I usually chime in when I start reading. I have no problem with starting discussions and resurrecting some threads now, but It wasn't like this from the beginning. I was a silent member for a year before I gathered my courage to comment on something. Now it feels strange when I know how nice people are here, but the internet is not always a nice place, so I understand why some members need time to accommodate before they start to comment and they just read the books and see what others have to say about them.
Now, when I start to read a scheduled RR book and comment in the First Impressions thread, I usually discover there are more people reading. Or I just have a nice chat with people who already read the book.
I have a really good time discussing books because if I want a discussion I try to start one :) Sometimes all the thread need is an old, good "Is anybody there" post.

And of course not all books will spark discussion, that's just the way it is. I'm not saying we should force people to discuss every book. I only want to make sure that if and when people do want to talk about a book, they can feel comfortable doing so. And as always, trying to navigate spoilers when not all platforms work the same is an ongoing issue everyone is trying to figure out.

I didn't read "American Gods" so I'm going to organize a BR before "Anansi Boys" if there will be anyone willing to read it together. But we have some time left and I have quite a busy reading schedule right now.
We are reading the Malazan Series as BR so if anyone is reading (or think about starting) "Gardens of the Moon" it's a good time. We are starting the next book in the series in August, but the thread is about the whole series and some of us are way ahead with the reading.
I'm writing this because if you want to read the book only if there will be a discussion, you can make plans to get the books.
Now when I know there is a need for that I'll try to be even more active.

I've been posting the links around the 7th, so a week before the official reread start date. I hope that's enough time, considering the reread schedule is always available*, so they shouldn't come as a surprise.
* Beginning of this thread, buddy read thread and Current Events!

Yes, all the stories from I, Robot are in the Complete Robot as well.

Thanks for the info, Gabi :)

Good idea.

Have you read "American Gods"?

You probably know that Anansi Boys is a loose sequel to American Gods -- same world and mythos, different protagonist, direction, and mood.

Thanks Mike, I didn't, or if I did I'd forgotten. I'll give Anansi Boys a go anyway. I've enjoyed everything else by Gaiman I've read, particularly Stardust.

Have you read "American Gods"?"
I also would be interested in doing this BR. I've read MOST of the boo..."
Ok, so I'll take some action in the BR thread :)
It was me this time! I saw it and recommend we all forget it happened. The spammer is out of the group.

And since there are traces of spammers in this thread, it's not completely off topic to say that's how you can tell which one of us mopped things up. I will almost always delete all evidence of a d*ckhead, no matter what flavor. I feel strongly that members shouldn't even know there was a spammer. Allison on the other hand does leave evidence, to show both members and potential d*ckheads that they will be dealt with. Upsides and downsides to both, just something you can use to try to figure out who held the broom :)

Despite it almost being 1am in the UK when I posted that it made total sense to me for Allison in the US to be asleep and Anna to be awake in Finland...

Anna wrote: "I'll be the grumpy grumbler again and point out that replying to trolls and spammers doesn't help anyone, DMing a mod will. (Not that I would've noticed, I was sleeping!)

Wait, Allison says you never sleep. We've been lied to.

Excuse me.
She never sleeps. She briefly recharges. These attempts to malign my good name and skew public opinion on ANNA (Artificial Nominal Neuro-sapient Application) (yes, she says she's Finnish, in which language this would not be the acronym, but she could be semantically-editing her name depending on nationality, or using English to throw us off the trail) are not appreciated, though clearly she's adapting to our parlance.

edit: I appreciate that you're using feminine (=human) pronouns for this ANNA!
edit2: Wow, it feels very wrong to write my name in all caps and exclamation points :D

(lol, I accidentally typo-ed 'fried', but I caught it in time :P That might've been alarming!)

This book should cause a lively discussion, I think. Soooo "toss a coin to your Witcher"... Oups, sorry ;)

You're brave. I don't think I could suffer to go through a book calling Jaskier "Dandelion" *shudders* Translating names is my pet peeve.

This is one of the controversial things I hope to discuss 😉 I think I can bear "Dandelion" because I know the story behind it. This is one of many things I'm very curious about English and other translations.
And believe me, it can be even stranger like in the Czech version Jaskier is Marigold so Triss Merigold is Triss Ranunculus... And there is more madness to this mess but I'll save the story for the RR.
So there is another reason you should vote for the Witcher, I can provide fun facts one can find on the Polish internet and my notes from the contemporary literature course (where we analyzed "The Last Wish" and "Sword of Destiny").
There will be a new illustrated edition available in December. I think this is a new translation. The translator is Danusia Stok. So there is a hope that Jaskier will be Jaskier.

I also had to google what the heck a valvatti is XD Meaning I've never heard the word or anything like it in Finnish.
edit: The Finnish wiki entry doesn't mention dandelions, so I'm not sure they are actually dandelions, but yeah, they look a bit like dandelions?
