Now off to see where SE of Stockholm can take me given the books already lined up for me to read. I'm thinking a short hop likely.

I wondered if you would ever get to the East Coast.

I took a look at May and found so much happening! May Day, Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, Memorial Day!
Even May in history has much to offer: U2 shot down, Machiavelli's birthday, Columbus "discovered" Jamaica, Karl Marx's birthday and that is just up to May 5.
As far as Month's go it is AAPI Heritage, Jewish Heritage,Mental Health Awareness.
And Days- World Turtle Day, Geek Pride Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Parrot Day.
As you can see it is wide open, so I am leaving it wide open. From what you can find out about May choose one book by cover, title, tag or author which represents something in May, but just be sure that you let me know what it is.
Maybe we will all learn something about May.

What is more May than May?

I've only managed one mini read but that's fine as I really don't need to stock up on passes. In fact the one I just earned replaced the one I just used so I am still at 3. I am only managing an average of 2 reads for The Compass a month and that likely will slow.

I’ve been in the Pacific Northwest for three weeks now, so fingers crossed it won’t be north.

Since I am also doing crime fiction in this challenge, I've saved some research links to some websites with recommendations for some tricky locations. They start here in my personal tracking. Starts with Iceland latest was Falklands and Tierra del Fuego I think. I am currently in Sri Lanka.
Please feel free to check out the links since you have the same theme.

Plans to read In Good Company; Tales of Laughter and MAYhem. Carol Burnett, someone who I love and continue to re-watch every single night is a Strong Woman who made her way in Comedy before women comedians were really a thing. Madeline Kahn, Lucille Ball, Lily Tomlin, Nanette Fabray, she was in that class and they were all regulars on her show.
Play Harder needs a Prompt for May, as does the Compass May Challenge. I think this has got to be the one! She's up next.

Thanks Theresa. You're so thoughtful. I'll take a look and see what I can find.

I have just ordered a pineapple martini. I'm the girl with the glasses and Kindle....lol.

There are three French Holidays in May:
https://www.parisdiscoveryguide.com/p...
Also<" The French Queen in May refers to several instances. Marie Antoinette, as Queen consort of France, was officially crowned on May 10, 1774. Additionally, Mary Tudor, as Queen consort of France, was married to King Louis XII in May 1520
And
On 18 May, 1804, after much political horse trading, the French Senate proclaimed Bonaparte Emperor Napoleon I
And
Napoleon Bonaparte died on May 5, 1821, at Longwood, on the island of St. Helena. He was exiled there by the British after his defeat at Waterloo. The cause of his death was stomach cancer

Yes, I think there is enough there to earn you a free ticket.

Amy - I just used one of mine -- I was just too far south to find easily another crime fiction read, but I also immediately replaced it with my NE detour to Sweden, LOL.
On France, there are a wealth of books both F and NF covering what BnB provided relating to important dates and celebrations in May in France.
One of my favorite, discovered when I was a student in Paris, was May 1 - their Labor Day. It's a holiday, and everything back then was closed, except the boulangerie was open for a couple hours to sell baguettes to the locals. On every street corner, there were vendors with buckets of muguets - lilies of the valley - in little bouquets which you purchased in honor of the day.
Here's a link about those muguets and why they are still prevalent today on 1er Maie.

My favorite French singer, Charles Aznavour, has a song from the 1950's about all the ways a character is a terrible husband. He leaves cigarette ashes around, he doesn't call when he's coming home late, and on May 1st, he doesn't remember even a the smallest hint of muguet. (This being the '50's, he concludes that she is an angel and loves him enough to forgive everything.)
