Oh man, I'm going to have to be super careful over on the acomaf tags now if there are major spoilers going on... I usually spend a good amount of time on them since I write a bunch of meta and character analysis (I'm xnightwolfx over there) haha. Aqsa warned me about spoilers now, so I'm gonna have to keep my eyes half shut if I go through those tags lol

Yeah, I usually cave in depending on the book. For Frozen Tides--I caved in. I started rereading it after exams and I liked it a lot better. For AGOS--I waited and waited even after I didn't have to. So much better.

Here are some things you could do:

You should probably block tumblr out once the book is released. There are lots of apps that you can download or settings that you can change to do so. You could also block 'acomaf' and 'a court of mist and fury' in general. (or just Rhysand--it's a really strange name. I doubt it will come up in your history research.).

Also, making sure the book is really hard for you to access is a great idea. Ideally, give it to someone. You could also keep the book unopened, duct tape it shut, and throw it in a closet in a different part of the house. I'm sure kindles operate the same way. (The car of a friend/parent/sibling who travels all the time is great as well--though I would wrap it in gift wrapping paper to not seem to crazy. Sending your friends a package monster-wrapped in duct tape come off...a little sketchy. )

Also, try reading paranormals or urban fantasy. Those are addicting and can deter you from thinking about acomaf. I say urban fantasy because high fantasies and contemporaries are harder to get into. Though, I repeat that paranormals are super addicting. So, be careful.

Did you preorder your book on an iPhone? If you are one of those individuals who has an older version of the iPhone, you can go ahead and delete that app. Or you can just delete the book in general. If you bought it, it should be in your purchases when you return exam-free.

And last but not least, writing tips for other people about how to delay your book anxiety (while suffering yourself) may help.

I've noticed the talk about testing season and whatnot going on when ACOMAF comes out, and I have to say that I'm with you there people (clash with timing between ACOMAF and finals is ridiculously frustrating). Welp, as I try to distract myself from my impending doom tomorrow on a physics EM test, I was looking through some of the quotes Sarah released and trying to figure out who says what, and the one quoted above in particular right, I'm pretty sure Feyre is speaking about Rhys. Feyre states that she doesn't care about who/what she is, so we can conclude that this is after Rhys helps Feyre out with her psychological injuries, and this is probably well into the book (and we know Feysand is happening) so maybe...? Idk, I guess it could be Tamlin with the whole hot and heavy thing she has going on with him from the previews we've seen, and the "yielded" part at the end does give indication of that. Any thoughts?

I'm leaning towards Tamlin, just because yeah I agree she only "forgets herself" when she's doing it with Tamlin. This also ties in with my personal headcanon of Rhys and Feyre ending up together because they build each other up and not because they or Feyre wants to forget/lose themselves.

I am leaning toward the theory that Feyre will end up with Rhys, but i can't help feeling sorry for Tamlin and worrying about how this might cause a lot of discord, especially since that both the Night Court and the Spring Court are at the opposite ends of Prythian.

I really do think what Tamlin and Feyre have is only lust, definitely not love. Remember in ACOTAR during a party that Feyre was taken to by Rhys and Tamlin touched Feyre's hand and lead her into a room away from all the people which they both end up kissing? That's definitely lust. I mean come on, Feyre had just done a very hard challenge by Amarantha and she's staying on a cell, shouldn't Tamlin should have checked if she was alright first and how she was doing? and shouldn't Feyre should've done the same too? but no, once they went into that room, they just start sticking their tounge down each other's throats. I say that's lust.
Plus I've read the first four chapters in ACOMAF, and it seems to me Tamlin is getting to be a dickhead. Instead of calming her and talking to her about it, he just flat out ignoring her when she was having nightmares and vomiting up. Both of them just went through a very haunting experience, they should help each other out and talk to each other and opening up their true feelings, instead their just either ignoring each other or having sex all the time. Of course I've only read a little starter of the 2nd book so I don't know what might happen later on, they might start to open to each other but if they don't and this is going to continue on then I'm out of that ship. #TeamRhysand

True, and they might've loved each other then, but in my opinion, I think the love was a bit too fast and a bit forceful as well, and they also didn't have any spare time to really think what they actually felt then about that time. Feyre also hesitated to say 'I love you' to Tamlin when he said it to her, that's why she was sent home when she didn't said it and then everything happened. If she really did truly love him at that time, she would've said it. But she HESITATED. And now after everything they've been through and what happened, it seems like their relationship is going downhill, especially if they won't talk to each other about what they are really feeling. I don't think they really and truly love each other, I think they just want to force themselves to believe in an illusion of them living happily ever after rather than actually admitting the truth. Also, I don't think Feyre (now that she is a high fae) and Tamlin will not be the same person as they were in ACOTAR, because after having to experience that haunted experience, who wouldn't come back as a change person.

AND his jealousy in the reading lessons preview, when he is so visibly upset about literally everything. He is upset that she is dressed up as *his* prize, when she is Rhys's mate. (Though I think part of his upset also has to do with Rhys being very upset with how they are treating her in general). And he cares *so much* that Feyre doesn't see him as her enemy. (His face goes to stone and his eye go dark too, when they talk about it.) He is so afraid that she'll want nothing to do with him and aghhh my heart. And he wants her to feel comfortable around him too. He sounds almost hurt when he asks her, "Is it that hard for you to even try in front of me?" He just wants her to be okay with him and feel safe and comfortable. Ouch, my poor heart. Sarah, you are killing me.

Ok ok, and one more thing. In their note talks (SO ADORABLE AHH), Feyre asks Rhys why he has mountain and star tattoos on his knees. MY question: how did she know she had tattoos on his knees in the first place? What have you been up to that you got to see them, Feyre, hmmm? lol He couldd have just mentioned it, but the other possibility is more fun haha. I wonder if they go swimming or something at some point? I always thought it was interesting that the Spring Court had a pool of MOONLIGHT, which is such a Night Court thing. Maybe the Night Court has a lot of pools like that? Also, adding on to earlier thoughts. :) I was thinking, if Rhys knew that Feyre was his mate since Fire Night, we have some slightly new context to think about that scene in her cell when she hears the music and sees the Night Court. I know we've talked about the possibility that the bond channeled Rhys's dreams to her in some way, and I feel like that theory is strengthened if a mate bond is already in development at this point. (Can we take a moment to acknowledge how crazy strong the mate bond can be, though? Rhys says he could hear Feyre's pleas/begging for someone to save her from the marriage when he was ON THE OTHER SIDE OF PRYTHIAN. Feyre is even AWARE of the bond yet, and Rhys can already do that with her. Some of this may be part of his powers, but jeez. That bond could be a hugeee advantage once Feyre is more aware of it. If they get split up during the war, think of how useful it will be that they could communicate over such huge distances.) Anyway, so back to the music in the cell. I'm thinking that maybe Rhys WAS dreaming of the Night Court, but maybe it wasn't all based on memory? Like, obviously the music and the Night Court and its people are based on his memories, but what if that line--"the one I loved was there" ACTUALLY meant Feyre? If he already knew she was his mate, maybe this dream was his subconscious projecting a hope for the future when he can be home and with the one he loves. Where Feyre can forgive him for what he's done Under the Mountain and she can feel more than hatred for him. (Because he definitely worried about that.)

I guess what I'm saying is, maybe the previous idea that he was thinking of a past lover doesn't fit as much anymore? Maybe he was thinking of Feyre being with him at the Night Court in his dream, and maybe that awakened the bond while he was asleep and targeted the person he was thinking about: his mate. The big question now is: how long has he known?

Aqsa and I talked about if he's known since Fire Night, how the "there you are. I've been looking for you line" references that he felt the pull then. I'd say the bond was already forming because if you'll recall, there was a pull Feyre felt as well to go.

If he's known since then, can we just wrap our heads around this. He would have then known that the fate of the world rested on his MATE falling in love with Tamlin to break the curse. Like holy shit that's a high level of cruelty.

I wonder how he knew, but she didn't?

Now I'm starting to think he at least knew when he made that bargain, which is why he wanted her there every month.

We still don't know how much is the tattoo (whatever he did to her) and how much is a mate bond. Because I get the impression talking inside her head is something he can do anyway. With his powers being limited, maybe he couldn't do it as well and the tattoo (whatever it did) allowed him to. Because her tattooed arm did burn whenever Rhys was in her head. But in the preview, she doesn't mention her arm burning.

Amarantha also seemed to accept the tattoo as a means of bargaining. Tamlin also didn't act like that was a lie.

What's interesting is that if he figured it out on page (meaning sometime during the course of the story) he never gave it away. The only moment we considered he figured it out was the end, when he looked so shocked. But now we know he knew already. So I wonder what made him so shocked? Enough so that he vanished for 3 months with no intention of returning--until Feyre begged for an out of the wedding.

Anyway, so back to the music in the cell. I'm thinking that maybe Rhys WAS dreaming of the Night Court, but maybe it wasn't all based on memory?

I thought he was dreaming too, but based on those previews in how he wants Feyre to learn to guard her mind at night, I'm willing to bet he guards his at night.

The fact that the music was what pulled her there made me wonder if it was a night court ritual or ceremony happening. Maybe Rhys was even allowed to leave for that night--or left anyway.

It does somehow link to Rhysand obviously though--that was clearly his palace, and she even looks at the tattoo after.

Maybe that moment was the mating bond snapping into place for her? Or perhaps he just showed her that to pull her from her daze. Somehow though, she managed to know the one she loved was there.

Agreed. The characters sound off. This sounds very like her ToG books which, for me, isn't a good thing. Ok, just throwing this out there but to continue the talk as to when Rhys figured out about the mate bond, could it have been before he bet on her with the first trial? Why would he bet on her like that? He seemed to have actual confidence in her (on par with his cunning and skill?=he knows they're mates) He didn't seem to have the highest regard for humans last time he met with her, and when Amarantha gave Feyre the riddle, he did this half smile thing? Idk, but this seems to be kind of a pivotal change in his behavior around her...maybe something happened when he went to Feyre's village and brought Claire back for Amarantha...?

Why bother keeping her alive before she sets foot Under the Mountain?

Well, if he didn't know about the bond, I still think he'd take the wrong girl because Feyre was the only person who could break the curse. Rhys read her mind and concluded she was too stubborn and would have been the one for Tamlin. Which is interesting because...why would he say this? Why give Tamlin no hope? Did he think by doing so, it would make Tamlin send Feyre away? (Which he does end up doing, notice) If Rhys hadn't shown up, would Tamlin have sent Feyre away? I think he might have given her at least another day.

I think he was shocked to find out they were still mates and that their bond had overcome death.

That is an excellent theory, my friend. Because she died, he thought it was gone. Maybe that's why he came back--to see if it was still there. And he was shocked to find out it was. Maybe part of him hoped it wasn't there, because at that point, he just watched Feyre kill two people for Tamlin (and all of Prythian), watched Tamlin hold her while crying, etc. Wouldn't be easy for him, even if he didn't love her yet--she's still his mate, after all.

He only ever interrupted the wedding because he felt that Feyre didn't want it.

And this makes me soooo happy. To know he is essentially not using the mate bond as a means to stop the wedding from happening. Which, honestly, I wondered if he would.

Do you guys think he was going to collect on that bargain after he vanished? Like if he hadn't felt her despair?

I think everyone is drawn to it because of the powerful magic.

Feyre actually hears what she thinks is a voice, though, saying "come and see." Or something like that. It's more than just drums calling to her, if I remember right.

Some of those quotes from google are also missing parts, which I think makes a huge difference.

Rhys definitely didn't seem like he knew about the mate bond in Acotar

My theory here is that's the point, because he's such a good actor. He literally deceived the deceiver lol. Him having a mate is not something he'd want to get out, no matter when he realizes it. The only time he truly acted as if there was something strong there was in the end, when Amarantha struck Feyre/was killing her. Then Rhysand lost his facade completely, and maybe that's because he knew Amaranatha was going to kill her.

I feel like you could make a case for him knowing as early as Fire Night, as well as any time after. That's the beauty of the writing. Just enough mystery to keep us guessing, but not so much it doesn't make sense.

I think it more likely that Feyre isn't related to Jurian or his human lover - they hate Fae too much for that - rather Feyre is descended from the Fae that fought for humans.

I forgot about those! You are absolutely right. Maybe they now sound different because both of us expected things to go slower. I think perhaps it would be difficult to write Rhysand's character romantically. But I agree. It's not the characters so much as the plot. I thought only a part would be predictable but it's all a bit bland.

If Rhys knew since, say, Fire Night, that she was his mate (or had a really strong idea that she was and it was confirmed for him later, say before the bargain), then that means he has sacrificed his chance to be together with her multiple times.

Imagine how cruel fate must have felt once he realized that the woman who needed to fall in love with Tamlin to break the curse was his MATE. What a cruel sense of fate, especially since Rhys seems to have already lost so many loved ones [he insinuates that he lost his family already]. But he let her go then. Then UtM he would have had to pretend that she wasn't his mate; he did horrible things, partially so that NO ONE could possibly guess the truth about their bond. It must have killed him to put on that front, to know that everything he did could make her hate him forever, if they even survived. And then he lost her AGAIN, when Amarantha killed her. He was going to let her go with Tamlin forever when they had that last conversation in ACOTAR, because he must have thought that that was what she wanted. Tamlin was her beloved after all. He was going to sacrifice that sacred bond because he wanted her to be happy and not confused after all of that trauma she went through. And he would have let her do it, but then she mentioned the bargain. So he took the chance, because seeing her, getting to know her at least a little, would be worth it, even if she never knew. And finally, he was going to let her go marry Tamlin. Rather than interfere with her happiness, he was going to get probably veryyy drunk with Cassian to block it all out. Even though Tamlin tells Feyre that a marriage is nothing compared to a mate bond, Rhys was going to let her choose what she wanted. He was willing to deny that bond, even though it was probably tearing him apart to do so.

But then he feels Feyre's desperate pleas for someone to save her, and he realizes that perhaps that marriage isn't what she wants after all. So he goes running to save her, because that is what he's always done.

The amount of times Rhys sacrifices his bond with Feyre so he can give her what will make her happy is insane to me. It just shows how much he truly cares for her and loves her.

@Laura, THANK YOU. YOU PUT MY THOUGHTS INTO WORDS. And @WinterRose, I agree with everything you added on! I think that our earlier theory that they were both drawn to Fire Night because of the bond leading them there is very plausible now. Not just because of how Feyre feels drawn to Fire Night (but then walks AWAY from the area she should be drawn to, to go into the woods where Rhys seemed to be), but also because of what Rhys tells her in her cell. He says that he had his "reasons" to be at Fire Night, and he says this after looking her up and down. He pretty much insinuates that he came there looking for HER, for that other end of that bond.

Also @Laura, I think that your reasoning for shock would make a lot of sense. If the bond snapped into place again, wayy stronger now that she is High Fae, he must have been blown away. He thought he had lost his chance, but he was being blessed by the cauldron AGAIN.

Also, one more thing. Take a look at this Tumblr post and the replies about the scene when Rhys first presents Feyre to Amarantha in her heathen dress.

GUYSSSS, I said it before in my reply on that post, but he CROWNS her with Night Court symbols/regalia. No one would understand but him, but he just crowned his MATE. HE KNOWS HE JUST CROWNED HIS MATE. As an equal, as a survivor of trauma, and with a symbol that puts her on par as his ruling equal. (Just like how Persephone rules equally with Hades in the myth) He is claiming her in so many ways here and aghhh. Can you imagine everything he must be feeling in that scene? Especially if he knows at this point that they're mates? (Which I think is very likely, considering the bargain has been made already. If he knew, that bargain for 2 weeks now makes SO much more sense.)

Like, when I first read that snippet of Rhys crashing Feyre's wedding I thought that he had planned for that and that was the reason he waited three months. "Wow, that is something only a devious mind could conjure, but not unexpected of Rhys my precious son."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HE IS LITERALLY THE WORST SELF-SACRIFICING IDIOT. He knew all along. He knew since Fire Night that Feyre was his mate (or at least something special to him). How in the world did he get throught UtM????? After reading the latest spoiler I had to go back and read parts of it up, because he literally gave 0.0000001% indication of what he was really feeling. And all the subtle hints.....they were so little. But in retrospect it makes sense why he tried so hard to keep her alive and sane.

Are you referring to the leaks being possibly fake? I'm still trying to take everything with a grain of salt just in case but I will say that I know plenty of authors, including my favorites, use certain lines multiple times in different books. One saying that I'm particularly tired of, and that I've seen used by multiple authors, is "let out a they didn't know they were holding" or variations thereof. I roll my eyes a little now every time I see it written in a book.
