Error | 408 comments Had a nice little holiday weekend stateside - finished up Shadow of Mordor and downloaded the next one. Just finished the intro there. Spent some time with Vampire Survivors which is shockingly addicting "one more run" kind of game with a nice retro aesthetic. Watched a buddy fight the final boss of the original Dragon Warrior on his mini-NES for a change of pace. To finish everything off, I caved and bought Diablo II: Resurrected. Been having a good time with it...seems less forgiving than my experience with III.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Diablo 3 was borderline ridiculous in terms of difficulty. Normal difficulty was way too easy, your life was never in danger. You had to stick it all the way up to the torment difficulties before the game felt balanced. 2 is definitely tougher but seems a bit easier than I remember from years ago

Error | 408 comments We will see Deckard. I feel way behind the curve having never played part II before. I almost didn't find your namesake before leaving for the desert and gave away my free respec from beating the first dungeon. I think I did ok with the item I had imbued with magic, but who knows. Somewhat tempted to just start over again tonight with a new class (I did paladin). I'm sure I'll make just as many mistakes in other chapters though.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Paladin is a pretty decent starting choice in Diablo 2. It's offensive auras can get you though most of the game if you stick a load of points in one of them

message 2105: by [deleted user] (new)

Only managed about 30 mins on Miles Morales last night but still knocked out 3 trophies.

Must be right near the end of the story I think. Been good so far.

My mates

Hope everyone is ok.

Just dropped to say im still alive although my work life is still at the level of Bloodborne DLC.

Also, finished God of War last night.
Good game. Not the masterpiece i kept reading but still a good game and very well crafted.
8/10.

Havent a clue what to start tonight.

message 2107: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Nov 30, 2022 07:25AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Agreed Glass, it's no masterpiece and it's definitely no Andromeda ;) Better or worse though... it's debatable ;)

message 2108: by [deleted user] (new)

My thoughts on God of War exactly Glass.

I am really looking forward to starting Ragnarok though.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments As suspected Unbound has all the usual NFS irritations and frustrations. I'm beginning to think the slight improvements I'd thought there was is largely cosmetic. Still mostly enjoying it but it's becoming a bit of a slog

message 2110: by [deleted user] (new)

NFS games are synonymous with the word slog these days. It does look pretty good from a gameplay video I watched yesterday but will be a while until I get to it.

I'm still recovering from the last few trophies on Heat.

I loved God of War 2018. Can't remember what I said at the time, but it was defo one of my favourite games of the generation. Masterpiece I'm not sure, but not far off for me. Everything about it was so well crafted - it was difficult to fault anything.

So gaming wise I'm three missions off the end of A Plague Tale Requiem - another beautifully crafted game ;-). Then on to Somerville. Actually getting a massive backlog now which I've not had in a while. So much to play on Games Pass. Insurgency Sandstorm is on there now, as is Warhammer Darktide (which is only PC currently but I expect Xbox will hopefully follow).

message 2112: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I'm really looking forward to Darktide. I will probably just buy it even though it is on Gamepass. Vermintide 2 is one of my most played games ever, and this is shaping up to be even better and more replayable.

message 2113: by BauerRAT (new)

BauerRAT alright strangers . you're still here then ?

Hope you're all keeping well ?

Im playing MW2 partying like it's 2009

message 2114: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Gaz, how are you?

MW2 is on my watch list but have a nice backlog I'm getting through atm.

Currently playing Spider-man: Miles Morales and finished the story today. Just mopping up the collectibles etc now.

Think I'm enjoying this more than the first Spider-man. It's shorter and so less repetition and none of those awful stealth missions.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Hey Bauer, how are the koopa's? Wait, that's Bowser not Bauer...

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Managed to finish off the NFS Unbound story last night. Rage quit multiple times but got there in the end. The very last race is a right bastard if you use the wrong type of car. No interest in the plat, really couldn't be bothered with all the collectibles, 3 star'ing every event and the online stuff. Not going to put myself though it.

On to The Callisto Protocol today, which will no doubt be a disappointment since I'm looking forward to it ;)

Still tempted by Midnight Sun's as well......

message 2117: by [deleted user] (new)

" will no doubt be a disappointment "

And I thought I was negative ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played about half an hour of The Callisto Protocol this morning and yeah, it might not be the Ishimura and the CQC might take a bit of getting used to, but it's a promising start. If you like Dead Space, you'll definitely feel at home......though if you do feel at home, you possibly need help ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Equinox80 wrote: "" will no doubt be a disappointment "

You can probably blame all those laps of Indianapolis in Grid for that ;)

They deceived you into thinking you were constantly driving around an oval, but it turned out you were actually spiraling down into hell.

message 2120: by [deleted user] (new)

I've only seen one review so far for The Callisto Protocol but it was very positive.

message 2121: by [deleted user] (new)

Ping! Spider-man: Miles Morales (#199)

Really enjoyed this and whet my appetite for Spider-man 2 whenever that is. I thought NG+ would be a chore but didn't really take long.

Welcome back Bauer. I'm playing MW2 but playing like I'm an old man with crap reactions :-). Barely maintaining a 1:1 K/D.

So I gamed a lot this weekend. Completed A Plague Tale Requiem and have to say I really enjoyed it. Highly polished and enjoyable game with really amazing graphics, environments, characters, story and with game play that's relatively chilled. For me no where near as frustating when compared to the first game and the final mission no frustration to be seen at all lol. It's a possible 10/10 for me. Trying to fault it but can't.

I also completed Somerville. I really enjoyed it - definitely along the lines of Limbo and Inside - but unfortunately no where no near as polished. Great artwork and environments, easy game play and puzzles but engaging, but had issues of screen tearing and lack of polish with character glitching/snagging on environmental objects. Only about 3-4 hours long but I enjoyed it bar the techincal issues. 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter. Could have been 9/10 with more polish. I even got full gamerscore - aka a MS plat ;-).

Next God of War Ragnarok :-).

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Not made much of a dent in The Callisto Protocol yet because..... I'm currently addicted to Midnight Suns.

Well mostly. Have a bad feeling I'll have to start from scratch at some point due to a bug. Not sure if it'll be gamebreaking but I'm wary of sticking too many hours in, just to have to have to do it all again. They've one of those mechanics where you can send someone off to do a mission while you do something else. Fine. Problem is, now when I go to the results screen, the game crashes every time. So, if the story requires me to use it or the character I sent, I think I'll be screwed. I do like Firaxis games but they do have a habit of having a glitch or three

Might take a break from it and focus on The Callisto Protocol and start from scratch later, which is a pity because it's the kind of game that's right up my street and was enjoying it.

Also knocked off one of the collectibles trophies in NFS Unbound. If it wasn't for all the online wins required, I'd be more tempted to attempt the plat. No chance of that happening

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments For once, a PS+ game I'll give a go. I'd been tempted to pick up Biomutant cheap a few times but it never reached the biting point.

message 2125: by [deleted user] (new)

I think PS+ Essential has been good for several months now and have played several games. There was a time I didn't even bother adding games to my library as I had such little interest.

I'll add Biomutant to my backlog.

I'd planned to start GoW Ragnarok but by the time I was able to switch the PS5 on it was 10:30. Too late to start something new so hopefully tonight will be the night.

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
Hi mates

I´ve been playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake on the PS5 but for some reason i started Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition and got hooked.
I now have two massive rpg´s rolling and i need to decide which one i´ll stick.

message 2127: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Hello everyone,

Played a bunch more Diablo 2 over the past week. Decided to start an amazon character and that playstyle has been more fun than the paladin. I just throw a single plague javelin and watch entire hordes melt before they reach me. I'm either extremely slow, or Diablo 2 is much longer than 3. I seem to remember playing through 3 in a single day, but I've just completed the third chapter in resurrected after several extended sessions.

I just watched ACG's review of Biomutant. Actually looks alright - he describes it as a 'zen game' meaning you've got lots of down time between battles. And the open world is good if a little sparse. I've added it to my library, save it for a new release drought. Mass Effect 1/2/3 remastered is also a good PS+ freebie. I played the remastered version on games pass but now have the choice of playing 2/3 on PS5. I tell you PS+ games are sooo much better than games with gold games.

message 2129: by [deleted user] (new)

You can replay PS5 versions of Mass Effect 2 & 3? Do they have their own separate PS5 trophy lists?

Yea I think ME remastered are for the PS4 but back compatible on PS5.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Not really been in the mood to start anything new at the minute, so have been messing about in NFS Unbound. The online would be frustrating if I had any expectation of getting the trophies, but as I don't, it's kind of addictive. I usually hate the type, getting rammed off the road at the first corner, but the cycle of earning the cash to improve your car/buy new ones is keeping me fairly interested. Well, more than recent NFS anyway. Think I'll probably play it the rest of the week before getting stuck into Callisto over the weekend.

message 2134: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning all. I started GoW Ragnarok last night. I didn't really feel in the mood for it for some reason but wanted to make the most of my lad going to bed relatively early so cracked on.

I enjoyed what I did play. Wielding and throwing the leviathan axe is still as satisfying and the story already engaging. It looks amazing as you'd expect too.

Looking forward to getting back on tonight.

message 2135: by [deleted user] (new)

More GoW R last night. Still struggling to get into even though it is good. Partly because I'm not getting on my PS5 until quite late. Will stick with it I think and try and organise things so I can have a long session at the weekend.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm gonna have to decide what to move on to pretty soon. Getting a little sick of NFS. Still not quite sure what I'm in the mood for though

message 2137: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I'm actually in the mood for TLOU Part 1, even though it's a grubby cash grab on Sony's part.

If I get any vouchers or PSN credit for Christmas I'll probably pick it up.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Managed to fluke most of the online trophies in NFS. Just have to get lucky with a tier S+ event, then I'll likely take a break before attempting to 3 star all events. Having a bit of a weird relationship with it though, one minute I'll think I'm done with it, the next I'll be enjoying it again.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Eventually managed the S+ tier win in NFS. They really could do with nerfing the Konigsegg Regera, any race with one of those in it, and you haven't a hope. Half the races they are in, the rest of the pack DNF. Thought I was going to have to grind out the cash for one to stand a chance but got lucky with a one on one with the same car as me only less upgraded. Don't know whether to take a break now or stick with it. Can't say I'm looking forward to 3 star'ing all the drift zones...

Morning all. Started Ragnarok over the weekend. Probably a good 5-6 hours in and got to the more open area. And I've been taken on a wild wide into the caves and across waters. Also got side tracked by a really good side quest. Combat has been good but I'm not much for remembering combos so I tend to stick to a few moves that I like and that seem effective. So far so good. Really good graphics on PS5 especially when I first hit the open map with the lake - definitely a wow moment. Loving it so far. And a fair few boss fights and mini bosses already.

message 2141: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Deck, if Unbound is anything like Payback or Heat, just use a Mazda RX7 for the drifting and they'll probably end up being the easiest events to 3*

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Cheers. Probably not as bad as I think, but generally not a fan of drifting. Depending on the traffic, they can be a little annoying, for me anyway

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Not something I expected to be saying before I picked it up and looked at the trophy list but....ping! NFS Unbound. Overall enjoyed it more than the previous few, not a huge step up but found it more fun for some reason. The drift events weren't difficult with the right car but still not a big fan of those

While I'm in the mood, I've reinstalled Heat to knock off the online trophies at least while there's still a bit of life in it. I'd finished the story previously but couldn't be arsed with the collectables/3* events/online etc. Might leave it to the weekend though and get stuck into Crisis Core though....then again with The Witcher 3 upgrade due tomorrow (I think), I might just forget about Heat

Error | 408 comments Continuing with Diablo II, playing around with classes. My Amazon is an unstoppable force. My Paladin and Barbarian are both stuck on the end boss of Chapter 2, Duriel. Duriel is by far the hardest encounter I've had in this game. Significantly more difficult than Diablo even.

message 2146: by [deleted user] (new)

Congrats Deck. Have you had your PlayStation wrap up email for 2022 yet?

I've earned 655 trophies across 459 hours.

Would love to know your stats ;)

message 2147: by Phil, psn: p4tiny (last edited Dec 13, 2022 11:26PM) (new)

Phil, psn: p4tiny | 197 comments I earned 94 trophies (including 1 plat! Days Gone!) across 142 hours - 91 hours of which was just on Days Gone lol!

Lightweight!! 16 games played total, and that was 6 more than 2021 :)

Will be a few more hours of GoW 2018 before the end of the year :)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments PS Wrap up lol. Prepare for some crazy numbers...

Total hours played in 2022 - 3544 over 344 days (Elden Ring took up 10% of that lol)

Games played - 251

Trophies earned - 2557 (39 plat, 278 gold, 429 silver, the rest bronze)

If you level up a few times, you'll likely have less of a problem, a couple of levels can make a big difference. You could also do the old - town portal as soon as you enter and run away once you run out of potions. Occasionally they'll return to full health but most of the time you can portal back and forth and chip away.

message 2150: by [deleted user] (new)

I managed 19 plats which I didn't think was too bad but then 6 or 7 of those were Mayo level difficulty I think.

My 2023 stats should hopefully be a bit more impressive now getting a PS5 has renewed my interest.
