What's going on in the Caboose these days? Are we having a big picnic for Memorial Day?

The Caboose has been Party Central for weeks and filled to the rafters with Subdue Riders at beginning of boards. I believe JoAnne's birthday blowout is winding down but that there are still pierogies to be had. Cabanna Boys have clean-up tomorrow plus set-up under CGI Tom's supervision for the Memotial Day Picnic on the Platform, open to all. There are a couple of huge Weber Grills on way - men and their grills 🙄

Burgers and dogs and all the fixin's and including non-meat alternatives, potato, three-bean, and macaroni salads, chips and dips, classic american fare, and plenty of it. Dessert will be a Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundae Bar!

I completed the special task for the 1:3 roll.

Is the 3 considered "used"? Or do I combine it with the 2 to get that special roll also?

Yes, the 3 is used up. The 2 stands alone for now, unless it forms a special roll with your next roll.

Sue, I believe these are both special rolls. Anita clarified this for when a while ago when I was confused. Please see the following thread for examples:

Thank you for the link back to the prior discussion. Cora posed my exact same question and Anita answered very directly that both rolls would be considered special. The prior number wouldn't be "used up".

During the summer, I may be using the APP more often when I am doling out rolls. I'm a bit more on the go/outside, and not always near my laptop.

Unfortunately HTML doesn't always appear on the app, so please make sure that when you are requesting a roll, it's a simple request, and there's no need for me to see HTML to interpret it. I'm not going to lie, sometimes even words/letters seem to be missing . . .but I think for the most part, I'll figure it out.

I somehow knew that was going to happen - had premonitions last night!

That moves me back to #3 which was my first Porter read, so I will read the one at #2 while staying and ultimately moving forward from #3 again.

Assuming I am correct, will reflect in tracking.

Rules Adjustment as of June 1

We are at the halfway mark in the game, and we need to make a slight adjustment to the rules. No one has done anything improperly, but Joanne and I conferred behind the scenes, and I think I left open an unintentional loophole that is going to be unmanageable.

In rule 7b under What's Next (Porter board and above), I stated:

b) If you land on a book that has the same tag as the monthly tag, you will get an extra move to use when you wish

Unfortunately "use when you wish" is just too ambiguous and confusing for tracking purposes. Going forward, if everyone who has these moves retained could use them IN CONJUNCTION WITH A ROLL, that would be helpful. I will modify the rule itself, but if you have done anything differently up to now; it's not a problem and you've done nothing improper.

I just didn't do a very good job of writing what I was thinking. I try to interpret the rules very literally, and normally that works, but here I did a poor job of conveying what I actually meant.

I need to check the collective Gameboards the next time they are updated as there is some movement to new cars. Staff in each might need some kicks in the keesters to be properly attentive.

And the packed Caboose a/k/a Party Central has some departures into Baggage Car. Gnarly and the Magical Games and Puzzle Trunk are present and accounted for but somehow those snack vending machines are empty and the cases of wine gone and not restocked. Train Management is investigating and remedying the situation.

Gnarly wants to know when Amy is returning. He's pining.

Does this mean announcing you are going to use one of the moves when you ask for the roll (ie, before knowing what it is) or can you still choose to use it after you see the roll by announcing it on the thread?

Does this mean we must use the extra tag rolls the next time we request a roll after landing on them and completing the book?

I have very similar concerns/questions. I interpreted the awards as a way to make the game more fun and flexible, not just as a way to get a few moves ahead. It's summer, and I think we could all use a little more flexibility. I used a tiny reward when I really needed it. It enabled me to keep playing, not to get ahead. Anita, I'll send a DM later.

Joy, From my understanding of the conversation Anita and I had-none of that changes, You can roll and then decide to use the extra moves, you just have to use the extra movement with a roll. This was the original concept of the rule. You may still use the extras anytime you wish, as long as they are with a roll
