DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'm about done with Story of Seasons (for now at least). The trophies are looking like a massive grind, so I'm just going to finish the year and give up before it becomes too much of a pain in the asparagus

message 2202: by [deleted user] (new)

I wasn't in the mood for gaming last night so thought I'd try and autopop the trophies on the PS5 version of Jedi Fallen Order with it being a PS+ game.

Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work as it would just kick me back to the PS dashboard with an error message. I then read of folk autopopping all but one or two trophies which sounds awful so cut my losses and gave up. I may play it again properly one day but some of the more annoying aspects of the game are too fresh in my memory to do it now.

I've got a few shorter games lined up next after the slog fest of Ragnarok. Next up is either Stray or What Remains of Edith Finch.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Stray isn't a bad change of pace. Didn't think it'd be my type of game but enjoyed it. Plan to go back at some point to replay and mop up some trophies

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Had another look at the PS January sale and didn't see much but did have a bit of a chuckle at the Pure Farming 2018 DLC - for just a couple of quid extra your in game character can look extra fashionable with a JCB t-shirt....

message 2205: by [deleted user] (new)

That reminds me of the Xbox avatars. I'm not sure if they're still a thing but I remember spending about £3 to buy an Ironman costume for my avatar on the 360

message 2206: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I loved What Remains of Edith Finch. I think the experience is best if you can plan to just sit down and spend 3hr to get through the thing in one sitting.

Rapidly burning out of Diablo, but nothing else is grabbing me either. Post-holiday doldrums me thinks.

Still plugging away at GoW 2018. Again, it's super gorgeous and rock solid on ps5 with the locked 60fps patch.

I have put a few more hours in over the last few nights. Approaching half-game distance now - have the horned dudes head hanging off Kratos' belt and chatting away. Just landed on the shore for the start of The Magic Chisel quest.

Long game!! I have Ragnarok in my wishlist too but having read that it's a lot bigger than GoW 2018 and I don't know whether I could face it, the 2018 game is big enough!! Very good though I have to say, and has picked up some since slaying the dragon in the mountain. Looking forward to getting the Blades of Chaos back.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Done about all I'm going to on Story of Seasons. By my reckoning It'd be another few weeks of work for the plat, and those weeks would be filled with mind-numbing repetitiveness. Deleted it so I'm not tempted to mindlessly grind for the sake of grinding.

Went to get stuck into The Division 2 DLC but the usual happened. I seem to find it impossible to just pick up a game where I left off, unless I start from scratch I just can't seem to settle. So have started a new character knowing full well I'll have lost interest well before I reach the warlords of New York.

message 2209: by [deleted user] (new)

I felt too knackered to play anything again last night. Going back to work after over a week off has been a bit of a shock to the system.

Might try and at least turn my PS5 on tonight and see what takes my fancy.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Forgot how irritating some of the enemies are in The Division 2. I think I'll be playing it in shorter sessions, so will need to find something to play alongside. Enjoying being back in it but not sure I'll have the patience to go on indefinitely

I rarely game in the week due to work but last night I thought I'd game and played some High on Life. I think I underestimated this game as I had a lot of fun. The boss fights are really well done and getting a new weapon after every boss fight with new abilities keeps it fresh - last night a time slowing bubble can be fired with the lastest weapon I got. And of course all the weapons talk to you which is bizzare, sometimes annoying but can be funny too at times. After feeling burned out a little with Ragnarok playing High on Life was just the game I needed.

Ping! Concept Destruction (PS5)

Nice easy one but still an enjoyable little game. Bought and played the PS4 version ages ago so this was 'free'. Took me a lot less time to plat it this time too.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I think I remembering Concept Destruction being surprisingly fun considering how cheap it was.

I've made decent progress in my current Division 2 playthough, still having a mix of fun and frustration though. Been breaking that up with a bit of Roguebook, which is a pretty addictive wee roguelike, card deck building type. To be honest been probably having more fun with it than The Division

message 2214: by [deleted user] (new)

I never really got on with either Division game. In theory there should be a lot to like but I just didn't really enjoy playing them.

I only picked up the second game with the idea of playing coop with a friend but he went and did pretty much everything on his own or with others leaving me to plod through most of it solo. One of those games I really wish I'd never started.

Hi everyone!!

Hawppy new year for all of you.

Hope everyone is ok.

Finished Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday and had a royal blast with this one.
Loved it from start to finish.
9/10.

Cheers you haws!

Phil, psn: p4tiny | 197 comments Wrapped up the story of GoW 2018 over the weekend and have no shame in saying I had to knock it down to 'Give Me A Story' (easy) difficulty for the Frost & Fire Grendel boss fight onwards! Still had great fun with it though, and even though it did make the rest of the game a little too easy, I only just managed the final Baldur fight! I stumbled upon one of the Valkyrie's too and she completely owned me, I didn't stand a chance to decided straight away not to bother with them!

I remember having to do the same with GoW3 back on ps3 - got to the Hades fight and had to do that and the rest on easy! Some games I can run through without too much issue on the hardest difficulty (Mass Effect trilogy, Dead Space, TLoU etc.) but the GoW games are tough!!

So yeah, the basic story, minimal extra exploration, only 1 optional side mission done, and still took 25 hours! 33% total completion and I'm done with it. Terrific game but time to move onto something different - another relic from the backlog - AC Origins!!

message 2217: by [deleted user] (new)

No shame Phil, I had to do the same to beat the main Valkyrie in the 2018 game and Ragnarok.

The difficulty spikes for each are ridiculously steep. There were a couple of Beserker gravestones I had to do on the easiest difficulty too, partly due to the clunky combat though.

Happy new year Glass. I have Guardians of the Galaxy ready to play so good to hear you enjoyed it.

Happy new year Glass.

I recently dropped the difficulty on Ragnarok to the easiest too. It was becoming a real chore on higher difficulties. Fortunately the mid boss fight checkpoints do make the game more forgiving. I completed two more missions at the weekend so only two to go now to complete the story. Then I’m done. Big if - I might return to the game one day to play some of the side content.

More Warframe story missions for me at the weekend too - the game is a lot better than I was expecting. Competes - almost, but not quite - with Destiny. Really enjoying it though.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm losing interest in continuing with The Division 2. I've had fun but feel like moving on. To what, I've no idea so I'll likely keep at it if I can't think of anything else.

Ping! What Remains of Edith Finch

I just found it weird.

I didn’t think Edith Finch had a Plat? I got 100% but no plat ☹️.

Ooo it might have patched with a platinum since I played it years ago. I’ll have to check. Free plat for someone that doesn’t go for plats 😀.

So looks like there is now a PS5 version of the game, with a plat, and although you transfer across the save it doesn't auto-pop trophies.

message 2223: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah the PS5 version has a plat. Probably why I never got round to it on PS4 ;)

message 2224: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
Although it doesn't auto pop trophies you don't have to repeat the story - so complete one chapter and the campaign completion trophy pops without needing to replay everything. And then it's just a case of getting the missable trophies but you can restart any chapter to cherry pick them. Looks like a very quick plat :-).

message 2225: by [deleted user] (new)

Careful R, it's a slippery slope getting into trophy hawing.

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
Ha ha. Yes but only the easy ones of games I intend to play, or ones I'm close to getting by default ;-). Actually just platted it in my lunch break - literally took me 30 mins. Reminded me how good this game is, as an experience more than game play.

message 2227: by [deleted user] (new)

Congrats mate. They all count.

message 2228: by [deleted user] (new)

I need to decide if I'm playing A Plague Tale: Innocence or Guardians of the Galaxy next. Leaning more towards A Plague Tale I think.

message 2229: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
I've not played Guardians but I have played A Plague Tale: Innocence. I loved it but I know a certain someone on the forum is not so keen on the game ;-). Actually the second game Requiem is even better and one of my games of last year and is in a lot of best game of the year nominations for 2022 for various industry awards etc.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah I found it as dull as the average walking sim ;) It was mildly interesting to start, but an hour or two in and it just wasn't going anywhere. It is one though that I could see why people liked it, just not for me

message 2231: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jan 10, 2023 07:10AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've stuck Edith Finch on to download. If it sucks, I'll be back on here demanding the few minutes I wasted on it back ;)

I've a feeling the only way I could put up with a walking sim is if it was in VR, which you would think the genre was well suited to.

And speaking of VR, as far as I can tell, I've pre-ordered PSVR2 just to play Resi Village lol

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
Plague Tale isn't a walking sim. ;-) It's a stealth game and does have combat - with the sling/catapult thingy, and fire etc. Innocence does have some sticky moments though, at least I thought so. Not many just a couple. Requiem for me at least didn't have many sticky moments - just one for me, but I must admit probably my own fault using all of my resources on nowt beforehand. Requiem has open parts, the graphics are amazing (some of the best of this gen so far) and in terms of story and polish up there with Naughty Dog.

Now Edith Finch is a walking sim with some very very occasional but limited game play. Best walking sim ever though is Firewatch.

"And speaking of VR, as far as I can tell, I've pre-ordered PSVR2 just to play Resi Village lol"

But it's £500 mate 😧

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments If it's an improvement over the first PSVR, then it'll be a good experience

message 2235: by [deleted user] (new)

It'll need to be for one game or a handful at best ;)

message 2236: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jan 11, 2023 12:25AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played What Remains of Edith Finch for about half an hour and...surprisingly it's not terrible. Nearly binned it off on the short walk to the house because it was soo slow, was worried that's all I was in for. But after that, it's been unusual enough to keep me interested. Don't like the way they take control of the camera from you at times and the controls at one point of the story aren't much fun but apart from that (and as walking sims go), it's been alright. Interesting enough that I'll stick with it to the end anyway

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Looks like some Roguebook trophies have bugged on me. There's one to complete with all combos of hero's, the in game tracking seems to say I've done it multiple times but no trophy. There's another one to have at least rank 1 of all the upgrades, I've upgraded them all but again nothing. Not too annoyed as the plat looked unlikely but it's dampened my enthusiasm for continuing

message 2238: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah as soon as a trophy glitches, it pretty much cuts my interest in carrying on. Thankfully not had it too many times.

message 2239: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jan 12, 2023 01:14AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Wasn't in the mood for Edith Finch or Roguebook and I think I'm done with Division 2 (as expected well before reaching the dlc). Ended up starting another Dark Souls 3 attempt. Not died yet but have been very sloppy, and even the trash hit a lot harder than I remember. I still reckon it's my favourite souls, though I'm tempted to go back to Elden Ring as well at the minute

message 2240: by [deleted user] (new)

I started A Plague Tale Innonence last night. I'm not 100% sold on it yet but I found it interesting enough to carry on for the story if nothing else.

I'm worried the controls may cause issues once the game really opens up. I also didn't realise the game (so far at least) is one long escort mission. I hate these missions in general so will have to see how that goes. I knew there was a kid in tow from what I'd seen of it but I'd assumed he was like Ellie in TLOU in that he would pretty much take care of himself.

Will crack on some more tonight.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I don't remember him being too much of a hassle....then again I got bored useless after a couple of hours.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Jumped between Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring & Roguebook a bit too much for my liking yesterday. Would prefer to settle on something. Think there's a free next gen DragonBall Z Kakarot upgrade out, might give that a go

message 2243: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning all. I played nothing last night as I was shattered again. Went to bed at 9pm and woke up at 7 this morning. I don't normally do this and not sure if I should be worried about feeling so tired all the time or just put it down to the time of year, being unfit and a bit lazy.

Having had a night off, I'm looking forward to getting to A Plague Tale tonight/this weekend.

message 2244: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jan 13, 2023 02:58AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Night off? What's that? Had a look at my updated PS wrap up stats for last year (didn't really make a lot of sense sending the final 2022 stats out before the end of 2022!) the other day and out of a maximum possible 365 days played, I managed...365. They also bumped my final plat total for 2022 to 44

message 2245: by [deleted user] (new)

I've just rechecked mine. 240/365 days played.

19 plats which was an increase of 4 from the first stats email. Will have to check what those 4 are as I don't remember a late flurry. Then again I barely remember what happened yesterday.

message 2246: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Wow Deckard, that's some dedication! I love gaming but it feels nice to let the controller sit sometimes.

I'm trying to shake Diablo II. Downloaded a bunch of stuff including Hitman and High on Life to see if they grab me.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Since starting gaming back in the Sinclair Zx Spectrum days, the amount of days I've not gamed is dwarfed by the ones I have, and by a huge amount. you'd think that all that gaming practice I'd be god tier but no, I've always been crap ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments One Piece Odyssey is surprising alright, not seen much of the anime but nice to see a return to turn based battle systems, when for a long time there it seemed Japanese developers were obsessed with switching to more action focused, and more often than not, not quite pulling it off imo.

Looks like I'll be having a bit of an anime based gaming weekend with it and DBZ

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And Elden Ring maybe, I kinda want to see where this pickaxe run will go

message 2250: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning all

I put quite a lot of time into A Plague Tale over the weekend and have really got into it. There have been a couple of annoyances with the controls but nothing gaming breaking and not enough to spoil what is otherwise a very good game.

The story and pacing has been spot on so far so fingers crossed it continues in the same vein. I'm on chapter 11 now so about 2/3 through I think.
