have to hide his personality because of the curse anymore. Some people are going to be in for a rude awakening now that that fairy tale is over.

And I agree, Laura. Tamlin showed signs of his temper many times in ACOTAR. Like how his claws were always coming out. I think people tend to forget that it wasn't that Tamlin is super laid back necessarily--he didn't really care about Feyre at first, as Lucien himself pointed out. It wasn't until he fell for her that we see the more protective side, naturally. But the events under the mountain obviously are just going to fuel his already protective self. I was telling Aqsa that he's becoming a character that lets fear control him, and ultimately, it's this fear that will drive him and Feyre apart, mate bond or no.
It's important to note also that Rhysand was LETTING HER GO. He wasn't even going to tell her about the bond, it seems like. He only comes back when Feyre panics and seems to not want to marry Tamlin anymore. Despite this (view spoiler)

Also, having spent..."
We don't know that Feyre returns to the Spring Court around the earlier parts of the book. If the main plot is mostly going to happen at the Night Court, I think it more likely she will return around the middle of the story. Though i don't doubt that at the night court, she will hear news of Tamlin's reaction.
Who else thinks that Ianthe would support locking Feyre up in favor of protecting the cursebreaker from any more enemies?

For one thing, Rhysand planned to rely on Tamlin to kill Amarantha once the faeries got their powers back, but why Tamlin? Couldn't he have done so himself, given that it's implied he's much more deadly throughout the story?
Also, what was the logic behind the whole forced faerie wine/lurid dancing ordeal every night? Didn't that still seem a bit unnecessary on his part? He could have left her in her prison every night and Amarantha probably wouldn't have suspected him of harboring his love for Feyre. If he was motivated to anger Tamlin enough so that he'll be ready to kill her, again, couldn't he have accomplished the task when the time arrived?

This old thing? I think we all have seen it. I have probably seen/read every excerpt, spoiler, fan theory there is. Im such a feysand trash. I just cant sit and be a good girl. Thanks for posting the link tho, for those who may have missed it:))

Nooooo not now i have to sleep its like 9am shit /opens the link anyways/ /dies/

Three more weeks! Only three more weeks! I'm only holding on because I'll at least have the season premiere of Game of Thrones to hold me over.

since when is Feyre claustrophobic? I don't remember that :/
And yeah, i have to agree about Tamlin's mental state if he trashed the house. Maybe he woke up from a nightmare again, shifted into beast form just to guard his lands, somehow lost control and wrecked the house? eh...possible but not probable i think.

I've been on goodreads for a while but never commented on anything. Now I'm so obsessed with this book I can't deal alone, so here I am. I've been going through this discussion like mad since I found it last week. You have some awesome theories and such an in-depth analysis of everything. Anyways I was able to access the Google Books preview too and and even though I didn't uncover something as awesome as the a-german-bookworm, I have a couple of scenes (no screenshots, because I was trying to piece them together) but Tumblr won't show my post on the tag because of my having a new account or not having figured out how to use it or something. Anyhow, I send everything I had to Renée and she will post it later today. It is more plot centered than what has been shared so far and well, Mor is awesome!

omg!!!!!!!!!! I read it !!!!!! Ughhhhh Breathes... Indeed Shipper Spoiler Heaven

But here's what I'm wondering now. Rhysand obviously followed some scent (did he freaking scent her all the way from under the mountain, or was he already at fire night for some reason??) and found Feyre. He had a very brief conversation with her, and that was it. He had to know (if he knew the terms of Tam's curse) that there was a chance she was there because she was fulfilling the curse AKA on her way to falling in love with Tamlin.
If he didn't know then, he knew on his second visit. I can't even wrap my head around the kind of agony that must have felt like. You have a mate, but you can't pursue them because to keep your court safe, you have to remain where you are, the lackey of Amarantha. Then to find out your mate may break the curse, only by falling in love with another high lord. So on his second visit, he's cruel and threatening, saying everything he can to make Tamlin fear he'll tell Amarantha. So Tamlin will send Feyre away. His court remains safe, and she'd be safe too.
*gross sobbing*

actually this is a wrong link use the link under it okay enjoy.

USE THIS ONE

looooool, ah ok this is the first chapter from way back then xD

OK Thanks guys.

Your review is great Laura= ) It makes sense and I would love to read from Rhys's POV even a novella about the bonding. I also love the idea about our ship meeting for the first time in the forest. I need to reread ACOTAR soon before book 2 comes out so I can link the pieces. My TBR is overflowing though and and well aren't we all...

When you do finish reading it, tell us what the short story is about cuz I can't get one and all of us here who are getting the regular ones badly wants to know what it is about.

Since SJM said that her favourite character to write in ACOTAR was Rhysand and Miss Mass recently said that she's obsess with the short story she wrote, then I think the short story is gonna a story with Rhysand as the POV. I think it will be about his thoughts and we might get an sneaky pic on what he's thinking and what he's feeling. Maybe it'll be him and Feyre but instead he is the narrator rather than Feyre.
What do you guys think???

OH MY GOSH. That is just so heart breaking. Imagine how Rhys must have felt when Feyre and Tamlin were together. I feel to cry my eyes out for him. And he did everything to protect her but everyone was blindsided because he had to do these things in such a way that we took it for him using her. I really hope she spends most of the book in the Night Court. If something happens to Rhys at the end of book 2 and there is a cliff hanger then I do not know how I will make it to wait until book 3. This is one of my most passionate ships and I want them to be together and happy so so very much that it hurts. No offense but from what I have read in the spoilers Tamlin seems so uncaring and Rhys is so compassionate towards Feyre that you can literally feel the chemistry in the air and the moment they met I knew that I wanted them together so much.

No I'm just saying that this could be a feeling related to the mating bond. Since rhys and feyre are mated then rowan and aelin are mated too. Just a thought.
