"BALL UP!" - Val's 2021 Aussie Rules Footy Tipping *Open to Everyone*
y'all need to cut a switch, go out the back door in the rain, give yourself a sound thrashing for an hour and think about what y'all done did!!!!!

I know the feeling! Happens to me all the time. Especially now we're in the most stringent lockdown of the last 18 months. With only 28% of the population vaccinated, all governments here are trying to eliminate the virus completely. I'm not sure how successful it's going to be. We're now at the stage (in Victoria) with childcare (i.e. pre-school) closed (going down well with people already working from home!) and all primary-age children recommended to wear masks (all schools are closed). Don't worry if you miss getting your tips done Suzy. You're an easy one to guess!!
Anita wrote: "so sorry Val,I had a wedding today ,the twins 15 th tomorrow and 30 nametags to sew on."You are excused Anita. Sounds very full on. I feel we have grown up alongside those twins.
Well I don't think Philip and Dean have been sighted (but I could be wrong!) If they haven't already tipped, here's my best guess on their behalf.Philip:
Richmond
Sydney
Brisbane Lions
Geelong
GWS
Fremantle
Essendon
Adelaide
Dean:
Hawthorn
Sydney
Brisbane Lions
Geelong
GWS
St Kilda
Essendon
N Melbourne
Today's results:Richmond Tigers (Philip) v Hawthorn Hawks (Isabella)

If you thought last night's game was exciting, you should have seen the Lions/Eagles game. There was a complicated formula to see the Lions' percentage (points for/points against) increase sufficiently for them to overtake the Bulldogs and move into 4th place. Once the Eagles reached 87 points, the Lions had to score 119 and were sitting on 118 forever. The quarter went for about 36 minutes and the Lions finally stumbled over the line with everyone dead on their feet.

I listened in on the game Val, very exciting.....and that last quarter seemingly just wouldn't end! I think the clock went well past 40 minutes. BTW the Lions final score is 125 points, so they just clinched 4th place on the ladder.
Melbourne 12-9 (81) beat Geelong 12-5 (77)😤 I reckon Nick just wrapped the title up 😤...the jammy so&so! 😤

Another nail-biting finish down at Geelong. 32 points down at three quarter time and the Dees fought back to win with a goal after the siren. Both teams were fighting for that number one spot.
And if the Giants hadn't won, they might have fallen out of the eight. Scary days indeed!
Another game i had to listen to as well Val...nail biting stuff indeed. And guess who they will be playing next in the pre finals match.....yep, their rivals the Swans. Given what they did to the poor Suns this week....it's going to be tough one me thinks, but not impossible. As for Demons clinching it with that after siren goal....unbelievable. I'd all but switched off by the 3rd quarter, when they were down by 40 points. The Cats really shouldn't have lost that, but i'm happy cos i tipped the Dees! :)

Please check your scores! it's been a long day and there's been lots of calculations. Congratulations to all winners!!
Well that's the home-and-away season wrapped up and it's great to hand the winner's trophy to Nick! This is our 10th year (I think!!) - can you believe it??? Nick has been there from the start and his Demons propped up the ladder for most of those years. And I think it's fair to say, his tipping sort of matched his team's performance. But not this year!! Not only is he our winner but his Demons finished top of the table. He's been very consistent so for his efforts he wins another $35.00 for Launch Housing. Isabella leapt into second place and wins $25.00 for Backpack Beds for Homeless, a charity she shares with Steve who finished third and he adds another $15.00 for them. Suzy was a worthy wooden spoon winner and earns another $10.00 for Friends With Dignity. Yet another win was for the Coleman Medal - the player who scores the most goals in the home-and-away season. This year's winner was Harry Mackay of Carlton (58 goals). The $15.00 earned will go into the pot for distribution in the wash-up. There is more money to come for the club that provides the winners of the Brownlow Medal (Best & Fairest) and the Rising Star Award (Best 1st year player).
For those who haven't run out of steam, there's another 4 weeks of Finals (Covid permitting) for any interested participants. If anyone would like to view the AFL Ladder before submitting next week's tips, it's at http://www.afl.com.au/ladder

If punters could lodge their tips by midnight THURSDAY August 26 (your time) it would be a great help, although I can accept them up until 10.45am FRIDAY (your time) if absolutely necessary.
Congratulations to Nick, a sterling effort sah. This is my 6th season and as usual i've ended up on my familiar spot, slap bang in the middle of the pack! I shall have to continue to aspire to the lofty heights of your success Foe. :)And congrats to Steve...and amazingly in her first season Isabella too. Oh and Suzy too....despite not being here much of the season!!
And also to you Val..for once again, excelling in your typical diligence and and for this season at least, managing to keep on top with all the proxy tipping for those absentees this year, in what has been another trying year with the chaos of the pandemic, and sadly, of course, the loss of one of our regulars Les. :(
You deserve a Olympic gold medal for your efforts too! :)
Thanks everyone, 10 years and I finally get a win, (and so do the Demons), very happy with that!! :-)

Hmmm, ....I can see I'll have to keep on my toes more than ever this FF season methinks 😳
And mine, would love to see GWS get up here, but against a team that acheieved their highest score of the season last week...it's a tall order!:Port - 13
Swans - 29
Lions - 12
Bombers - 10

As Duke has already pointed out I'm afraid I haven't felt able to join in and to participate on the Forum as often as I would have liked to have done over this last season but, being as my Punt is so very easy to work out (as I always Punt for the Underdogs and my favourite number is 7) I would have still won my wonderful wooden spoon place if I had been here every week to place my Punts ... and I feel very happy and also honoured to once again be sitting in last place as always - LOL!!! ;o>Bless you and thank you so much, Val, for deciding to carry on regardless and, in doing so, for providing us all with such a welcome and a greatly needed distraction from what has turned out to be a truly awful, incredibly challenging and also a heartbreakingly 18 months for so many of us ... x x x
I SO wish that our wonderful brave lovely Lez was also here with us right now ... x
Because I need the margin for all four games (thank you everyone for falling into line because I forgot to tell you), I've taken the liberty, Suzy, of making your margin 7 points for all 4 games. I'm sure you'll approve.
My tips:I really, really hope Geelong win tonight but I'm going with head over heart. They're a young team who didn't achieve their potential last year; they're playing on their home ground and with Geelong fans not allowed to enter South Australia, the crowd is going to be 99% barracking loudly for Port.
Port x 9
Swans x 8
Dees x 17
Dogs x 17 (again, I'd love to see my young, enthusiastic Bombers dispose of a badly out-of-form Dogs, but my head says the Dogs will bounce back)
If Dean and Philip don't make it in time, here's my tips on their behalf.Philip's tip:
Cats by 7 pts
Dean's tip:
Cats x 12
If they do make it, their tips will override mine.
Tonight's result:Port Adelaide Power (available) v Geelong Cats (available)
4.3.27 (Q1) 2.5.17
8.7.55 (Q2) 3.8.26
9.10.64 (Q3) 3.11.29
12.14.86 (Q4) 5.13.43
That was a comprehensive lesson for the Cats!!

I could swear I read through every new Post last night and yet I never noticed the obvious?!! ... that everyone had put a Margin against each Team they had punted for?!! ... ! ;oO
I'm really starting to worry where on Earth my Mind is these days!!!
Thanks Val ... x ... I've just edited my previous Post accordingly ;o>
Giants hold on and win by a point!!!!Any Demons or Lions fans out there - this is a great game. Tune in if you've got the time|opportunity.
I meant to post Philip's tips earlier. They are:Cats by 7 pts
Swans by 1 pts
Melbourne by 13 pts
W Bulldogs by 28 pts
Today's/Tonight's results:Sydney Swans (Anita) v Greater Western Sydney Giants (Duke)
3.2.20 (Q1) 3.2.20
5.4.34 (Q2) 9.3.57
8.6.54 (Q3) 11.7.73
10.13.73 (Q4) 11.8.74
Just when the Giants looked unbeatable, Sydney started clawing their way back in to the game. As you can see, the Giants scored a single point in the last quarter. The Swans' errant kicking cost them the game. It was a very tense finish, especially as I was barracking for the Giants (yes, I know I tipped the Swans - head vs heart).
Melbourne Demons (TheFoe) v Brisbane Lions (David)
5.4.34 (Q1) 4.2.26
9.10.64 (Q2) 5.4.34
9.12.66 (Q3) 7.5.47
13.15.93 (Q4) 9.6.60
The first quarter was very exciting but when the Lions' Daniel McStay got taken out of the game (concussed by a team-mate's knee), Melbourne dominated. They looked awesome tonight. Can they win the flag?? it remains to be seen. At least they (along with Port Adelaide) get a week's rest now.
Another $15.00 was earned this week by that man TheFoe (good fortune seems to follow him everywhere). 19 year old Luke Jackson (who had a front tooth knocked out in tonight's game) was voted the 2021 Rising Star (i.e. first year player). Well done (again!) Nick.

....though I've a feeling you might just 'nick' it Nick! 😜"
I'll tell you something Sj, this was as an exciting..."
I checked the score after the first quarter, then foolishly assumed the points are safely in the bag for the Bulldogs. That'll learn me! 🤦♂️ d'oh!
