Yeah the cops in NFS Heat pretty much ruined it for me too. I've been through the pain of platting it not too long ago so can help if you want.
I can help with the 'Earn and bank 1m REP points in a night' and completing and banking a Heat 5 race.
Unfortunately you're going to need to do quite a lot of Heat 3 and 5 races just to unlock the higher spec parts, which in turn you'll need to 3* all the events. Getting 3 stars on all events isn't generally too bad but a couple of the speed cameras are absolute bastards.
I used the Keonigsegg to grind lots of money, 3* a majority of events and do a lot of the Heat level 3 & 5 grind. Then went back to the Porcshe 911 RSR ($86,000), upgraded all the parts won in Heat 3 & 5 races and change the engine block to increase stats more. You'll then be ready to get the last few speed cameras, or possibly just the last as I did all but one in the Keonigsegg.
I remember thinking with this game I'd pretty much reached the end, only for a need to grind a load more money or parts out. I generally hated night racing because of the cops.

I had a look at what trophies you've already unlocked and you're probably a majority of the way there to taking down 100 cops. I didn't notice I was taking many out but the trophy popped unexpectedly as the cops do a good job of crashing own cars when chasing you which counts. Of the ones you have left that's probably the one that requires the least though tbh.

Yeah I think the cop AI is borderline broken in the game. You're likely doing this already but I found the best two things to have in the 2 auxiliary slots are the highest upgraded version of the radar disruptor and the additional repair.
I hope to never see the words 'Rhino incoming ' again.

Edit: shouldn't be as bad as I thought. Found a wee race by the dock area that I managed to take out 7 in a few minutes

Well done Deck. A few of the things I found a struggle on NFS Heat, especially that speed camera that runs along side that river.
100 cops is only a matter of time and you could add an extra damage thing in an auxiliary slot to help this along too.
Payback next? ;)

I've been playing Ragnarok. Absolutely meets all my expectations and exceeds them. A few things I don't like much (when is there never!) but overall it's a beautiful and fantastic game for me. It's also a lot bigger than I thought it would be, especially as I explore every nook and cranny and take just a little longer in the fights than somebody else probably would. (Am I the only one who actually enjoyed the Dragon fights?)
Anyhoo, just wanted to show my face, I'm still around and hopefully with the new shiny laptop, I'll be able to keep up a bit more in the future.
If I don't get back on before, hope everyone has a fab Christmas and you get time for a little controller work in amidst all the other stuff.

Sorry, I'm with Glass on this, I liked Andromeda as well.
"Sorry, I'm with Glass on this, I liked Andromeda as well."
Surely there can't be two of you!
I'm currently playing GoW Ragnarok and I'm two minds about it.
I'm enjoying the story and voice acting and characterisation is all first class. The graphics are amazing and they've made good use of the haptic feedback.
However, I'm starting to feel I'd rather watch it as a film than play as a game. I'm many hours in and it hasn't really clicked. The combat is satisfying but only ever boils down to button mashing the same basic moves all the time. You unlock different moves but not many of them are particularly intuitive. I've unlocked various runic abilities, enhancements etc but none seem to make much of a difference to anything, all seemingly quite superficial and formulaic.
Weirdly though, despite all of this, it can be a slight wrench to turn it off for the night as I often want to carry on. Although, that in part is because I keep thinking maybe it'll throw out a trophy at certain points.

Looks like the Midnight Suns patch has done the job, so a probably needed break from the Need for Speed marathon is on the cards

Morning all. Welcome back AG. Looks like there are quite a few of us playing Ragnarok at the moment. I've played another 3-4 hours over the weekend. Still really enjoying it. Got to Ironwood and the graphics there in 4k on PS5 are insane. I have noticed there is a bit more down time in Ragnarok compared to the last GoW which I don't mind - certainly breaks up the intense combat.
Also started High on Life on gamespass. I nearly binned it off as the constant one-liners got a bit much especially when in some cases you have to listen before progressing on. However, I gave it a chance and the combat is quite fun and the environments open up. A mixture of gun play, melee, platforming and simple environmental puzzle solving. My kinda thing. The comedy is constant and is hit or miss. Sometimes funny, sometimes coarse and a bit dated, and sometimes I just ignore it. It's OK, worth playing on games pass. 6-7/10 maybe so far.

Played some GoW Ragnarok this weekend and got into it quite a lot more.
The story is keeping me engaged which rarely happens with me in games.

I must admit I know nothing off Midnight Suns.

I am at the point where I have just got back to Midgard from Alfheim, so I know I'm not too far in, but it's just very samey - very very good samey, but still samey.
**SPOILER**
I know there's a bit where Atreus gets ill and Kratos has to go home and get the Blades of Choas - how far in is that?

After that I'm thinking Witcher 3 PS5 since NFS Payback seems to have killed my NFS run, well Payback's collectables did, to be precise

Good stuff Deck. I was catching you up on plats but GoW Ragnarok is slowing me down.
I've been playing it more over the last few days and definitely getting into it now.
I hope the plat mop up isn't too much of a pain.

Now, I reckon I'll be jumping between a dozen games, hoping that one will stick. Maybe have a look at the January sale for inspiration but not expecting to see much
More GoW Ragnarok and had a bit of a break from the main story. Did some good side quests in Alfheim clearing the sandstorm and uncovering new areas.
I'll be finishing work soon until Jan so hopefully I can get plenty of gaming time in between now and then.

Might give a go if it ever appears on PS+, but I'll not be forking over any cash for it.
Yeah if you didn't like the 2018 game you won't Ragnarok either.
At first I thought that was the case but as it's gone on there has been more variety so at the moment at least, I'd say Ragnarok is better.

Stuck on something a little more laid back, Potion Permit, and managed to ping it. Got stuck into the PS4 version now, so should have a 2nd plat for it in a few days

Tails of Iron - Side-scrolling souls-like with an adorable graphical style. Rat protagonist. Just did the intro.
South Park - The Fractured but Whole - I picked this up remembering that I enjoyed The Stick of Truth many years ago. It's more of the same. I put in an hour or two to complete the first couple story beats. I dig the game mechanics and turn-based combat, but I may not have much tolerance for South Park Humor anymore.

Hi all, still off work until the 3rd. I've finished the main story in GoW Ragnarok and thought it was well done.
I'm clearing up for the platinum now but my god (of war), it's a slog. Even with YT guides. I was hoping to ping it tomorrow as my last plat of 2022 but unless a miracle happens, it'll be my first of 2023 and a good few days in.

Ping! God of War: Ragnarok
I've enjoyed this one more than the last. Still an 8/10 at the most though (7.7 maybe more accurate). A good story and cast of characters but let down a little with clunky combat, more noticable against the Beserker King and Valkyrie Queen and too much reliance on recycled execution animations (like the last game) which seem to last longer the more times you're forced to watch them.
The plat mop up was a bit of a slog but it was nice picking up all the lore etc in a well crafted world.
Platinum #200 at last!

I'm currently playing a slightly weird mix of The Division 2 and Story of Seasons. Killing one minute, farming the next ;)
Have to say The Division 2 is looking pretty decent these days (not that it was bad day one). The frame rate and visual boost on PS5 has it looking very smooth
Hi all. Hope you had a good crimbo and new year. I was off since the 22nd and returned to work today :-(. I gamed quite a bit except for the last few days. I still haven't finished Ragnarok. I think I have another 4 missions to go. It's quite a long game. Strangely I'm not enjoying Ragnarok as much as I thought I would. I mean it's still a very good game but - and even though this game has more open parts, more variety etc - I'm finding it a bit of a bind. I completely agree about the combat - it's clunky. Why I didn't experience this in the first game I don't know. I was in a boss fight yesterday (massive dog/wolf, is it Gaum?) and a mini-boss before him and I honestly felt like the controls were either not responding or had some kind of clunky delay. I find it a bind to even run away or dodge attacks. I've even had a couple of bugs where I've had to go back to the previous checkpoint (which I never had in the first game) where I was stuck and couldn't move. I'm also finding the campaign a little underwhelming and not very engaging - feels like I'm doing things for the sake of doing them sometimes (like padding). And I hate some of the puzzling - if I never have to do another sigil gears puzzle again I'll be a happy man. I'm sure they weren't in the first game. In my last mission I had to do three of them back-to-back pretty much. Anyway, still a very good game but yea probably a 7.5-8/10 for me too. Also been playing Warframe with mates and been getting into it. As it's a free-2-play I spent a tenner on it - don't feel so bad when it's free. I finally can use my jet pack suit thingyme in the open world which is a massive plus.
Cheers Deck. I kind of wish I'd not chosen such a long game for #200 but it's done now. It's a decent game for such a milestone and it'll show for ages on PSN Profiles so glad it wasn't My Name is Mayo or something like that.
I hated those sigil arrows too R. Especially where you have to chain them. A few times I thought I'd got them near enough to each other but then the explosion wouldn't chain.
I had a bug with the Trials of Musselheim. Some of the final challenges weren't opening up as they should and would have ruined the plat attempt. Thankfully quitting the game and restarting worked but it wasn't ideal. Also the way those later challenges unlocked wasn't clear at all and I had to look up online.

Yea those sigil puzzles lining them up is not fun lol. And they're overused in certain levels. As I'm more or less main-lining the story I've not really explored. I think once I reach the end of the campaign I can't see me doing side-quests etc, unless I take a long break and return to it with a bit of freshness. I've already put in 20+ hours and by the time I complete it it will be more like 30+ hours and by that point I'm pretty sure I would have had my fill of the game. I loved the first GoW (of the reimagined series) but this one it's just good, not great. I do feel as well this game is held back a little - there are a lot invisible barriers and far too many corridors to get from A to B (like disguised loading screens) and to me I feel this much more now than before (perhaps I was more forgiving of this on PS4). Needs another next-gen reboot :-). The graphics are a mixed bag too - sometime amazing looking, and then other times quite soft and lacking detail. I guess it must be resolution scaling.
I noticed the loading screen corridors a lot more this time round. I really think they're in solely for the PS4 version.
I think if it was exclusively on the PS5 there wouldn't be half as many.

I think I'm slightly under or over 50 hour mark on Ragnarok. But that's doing everything the game has.
I think the loading screens on PS5 could be much shorter or even removed but there is a lot of dialogue in them so I think they had to keep them regardless. It's also all the narrow passages between areas - again, only needed for PS4 I think for loading. They serve no real purpose - I read they have these to break up the game to give the player a break but i don't believe it.
Yeah I don't really believe that either. That's what the pause button is for haha
Another thing that niggled me a bit is when on the boat or being pulled on the sledge thing, Mimir would often start talking about something interesting but would never get to finish what he started (unless you sat still for a while).
