Team 16: Readers Amuck35. Read 7 books first published between 2011 and 2020
Completion Post
I tried to do my due diligence with the Kindle editions but page numbers are all over the place. From now on, I'll let you handle it!
Task 6: Each teammate reads a book another teammate read and rated 4 Stars or higher in the last 3 months. No pass for this task.Team 17 Bookin' It Completion Post Thanks!
Hi Kat - On the "profession" task. I laughed at the chef vs. rancher comparison! We'll be doing 'Athlete". Just to double check...I figured MMA fighter counts? Also, do they have to be currently in the profession? Or could they be former?
And finally...how do you verify the profession? With the book description? MPG?

MMA fighter works. Qualification can come from title, series, precis, tags or lists for this task. And as long as the book qualifies from one of the above, the book will work even if the MC is retired. I imagine to be tagged it needs to be a big part of the character. 😊
ETA: Sorry I didn't include that initially.
Team 3 - Still Loitering LayaboutsTask 10 : (26) Read 750+ pages in books with shifters

Is it just me or have all the ratings on the read shelves disappeared? I also can't see friends ratings at the bottom of a books main GR page.
For books tagged/shelved as children just wanted to double check and make sure if young adult or teen count or not?!?
Team 4: Four-tune Favors Squad Task 4 ~ Stop 30. Read 6 books with nekkid man chest on the cover.

❀ Crystal ✿ - wrote: "For books tagged/shelved as children just wanted to double check and make sure if young adult or teen count or not?!?"No, I would need a tag of something like child, kids, children. YA, NA or teen would not work for this task.
MountainKat wrote: "ETA: Sorry I didn't include that initially. "No worries, Kat! Thanks for answering. :)
Also...am I the only one not getting notifications?
Hi Kat - for the task where a book is set in a location (team chooses). Can the book move between two locations? Eg New York (our choice) and Maine, and still count?

I'm not getting them either.
Evidently another member says notifications are turned off by GR as apparently porn sites are trying to spam gr members.

As long as you can show that it qualifies, that works.
As has been discussed, GR has apparently shut down notifications. I am trying to be proactive about checking this page and will at least make one last check before shutting down this evening. I think everyone should make the effort to check your team threads and here as well until they get things figured out.

Another question please Kat:
We've chosen New York - can the city AND the state be used to qualify for the 'Set In The Same Location'?
Jane (PS) wrote: "We've chosen New York - can the city AND the state be used to qualify for the 'Set In The Same Location'? "I imagine that it would work if you pick New York State (as NYC is in NYS) but not if your setting is NYC. ;) (Being nosy here, LOL!)
Of course this wouldn't work for Kansas and Kansas City as KC is actually in Missouri! :)
Hi Kat,Preemptive question about a farther a head task. :)
76. Read 6 books with a specific item on the cover.
I'm assuming that "weapon" wouldn't count and that it had to be more specific (either gun, sword, etc?) Also, would an item of clothing that a person is wearing work? i.e. shirt, dress, shoes, belt, etc.?
Jane (PS) wrote: "Another question please Kat:We've chosen New York - can the city AND the state be used to qualify for the 'Set In The Same Location'?"
Yes. You were allowed to pick a major city, state if in the US or country outside of the US. So if you picked New York state, then a book set in the NYC would also work.
With the oddball option brought up above, if a team selects Kansas and one book is using Kansas City as it's qualification, you would need it to specify that it wasn't in Missouri as that is the larger and more likely city. 😉
Sassafrass wrote: "There is a Kansas City, Kansas too, DG"Yes, but the one in Missouri is the larger city (and most prominent of the two) so I would assume that more books are set in KC, MO than in KC, KS (and you would have to go through some work to prove the latter if it's not clear in the blurb.)

Ahh, ok, got it. :)

Thanks Kat - we hadn't specified NYC or NYS - so we'll go with NYS to save any confusion 😅
Thanks for everyone's input!!
For the task where we have to read a book with the same colour cover - can it be any edition that has the colour?
Hazel wrote: "For the task where we have to read a book with the same colour cover - can it be any edition that has the colour?"Yes, any edition.

I think I know the answer to this question but I'll ask anyway...we got one of the tasks with number of pages and read even more than the goal but we're still missing one reader. Could we submit before this last person submits their book, given that we already met the task?
