May Subdue the Shelf Roll Requests
OK, it looks like these are who needs a roll today: Amy (1)
Joy D (1)
Hannah (2)
Nancy J (1)
(Back in a minute - need to get cookies out of the oven!)
Sorry Cindy, it looked like you were not sure what to do about it, so I just went ahead and did it-And Shinkansen is the Japanese Bullet Train!
I won't be updating the the master board until tomorrow, heading out the door for the evening (not sure Anita is posting it, but just in case thought I would give you all a heads up)
Joanne wrote: "Sorry Cindy, it looked like you were not sure what to do about it, so I just went ahead and did it-!"No worries! Thank you - you got to it sooner for OM, anyway (and it was a better number!)
Rolls for 5/20:You rolled 5 dice:
3 6 4 6 2
Timestamp: 2023-05-20 19:43:01 UTC
Amy (1) - 3
Joy D (1) - 6
Hannah (2) - 4-6
Nancy J (1) - 2
Hannah, I see this is a special roll, but I'll have to leave it to Anita to let you know your surprise advantage! Please make sure she notices it when she's back. "6-4 Earn a surprise advantage to use anytime during the game"

Thank you! I’m also swapping out my book as I really don’t want to read a classic right now, so I’m going to read Love All at 454 pages instead.
LibraryCin wrote: "Ok, so I'm a little later today than I'd intended, but I'm here now. Let me get organized to do the rolls, including OM's Shinkansen roll!"Cindy< I think that Joanne already did it in message 389 - she moved her to 73,
I got a quickie non-fiction. Will be done as soon as it arrives from the library. I had no pressure to move fast on the New Porter Board, but you know what? Its a great start.
Amy wrote: "I got a quickie non-fiction. Will be done as soon as it arrives from the library. I had no pressure to move fast on the New Porter Board, but you know what? Its a great start."You want to have time to party in the Caboose. Some surprises coming and we all are enjoying the treats you brought.
We fell in love with Locomotive 102 on the first morning, when she gave two long and two short blasts on her steam whistle to callus to work from breakfast in the lunchroom. Indulgent, she let us ride all over the train--astride the cow catcher, in the engine cab, atop boxcars, inside gondolas [open topped cars], and on flat cars. I chose to ride in the caboose, with its cozy bunks and fat little black stove, which glowed red in the cold mountain nights. From my 1st Porter Subdue book Lulu in Hollywood by Louise Brooks, specifically her essay 'On Location with Billy Wellman' about filming the 1925 Beggars for Life silent film. Silent film star Louise Brooks was also an avid reader, making her affinity for the caboose quite understandable!
Fantasy Tom is sourcing a print of Beggars for Life to screen in the Caboose. I told him to bring a movie popcorn machine - the real thing - too or don't bother coming back.
I just love it! Finished my last Clerk book last night, as soon as the review is up I will helping Tom with the machine and popping!!
I'd like to request my next roll (2). All the Light We Cannot See was 531 pages, so I guess I can roll 2 dice now. Here's the link to Amazon hardcover: https://www.amazon.com/All-Light-We-C...
I'm ready for another 🎲 dice roll (2) Thanks. My last book was 576 pages
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/034...
I am ready for my next roll please! (1)Note: I used a swap for my last book and noted it on my board.
Not a new roll, but per message #229:anarresa, you have a special advantage roll. Add all the digits in your birthdate to calculate a move that you may take at any time
I'm going to take my 30 to roll off the Clerk board, but because I like games to require something to finish I am going to read the book that lands me on.
I'm pulling out of future rounds of the board. This is a list clean up for me. Randomness chose the books and now I'll leave them behind (or the few I just can't leave I know I have to read immediately.)
Thanks so much!!
KateNZ wrote: "Can I have my next roll please?"I'll do this in about an hour or so, but how many dice do you get, please? Thank you!
ETA: I checked back - looks like you get 1 die.

Congrats and glad you enjoyed the game to help get a few off the tbr! (And to clean up the rest.)
This is who I have so far. When I'm back, I will readjust if there are more to add. KateNZ (1)
Joanne (1)
Diana H (2)
Olivermagnus (2)
Joy D (1)
Hannah (1)
Pam (1)
So for 5/21, we get: You rolled 9 dice:
5 5 1 1 6 2 2 5 4
Timestamp: 2023-05-21 18:15:26 UTC
KateNZ (1) - 5
Joanne (1) - 5
Diana H (2) - 1-1
Olivermagnus (2) - 6-2
Joy D (1) - 2
Hannah (1) - 5
Pam (1) - 4
Diana, you got a 1-1. I see this means this:
"1-1: The current leader must move back 3 spaces on their game board and read the book where they have landed next."
I'm going to let Anita and/or Joanne sort that one out!
LibraryCin wrote: "Diana, you got a 1-1. I see this means this:

That would be me. Just FYI, Cindy, I've done this before, so I know what to do. (Just to spell it out - I read the book I land on, then move back 3 and read that one, moving from the 3-back space at the time of the next roll).

And this roll takes me off my board. I’ll post my new board in a day or two, and request my next roll then.
I'm ready for my next roll - 1 die! Just posted my first Porter review! So exciting and it was a 5 star read.

Congratulations, Anarresa! You SHOULD feel great to have accomplished your goal!
Congratulations Hannah for ripping through another board! Looking forward to seeing what's on the new.
Thanks to JoAnne's https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pUpAcPA...
@ Amy - put on your dancing shoes!
@ Anarresa - stop into the Caboose while reading your final roll off the board book for a proper farewell send off as only the Subdue Caboose can provide.
@ Hannah - don't dally too long posting your new board - you don't want to miss the Flapper's Charleston Party!
ATTENTION PLEASEJust did a total recheck of personal boards and The Master Board. Please check the master against your private board and let me know if I do not have you on the correct book#. Thank you very much!
ETA Anita has not updated the Consolidated Board since 5/17. So, please wait until she updates it on Monday (I believe) before checking your position.
Once you have all followed Train Management Assistant JoAnne's tracking updating instructions, and she has stamped your hand showing completion, stop by the Caboose's latest edition (temporarily on the station platform) for a sample bag. CGI Tom did well ... and he will take it on rounds through all the cars once in a while though its home is the Caboose.

Nancy, Anita has not updated the board since 5/17, so we all need to wait until she returns to check position. I edited my original post to alert people of this. And yes, the consolidated board is what I call the master board.
Joanne wrote.. Thanks Joanne, that’s what I thought. Thanks for the added note. I’ll delete the question so as not to confuse anyone else.
Hello everyone!I am back and the Consolidated Boards are updated. Please let me know if there are any special rolls that require my help at this point. I see some folks figured things out on their own already!
Cindy, THANK YOU and of course also Joanne, for holding down the fort.
Pam, did you need my help with checking on/reconstructing your board? Let's take that to PM. Just let me know the last date you feel confident, and we can go through rolls.
I am ready for another roll please! (1)Anita, Per my messaged 376 above, I rolled a 3,1 while you were gone.

Anita, you confused me and BC on the Porter level. I should be on 96.

I think Joanne was planning to rectify it. I'll circle around with her . . .
Joy D wrote: "I am ready for another roll please! (1)Anita, Per my messaged 376 above, I rolled a 3,1 while you were gone."
Thanks, Joy! You will be moving Joanne!
