The book was super low on clonfict which it wasn't a bad thing. It's refreshing to see a couple communicating and resolvings their issues with a simple talk. Like the other books of the series, I still had problems with the author's writing and the ending was super corny (not in a good way).

Task 03: Read a minimum of 600 pages in books with an audio version

Fits: has an audio book version

This was a unique take on a serial killer novel. Instead of being told from the norm of being from the perspective of the detective and the killer, this one is more about the victims and from their perspective. That said, I pretty much new who the killer was as soon as we met the character. Mainly because that person kind of stood out. It's hard to explain without giving away a detail that would spoil the answer. Anyway, I liked the book a lot and will read more from this author.

Review: What a great way to wrap up this series. I love the Stones, and Justin is definitely a mini Cooper and Matthew.
This book had all the feels.
Caroline has to be one of the strongest women that I know. When I say I just about cried with her every time she shed a tear, it would not be an exaggeration. She did everything she could under the worst of circumstances to raise Dylan.
Justin was everything. Cooper and Parker raised a remarkable human.
I think this story hit me so hard because I grew up the child of addicts, so I know how it is to be an enabler. I actually had to go to Alateen /Al-anon to curve my need to make excuses for my parents bad behavior, as well as giving in to their codependent behavior.
My childhood wasn't ideal, but even in this illness I knew they loved me. The need to feed their addiction could often times be stronger than that love though. So, I've experience the theft and pawning of belongings, the out of control behavior, etc...
Natasha Madison did an excellent job writing about the behavior of someone completely gone to their addiction, to the point of hopelessness. Bravo!
I'm just glad the Justin was so strong in his convictions when it came to his love for Caroline and Dylan.

So I think I will pick something else. I think I read it for the Right Side Up challenge for flower in the title. Or some similar task.

Rating/Review: 5 stars. This was another re-read for me. I was nervous about reading this book the first time - it's about 2 guys who escape/are thrown away by a polygamous cult. I am from Utah and these kinds of cults are a problem here so it hits a little close to home. And as someone who grew up as a religious minority (as a non-mormon in Utah), books with religious themes can make me uncomfortable. Sorry that was probably TMI.
Anyway, I ended up loving the book, it is very sweet and luckily the time spent with the cult was very short - so the book is more about them creating lives for themselves. There are some parts that were hard to read, but overall it was not a dark book.

This series just keep getting better and better. The tension was so high all the time that I honestly felt like I couldn't breath. Definitly one of the best books I've read this year.

Task 4: Read 4 books by author's who write under more than one name
Krentz/Castle/Quick

Fits: author writes under 3 pen names: Jayne Ann Krentz, Jayne Castle & Amanda Quick
Pages: 332
Read: 9/24/2020
Stars: 4
This shows as book 2 in some places and book 1 in others. But one thing I like about Castle's books is that even though they are in a series, if you take a long break or accidentally read them out of order you won't be horribly lost. At the same time they aren't bogged down in excess backstory details. These are comfort reads. There's never any real surprises and there aren't any here either. Even her characters tend to have similar appearances. But they are entertaining. The dust bunnies are always adorable and Darwina does not disappoint.

Review: Great read! Emma and James had chemistry in and out of the study/office.
I loved how strong Emma was through everything that she had to go through. I couldn't even imagine being a woman in those times. I wanted to slap her mother, and knock her father out.
James came through in the end. I just knew something was going to happen to lead to this, I just hadn't factored all the people involved in the equation.
Now I'm wondering what's going on with Meg, Simon, and Graham.

I'm conflicted about this. It is a good enemies-to-lovers story (I still wanted to hit them in the head most of the time), the situations presented were ridiculously funny and I usually liked Olive and her family. However, the book couldn't hold my interest with all the drama on the last part. The humor of the beginning was gone and Ethan got so messed up that if this wasn't a romance novel and they didn't get together in the end I would be fine with it.

Jill Shalvis is a favorite of mine. But this book didn't wow me. It was entertaining but there was nothing unique about it. I did enjoy the apartment building setting with a lot of the friends living there. The book also really read like a series set up. The main couples story could have been told in a short story. It was one of those where one has a secret they put off telling which isn't as bad as they think. If she had just told the secret right away they wouldn't have had any issues in getting together. But it's Jill Shalvis so I'll read the whole series.

Review: I don't know why I waited so long to read this book, but I have completely done myself a disservice.
I loved this this book. Minnie is one of the strongest heroines I've read in a historical romance. She had me engrossed from the beginning. She is doing everything she can to not allow the scandal of her past to effect her present/future.
Women of these times had depend on the men in their lives to take care of them, and since her father couldn't she is living with aunts. That is a precarious situation since if something happens the place they live reverts back to a male relative, so her only option is to marry.
Her option is an ass.
I am glad Robert, Duke of Clermont came into her life when he did. Their interactions let he see that the ass she was going to marry was just that.
Robert, along with Oliver and Sebastian make up the Brothers Sinister. They have one another's backs no matter what.
Robert is determined to right the wrongs of the former Duke of Clermont, his father, which leads him to be pitted against Minnie in the Duchess War. He wants her, so he goes after her. She wants him, but knows their station in life (and her past) makes that impossible.
The banter was amazing. Every moment the spent with each other showcased their chemistry.

It wasn't 400. I forgot to update when I changed my book.

Professions in books I'm reading currently:
Reporter
Senator
Profession in book I was planning to start:
Sheriff (law enforcement)
But I'm open to other things.

My preference would be law enforcement. But I’m good with something else as long as it isn’t too obscure to find books.

Rating/Review: 3⭐ I've read this book before, so clearly I liked it as I was willing to read it again. I only have two brief remarks. The first is I found Mara a little annoying through much of the book- her whole ranking system rubbed me the wrong way and made her seem really judgmental (even if she was hardest on herself). And second the Billy/ Billie naming was funny- and it worked in the print version, it didn't work so great in audio though. You could usually figure out which Billy/ie they were talking about from context, but it was a little annoying too.

Task 06. (29)Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession. We choose Law Enforcement

Fits: FBI agents all over the place including the 2 MCs.

This was an entertaining read but not very suspenseful for a romantic suspense book. But I liked the series set up. I also like art themed books. The almost nun turned FBI agent is a cool back story for a main character. The murderer wasn't all that hard to figure out.
