May Subdue the Shelf Roll Requests
Reminder of Rule for Porter Board and aboveIt has come to my attention that there are sometimes roll requests being made before the book review for the immediate preceding roll has been posted.
You must post your review BEFORE requesting the next roll.
Maybe I didn’t state that clearly enough so just reiterating it. Let me know if you have questions!!!
We are spot checking this and may start penalizing players if it’s an ongoing issue. I really don’t want to be the “mean mom” lol so this is the warning.

Actually, I thank you for this. I will be finishing my first Porter book and this saves me rereading the rules.
Sorry, that was probably me today. My wifi kept going out this morning and I didn’t realize that both posts didn’t take. Thanks Theresa for keeping us “ on track”

I know! I expected to be on the Porter level for the rest of the year, but from the looks of it, I'll be moving to the next level soon.
This is a book, I've had for over 10 years. I expect I bought it at a Friends of the Library sale. It reminded me of another book, I had read about life in the Maine woods years ago.
@Nancy - As I read my first Porter book, I keep reminding myself that there are different rules and I need to reread them. I was just about to be lazy and post a question here rather than reread. When I log on, I find Anita's saved me from having to ask or reread! Love coincidences like that. Especially right now when consumed with a lot of heavy on the detail work.

You will be reading it in the Royal Coach - Train Management has arranged for plenty of fresh Maine blueberries and lobster to be ready to serve you. The chef is creating both clsssic and modern preparations for your enjoyment.

Sounds perfect! Lobster and blueberry pie for a Maine read. I did a search and found that the book I read years ago was We Took to the Woods and so added it to my read books. I probably have dozens of others that I have forgotten, but this is one of those books I remembered long after I read it and the reason I bought the book, I am just beginning to read. Such a nice nostalgic feeling.
And another rabbit hole the man who wrote this book is a zoologist like the author of my book about giraffes.
Thanks for the bump Hannah! Excited to read Girls Burn Brighter and will let you know how I like it! :)
Porter Envy is almost over!!!! Have finished the Clerk Level entirely. I am at 99 so two dice automatically rolls me off the board. I am just in the last pages of my Wicked 11 extra book, Atomic Anna, which is the 18th book I have read for this challenge. Tomorrow I will post a review, post my Porter Board, review the new rolling system, and ask for my first Porter Roll! Ready to go, armed with Goodies! However in real life, my husband and I are driving down to Hofstra to help our oldest son move out of the dorm. Friday night traffic home will be a nightmare, but I have a new audio to start. My husband and I will be driving down together so I can finish one book and start another. But I will be driving myself home. My husband will take Jaden’s car back after he drops him off on NYC.

Hi, everyone! I remembered to pop in on my lunch break, so I'm here now. Just let me get organized to see who needs a roll...
Pam (1)Robin P (1)
KateNZ (1)
JoyD (1)
NancyJ (1 - you didn't say how many, so it looks like 1 die when I back up and look at what was rolled for you previously; I hope that's correct!)
Hannah (1)
And this is what we get: You rolled 6 dice:
5 4 1 1 2 6

Cindy - Are you going to do my randomizer roll today? It's a number between 16 and 100 I think.

My last 2 rolls have been 5, 6, so I'm going to read A Spy Among Friends: Kim Philby and the Great Betrayal as my extra book. It is #24 on Joy's Porter board.
I have a question about the special rolls. I had 6, then 4, which gave me the special advantage of moving to the space of the next person. I did that and read the book there. Now I got 4. Do I put the 4 with the last roll of 4? That seems like "double dipping"? 4-4 doesn't change my place on the board, it just gives extra points for my next review. But it seems wrong to use roll of x+y for an advantage and then y+z for another one. Can you clarify?
My last two rolls have been 2 and 1, so I’m going to cash in one participation point to move another space ahead. That places me on #7. (Will note properly on tracking thread when I can get onto my desktop computer, but mentioning here to help avoid confusion).

Anita has stated that the 6-4 special advantages can be used at any time. In many cases, we didn't even realize we had a 6-4 combo until afterwards. So (unless she stated it differently), you could have moved the 4 spaces when you rolled the (first) 4, and used the advantage immediately afterwards or at a later time. So using that 4 wouldn't have been double dipping. (Though, if the person ahead of you was more than 4 spaces ahead, you would end up in the same place that you would have if you used the 4 first, and then advantage.) Note - I'm not positive that I interpreted your question correctly. I'm not sure what you meant when you said 4+4 wouldn't change your position.
I'm doing it! Drove 9 hours today and cleaned OCD like and bought furniture. Now I am home and am writing the review for Atomic Anna!!!!! Here We Go!! This train is bound for Glory! Children get on Board!

Unfortunately, I don't know how that works or anything about it or what it's about. Does Joanne know anything about it? Can you explain?

Don't worry about it Cindy. I can use a break to catch up on other challenges so I can wait for Anita's return. Enjoy your weekend.

I'm so sorry it stalls you. :-( If someone can easily explain I can see that I can do.
ETA: Do I simply use the randomizer to pick a number between 16 and 100?
I have posted my review of Atomic Anna. Book 18 and the "Extra" for me. Theresa better have had my new outfit pressed and be planning another dance evening or something of the like. I am heading off to review the special rolls and post my new porter board.Cindy, you may roll the die for me tomorrow!
Hi Cindy,If you land on #15 on your board you are allowed to Ride the Shinkansen in honor of PBT's 15th birthday. The moderator rolls the dice between 16 and 100 and I move to whatever that number is. If you feel more comfortable waiting for Anita to do it, I'm okay with that. If you want to give it a try, I'm okay too. No worries.

What I meant was that 4+4 roll lets me earn 4 points next time I review a book, but it doesn't tell me to move back or ahead, so it doesn't impact which book I am on.
Robin P wrote: "NancyJ wrote: "Robin P wrote: "I have a question about the special rolls. I had 6, then 4, which gave me the special advantage of moving to the space of the next person. You were correct that it would be double dipping to use a die in two different special rolls. A sequence of 4, 6, 4 = (4,6) , 4. The (4,6) is used up, so your next 4 is a regular roll.
*sorry I can’t find the thread

The rule is below-It is not dice, just numbers 15-100 I will do it for you ,OM
) In honor of PBT's 15th birthday, if you land on the 15th spot on your board, whether you move forward to that spot or backward to that spot, the randomizer will pick a number between 15 and 100, and you will transport to that spot on your board.
Joy D wrote: "I am ready for another roll please! (1)Congrats on the big move, OM!"
Thanks Joy. You had a big one too. I'm always expecting to get a 16-20. But I guess anything over six moves is a good result!

Oh! Thank you. That's easy enough - I can do that! I'm so sorry for the extra day delay!
