BULLDAWGS - 17
Cheers Val

i don't think you're alone in thinking that Blastro...i certainly don't get the 'excitement' of being another year older these days than i did in the past, but i am grateful that i do still continue to get older! ;-)
And personally speaking..i think I'm moulding nicely into a Victor Meldrew type as the years whisk by!

17.8.110 (Q3) 5.2.32
19.11.125 (Q4) 6.6.42
That's what you call a trouncing. An absolute lesson in football skills. The Demons couldn't put a foot (or hand) wrong tonight. Captain (and 6' 10" ruckman) Max Gawn scored 5 goals - unheard of! Every player contributed. I hope they turn up in two weeks time for the Grand Final with the same level of intensity.

Well that was a turn-up for me! The injury-ridden, much travelled Bulldogs fronted up to a rested Port Adelaide playing in front of their feral home-ground supporters and blew them out of the park in the first quarter. After that they weren't headed all night. Another Grand Final for the Doggies! AND two Melbourne teams! Woo-hoo!

AFL 2020 GRAND FINAL
Saturday, 25 September
MELBOURNE DEMONS (TheFoe) v WESTERN BULLDOGS (Blastro)
in Perth at 7:15pm
If punters could lodge their tips by midnight FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 24th (your time) it would be a great help, although I can accept them up until 10.00am SATURDAY (your time) if absolutely necessary.

Port Adelaide (from South Australia) went into tonight’s game having enjoyed an entire month without travel. If they had won, they would have flown to Perth and not had to quarantine. Not so the Bulldogs.
You might remember Round 23, the last game of the home-and-away season, when, in a nail-biter, the result (on August 20) was
Western Bulldogs v Port Adelaide Power
4.1.25 (Q1) 1.3.9
5.3.33 (Q2) 1.8.14
9.3.57 (Q3) 6.10.46
10.4.64 (Q4) 9.12.66
That game was played in Melbourne (1hr 20min flight from Adelaide). Port then flew home to prepare for their Qualifying Final against the Cats on their home ground. The Dogs had earned a home game against the Bombers in an Elimination Final (on August 29) but because of Covid restrictions, this had to be played in Tasmania (1hr 5min flight from Melbourne).
Next up the Dogs had to fly to Brisbane to face the Lions on September 4 in a semi-final (2hr 25min flight Launceston to Brisbane). This was the game where they snuck home by a point scored in the dying minutes. They flew to Perth on the following day (5hr 40min flight Brisbane to Perth). At this point, the Western Australia government reset the Bulldogs’ quarantine clock and the Dogs could start “banking” part of their fortnight’s quarantine.
On Friday (September 10), the Dogs flew from Perth to Adelaide for tonight’s Preliminary Final (2hr 45mins) where the South Australian government took no notice of negative tests conducted in Western Australia 24 hours earlier, meaning the Dogs were unable to have a light run at Adelaide Oval on Friday evening when they landed. However all players and staff received South Australian-approved negative tests early this morning, which allowed them to make a lunchtime trip to the ground to stretch their legs seven hours before the match.
They will now fly back to Perth (3hr 20min) and be required to spend another week in hotel quarantine, whereas the Demons (who have been in Perth since August 29 and have served their quarantine) are free to roam the streets of Perth for the next fortnight.
The mandatory fortnight of isolation - aside from training - began on September 5, meaning players and staff will only be released hours before the Brownlow Medal ceremony on September 19. They would then have six days under the same eased restrictions as the Demons ahead of the Grand Final on September 25 at Optus Stadium. The Dogs have been tested 14 times in 25 days for Covid – I think it’s safe to say they’re negative!

I recall that of the grand final of three years ago, when the Giants got their first and thus far only grand final match against the unstoppable Tigers....and it wasn't really much of nail biter was it...the Giants got thumped!
Congrats to Tech and Blastro....and equally and interstingly that both the teams supported by Nick and Blastro, are through to the final. How apt that these two half century old chaps, just fresh from celebrating their milestones, are now going head to head in the big one! I hope it's a gud 'un chaps! :)

Daughter and all the family will be together to watch the game and are stocked up with cup cakes, donuts, and choc-top ice-creams, all decorated in red, white and blue - it's amazing how small businesses have pivoted in lockdown to earn a crust somehow. They've also acquired pre-mixed cocktails in club colours.
My son and d-i-l are holed up in a bubble with her parents. They all support different teams so with no allegiances, they've just decided to enjoy themselves. Their (printed) program of events is as follows:
1.00pm - President's Lunch
- Location: Mitchell Deck/Dining Room
- Dress code: Black Tie
3.00pm - Half Time Heroes (kicking the footy)
- Location: Acord Patch
- Dress code: Sporting attire
4.00pm - Hit the Target (handball and kicking competition)
- Location: Wood Street
- Attire: Sporting attire
5.00pm - AFL Trivia
- Location: Mitchell Living Room
- Attire: Comfort
7.15pm - 2021 AFL Grand Final
They will also be conducting sweeps 9between the 4 adults and a 2 year old) for who gets the Norm Smith Medal (best on ground) and who kicks the first goal. I wish I could join them but COVID restrictions prevent that.
