Berit :-) I am struggling through my current book, I need to finish by tomorrow, for my in person book club. I'm guessing we are going with Fab Four, yes? I can report that in the morning, if no one has any objections. Thanks Shy, for stepping up and being captain:-)

message 52: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments I think that's 2 votes for Four: A Divergent Team and at least 1 vote for FabFour so far. I wasn't sure where to throw your talley Berit.

message 53: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 502 comments Evening team. I have somehow agreed to bake 3 cakes and four pies tonight and it is almost 8 p.m. already. I have to get up early tomorrow and drive my brother to town before work also, so I'd better get my ass in gear. I promise once this challenge actually starts I'll be around more.

message 54: by Berit (new)

Berit If I had to choose I would choose, Four A Divergent Team, , So is that going to be it? BTW good luck with your baking!

message 55: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments I need to post a picture of Four when I get to a computer. Hubba-Hubba!

Then we need pictures of these fabulous pies and cakes, Allison Ann. My sweet tooth is calling to me...

Berit - thanks for posting!

message 56: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Berit - What's your book?

message 57: by Berit (new)

Berit Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, I am almost done, thankfully! This just hasn't held my interest, at all! It is about soldier a

message 58: by Berit (new)

Berit Sorry, I got cut off. It is about American soldiers coming back from Iraq, and being honored at a football game. There are some interesting parts, but this is not my normal type of book, for sure!

message 59: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Ya, I think I would be struggling right there with you.

message 60: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Berit - I fumbled upon the thread to give our name and fearless leader so went ahead put it out there.

message 61: by Berit (new)

Berit Thanks! Almost done with my book :-)

message 62: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Awesome! You go girl!

message 63: by Berit (new)

Berit DONE!!! This book was very political, so my book group discussion will be interesting tomorrow. I'm glad I read it, but I'm more glad it is done :-) what are you girls reading? I'm currently doing a challenge in a YA group, We get extra points for buddy reads, so my next book is A Little Something Different

A truly awesome name.
I love Tobias

message 65: by Denise (new)

Denise Lauron (dlauron) | 504 comments Ok. I'm GR challenged. How in the world do I bookmark this thread? I seem to only be able to do the whole group, and my email blows up when I do that.

message 66: by Berit (new)

Berit Join the club! I only use the app, and I do know how to get notifications or individual topics on that. I'm starting to go on the website, but it gives me a headache and I get really frustrated.

message 67: by Denise (new)

Denise Lauron (dlauron) | 504 comments The app drove me insane because I could never find what I wanted. I gave up and use the website now.

message 68: by Berit (new)

Berit I think it is whatever you get used to, or whatever works for you. I think I am in the minority though. So, we roll the dice tonight?

message 69: by K~Terror (last edited Mar 19, 2015 03:32PM) (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Well, when I was talking about marking this thread before, I just mark it on a personal thread where I keep track of all my challenges.

Ex: <*a href="copy link here"> name it whatever <*/a>
note: remove the *

On my phone app and on the website, I get all the same zillions of notifications. But for emails, I only get updates on the ones that I've commented on before ~ and I think you can manage that in the 'settings' area.

OH EZI - ME TOO!!!!! Drool-worthy for sure!

A Little Something Different looks cute!

I'm currently listening to Fever as a buddy read too. We read the first book last month.. Like it but don't LOVE it..

I'm also listening to Bloodlines to help pace myself.

I don't get much time to sit down and read, but when I do, I'm reading Unclaimed Regrets which was written by a friend of mine from college and I'm really loving it!

Everyone ready for our first roll????

I was planning to roll when I first get up tomorrow morning - which should be around 6AM. Hope that works OK! I'll post our roll and what books we'll be able to choose from on this thread shortly there after. :)

message 71: by Berit (new)

Berit It is very cute! I love listening to audiobooks as well, you can get a lot of housework done, that way! That is fine with me that is 4 o'clock in the morning for me so I probably wouldn't be doing much reading earlier than that.

message 72: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Very true!!!

Yes, thanks to audio books, our house is usually cleaner and I'm usually complaining less about having to do it! Ha!

message 73: by Berit (new)

Berit My Bluetooth headphones, are one of the best purchases I've ever made :-)

message 74: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 502 comments I've been trying to remember exactly who Four is and I can't. :D But I'm pretty sure he was one of the group that jumps off trains, so I'm considering us an adventurous (and winning) team. So go us.

6 a.m. is fine for me for our first roll, I desperately hope to be sleeping until 7.

message 75: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Yes, he was a train jumper! Did u see his picture on the thread? Divergent people had to hide bc they had tendencies of more than one faction. So they could be fearless AND selfless AND smart, etc. Didn't really fit the norm..

message 76: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Berit - I've never had blue tooth ear buds. Any recommendation?

message 77: by Berit (new)

Berit I got an off brand, from Amazon, and they work great. When I get a chance I'll check the brand, but they were around $45. Can't wait for our first role, you all me need to talk me through this, what books are eligible and such.:-) Did anyone see the Divergent movie? I read all the books, absolutely love them. I just don't see how they could do the book justice and a movie, so I never saw it.

message 78: by K~Terror (last edited Mar 20, 2015 03:16AM) (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments WEEK 1 ROLL: (5+6) = 11

For Spot 11, you can choose from:

- First Book in Series
- Standalone Book
- Book published in 2001

Once you know what you're going to read, post it on the team thread. All books need to be read and have your reviews posted by Thursday so we can roll again next Friday!

message 79: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments For Week 1, I'm going to go with a standalone and read
Ugly Girls by Lindsay Hunter

message 80: by Berit (new)

Berit Great roll! That one is pretty easy!

message 81: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 502 comments I need an E book for something else, so I'm going to pick a standalone also Envy by Sandra Brown . Should be back tonight with my review. Have a great day everyone. Hope you survived your field trip Shy. :)

message 82: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments @Berit - I was happy too - usually my rolls are crappy.

@Allison Ann - It's nice when you can use one book for multiple purposes! The book I picked is also a buddy read book that was starting today. Although I won't be able to finish it and write my review until the 22nd because I'm also planning to use it for Wheelathon...

How did bake night go? Hopefully you got some sleep!

message 83: by Berit (new)

Berit I will be using whatever book I decide, for multiple challenges as well. I started reading The Martian, a little last night. So, the book I read for this I probably won't post a review for until Sunday,, But I have a lot of choices.

message 84: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Don't let the beginning of The Martian scare you... I remember thinking it was very dry and way too detailed for my taste in the first few chapters... (dirt & potatoes..)

It seems it "started" to pick up at about Chapter 5 and then it's like a crazy slow burn.. just keeps getting better and better with each page turn... all the way to the end where I was up until 4AM because I absolutely could not put it down..

message 85: by Berit (new)

Berit Thanks for the heads up! I didn't get too far in, so I wasn't scared off yet :-)

message 86: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments LOL! That's good!

message 87: by Denise (new)

Denise Lauron (dlauron) | 504 comments ok, I'm going for a stand alone, and will also fit in my yearly book challenge for my book I was supposed to read in school but didn't. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

message 88: by Berit (new)

Berit Hey guys! Can you do me a favor, I know it is easy to post the covers, but if I'm on my phone I can't see them, I'm old :-) and I'm curious, like to know what you are reading :-) I think I will end up reading The Ocean at the And of the Lane . I was playing around on the website earlier, I am just so technically challenged ;-) and the app is so much easier, for me anyways.

My 18-year-old is taking his drivers license test today, it is kind of funny because his younger sister has had her license for a year now :-)I don't know whether not to be happy, now I'm going to have to pay for another car on our auto insurance :-(

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Sure Berit - Here's the Week #1 Book re-cap so far:

Denise will be reading To Kill a Mockingbird
Allison Ann is planning to read Envy
I'm planning to read Ugly Girls
Shy is planning to read Cold Burn of Magic

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Envy by Sandra Brown Ugly Girls by Lindsay Hunter Cold Burn of Magic (Black Blade #1) by Jennifer Estep

message 90: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Let me know if that shows up better for you? Good luck to your son!

message 91: by Berit (new)

Berit Perfect! I appreciate it! I am loving The Martian, so far. It is so funny, I didn't expect that from a science fiction book.

message 92: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments I know, he's awesome! If heard he had a pretty sarcastic sense of humor so I thought I would enjoy ~ and did. Loved him!

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments Thanks gor rolling Kristin. I plan to read Cold Burn of Magic (Black Blade #1) by Jennifer Estep

I love her Elemental Assassins series so had to look at your book. It doesn't come out until end of next month for me... but I'm definitely adding to TBR

message 95: by Berit (new)

Berit We are off to a great start!

message 96: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 502 comments Work was actually fairly busy today, so I didn't quite finish my book. I'll probably read the last 100 pages when I go to bed and post my review tomorrow.

I always pick my books fairly randomly at the library - grab a few of the series I am reading, a few standalone authors I am working my way through, a few titles based on their letters alone for spelling challenges, a few because the cover catches my eye, a few that sound familiar, etc, etc. Somehow with that amount of randomness I still end up with tons of books with similarities. Right now I have four books that take place in Key West, three books about IVF and two that are very oddly written as books within books. So weird. Once I read four books in a row where the protagonist was named Harry. :D

message 97: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments I get confused when I'm reading two books with characters by the same name - I can't imagine! You sound like quite the reading machine there Miss Allison Ann!

I'm only about half way through mine and leaving tomorrow for a lacrosse weekend out of town so not sure how much reading will get done before Sunday night.

message 98: by Berit (new)

Berit I never read more than one book at a time, because I get confused also I am inpatient and I want to know how the book ends :-) I am almost done with The Martian, And I absolutely love it! I am not a science fiction girl at all, but this is a really good book :-)

I forgot about Wheelathon and the characters in my SS book will work for that so I am actually going to put off finishing it until tomorrow night. I really hate how we can save up books and just read the last page after the challenge starts, feels like cheating although it isn't, but since everyone does it I want to pull my weight for my team.

My baking went well, thanks for asking. I specialize in cakes that "taste fantastic but look like they were decorated by a 12 year old girl". My pies are stunning, my cookies could be in a magazine but I can't decorate a cake to save my life and honestly I don't care to learn. I often write "HAPPY BITHDAY", sometimes the letters go off and down the side, I hate fondant with a fiery passion and I think that sprinkles are a completely valid choice of ingredient. But they will taste a hell of a lot better than that supermarket cake with proper spacing. :D
