message 101: by Liane (new)

Liane | 137 comments I am happy with either option. I have one unread in each month: Darker Shade, Gods of Jade, Six of Crows.

Hoping to adjust my reading approach - I need to start books on first day rather than finishing by end of month. Hmm, perhaps this explains my historic work deadline approach. Procrastinator vs…

Yeah.. I feel that in my bones. I've been writing down my TBR and scheduling the book club books at the beginning if possible so I actually get them done and can respond to the threads when the discussions are taking place.

message 103: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments I swear I just posted in this thread, but it's not here? I haven't finished my first coffee of the day, so maybe it was a dream. Very modlike to dream about posting mod updates.

I'll post the schedule tomorrow, so you have the rest of today to comment. Right now it's looking like option B is it.

How do I join the May group read of The Raven Tower? Will there be a suggested reading schedule?

Bonnie | 1279 comments Pamela wrote: "How do I join the May group read of The Raven Tower? Will there be a suggested reading schedule?"

Hello Pamela,
The suggested reading schedule is, the month of May!

Some people have read the book/s already and post immediately;
some people start reading the book/s on the first and post days or weeks later,
some people start later in the month,
some people post months or years later.

I tend to read the "First Impressions/no spoilers" thread right before starting the book, and set it for notifications; and save the "Final Impressions/spoilers OK" thread for once I'm done... unless I have a question or don't like the book then I might sneak in there earlier.

The activity and number of posts definitely varies from month to month. All you need to do to join though, is read the book and follow along. And hopefully post your thoughts!

message 119: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments The Raven Tower isn’t technically a reread though, which is why there won’t be a thread for it yet.

The The Crown Conspiracy should get bumped up ... just so more people can fall in love with the series/author.

I can remove a vote from something in the 8/9s.
Okay.

I am going to read both of these yet this month; off to a late start because I want to finish Seveneves first, and it's long. See you in the threads.

Here is the proposed schedule for our July-September rereads. We have a few days to make changes if needed.

Option 1

July 15th:
The Crown Conspiracy (296 pgs)
Wild Seed (320 pgs)

August 15th:
The Ten Thousand Doors of January (374 pgs)
Redshirts (320 pgs)

September 15th:
Elantris (638 pgs)
Foundation (256 pgs)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments (I'll be sleeping for the next million or so hours, but I'll update any possible rescheduling requests when I'm awake and functional again!)

message 132: by Meredith (new)

Meredith | 1777 comments Wow, how did Foundation sneak in there? That's the only one I voted for (and I was really not thinking any I voted for would make the top 6). It's short so I can read it any time.

Ryan | 1746 comments Mod
Pretty sure I read Elantris back in 2020 because of this bookshelf reread vote. You Fanderson's are certainly loyal.

I'm fine with that proposal. I haven't read Redshirts or The Crown Conspiracy yet so keeping them separate will encourage me to participate in at least two of the months.

Melanie | 1603 comments Mod
I like this mix a lot.

PS: I nominated Elantris back in the day. It's my only nomination to ever will a poll.

message 135: by Chris (new)

Chris | 1130 comments I like the schedule. I plan to read The Crown Conspiracy and Elantris, so keeping those separate would be good for me.

Tina Reads | 144 comments This sounds good to me. I'll be joining in with the ten thousand doors of January this time around. If I can squeeze one of the books in, I might join in July.

Michelle (michellehartline) | 3169 comments I'll re-read The Crown Conspiracy at that time.

I want to read Redshirts, and August is perfect for me. September would be, as well.

Does this have a different name now, changed since the group read it (in 2009)?

Theft of Swords
?

message 141: by Anna (last edited May 26, 2022 06:30AM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Yep, the original isn't available anymore afaik, but we can't exactly change the book on the shelf.

edit: Meaning the series is now available in two book omnibus volumes, you could read the first part of Theft and mark Conspiracy read :)

edit2: Actually, The individual books are available on Graphic Audio, and Storytel has them, so a 9-hour audio adaptation might be the perfect way for me to finally cross thing thing off. The Theft of Swords (traditional) audiobook is over 22 hours, which makes me groan, but 9 hours of GA is totally doable!

edit3: lol, I keep editing, Anyway, it's actually just over 8 hours, so even better! :D

Since everyone seems to like option 1, it's settled! Schedule (start of reread thread, buddy read thread and Current Events) has been updated!

Michelle (michellehartline) | 3169 comments That was fairly easy!

message 144: by DivaDiane (new)

This was useful info! I might join the re-read since my library has the ebook of Theft of Swords but only the audio for the dramatic adaptation of Crown Conspiracy. Not opposed to a dramatic adaptation, it's just not easy for me to incorporate e-audio into my reading schedule (I much prefer audio CDs because I listen to them in my car).

message 148: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments Scribd has the dramatized Crown Conspiracy as well as the audio of Theft of Swords, if anyone is interested.
