R5: SS Four: A Divergent Team (4)

The bad news is that I see it's really not a stand alone after all
The good news is that I'm reading my REAL stand alone book now..
Before I Go by Colleen Oakley

I'm pretty sure she dies at the end so there won't be a sequel.

Series or Alternate: standalone

Book: The Dionne Years: A Thirties Melodrama
Series or Alternate: standalone
Date finished: 05/25/15
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I really enjoy Pierre Berton's writing. His little asides make me wish he wrote a book about every little extra bit of history. The Dionne quints are such a bizarre time in Canadian history - their story couldn't have happened at any other time or any other place. Great book, very much enjoyed it.

LOL! IKR?!!! That's what happened to me with my first book..

Before I Go by Colleen Oakley
Read: 05/23/15
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
Review: This isn't typically the type of book I read so I have no idea what prompted me to download it but I was definitely very pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the writing style and being able to be inside someone else's head for awhile. The main character (Daisy) is a 27 year old woman who is married and trying to accept and make plans around terminal breast cancer. Most pressing on her mind is how her husband will cope with her gone, not just because they are in love and married, but because she is the organized and responsible one of the pair. Although a very heavy theme - and tears were definitely involved - the story felt very real and not just all about the drama for the sake of the drama as there were some funny parts as well. Besides the main character, I also really enjoyed getting to know her bestie, her hubby and her mama.

I have to say I really didn't like this one and I wanted to. I started off enjoying it but then it started to read like the typical unpopular kids get revenge on the popular kids and it became too predictable.

This was a post-apocalyptic book with really no hope. He is the last "man" on Earth, trying to figure out how to survive.nothing goes his way, he even finally runs across a dog, and then the dog well I don't want to spoil it. Anyways if you're looking for a quick pick me up avoid this book.

I really had a hard time getting into the book. I just never felt it. Too many dates and characters to keep track of. It felt like reading a history book.

I'm planning to read one of these:

I'm reading The Picture of Dorian Gray from page 2 of the Four Star shelf.

Pretties by Scott Westerfeld
Read: 05/31/15
Rating: ☆☆.5
Review: I enjoyed Uglies much more than Pretties as far as this series goes. I'm not sure if it's because of the new concepts in the first book that made it seem more interesting, or if this second book was really just fairly whiny and slow but I was just really disappointed in this one and found it a chore to finish. There was a definite overuse of the term "bubbly". I didn't feel connected to any of the characters or really cared what happened to anyone. I really enjoyed the first book so I may do some research before deciding whether or not to pursue book 3. (Specials)

I definitely love when the second book in the series is better than the first. Scarlet and Wolf were absolutely adorable together. Cinder definitely has a fun personality, I also absolutely adored thorn he made me laugh out loud. And how can you not love a book where the spaceship has the best personality of all! Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I loved this one and it was a perfect end to a great series. I can't believe how drawn to this one I was and I almost didn't want it to end. I am excited to know that there will be another one in the series.

Review: Great story. Read it in school but definitely enjoyed it more this time around. Madness is so interesting to read about. ;)

I don't think I have a #6 or #9 in my go-to series so will likely go with 'mountain' but need to do my homework to find out which book that will be...

I saw Lucky Team 13 was the **winning team** on the threads that came through on my notifications. I think it's your choice in weather you want to finish out the roll or not. ;)
