If it doesn't specify that it has to be the same series, everyone can read a different series.

This will be clarified if the task is given. I have always thought of it as part of the same continent, but will research for sure.

If it says less than or more than a number, that number is not included. If it says at least or no more than a number, the number is included.

No.

D.G. | 4477 comments I try not to ask too many questions before a challenge starts (haha) but I was wondering...do teams get the same tasks? or different ones? I'm assuming we have to be ready to read any of the tasks in the lists (I've been checking around other threads and have seen folks planning. :)

Teams will all be on different paths after the first task. Everyone will get the same first task though. When the first task is finished someone on the team posts here and I will confirm and assign the next task, most teams will get a different task from the other teams.

Thanks! Also...are the tasks sequential? i.e. if our first task is task 5, does that mean that we will never get assigned tasks 1-4? or could it be anything on the list? (Last question for now hahaha!)

No, they aren't sequential. They will be random, though I tried to put the harder/longer/more involved task towards the bottom of the list. I will start at the top of the list - maybe random 1-10, then progress down further in the list. At least that is my intent, but in the end it is just random and you can bounce around.

If you live in US, borrowing kindle copy, if book is lending enabled, is also an option. You can ask the group if anyone has that book to loan. I will loan any I have.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments So what happens if no one on your teams lives or is from anywhere where a book has been set? Can we use the whole state, region or country? Example: I live in an area of Massachusetts where no books have been set. But there's certainly a lot of books set in Mass. Nayara is from Brazil but not books set in her town in Brazil. Can we use the whole country?

For a task like that, you can use the state within the US or the country outside of the US. Of course if someone lives in a big city you could just use that. 😊

MountainKat | 31593 comments Sassafrass wrote: "Hi Kat, can team 6 be renamed "Speedy Spine Crackers"?"

Yes, I will get that updated. 😊

MountainKat | 31593 comments Signups are officially closed. (But I will still try to fit in any latecomers if they hurry. 😉)

I will send out a group PM shortly so everyone knows to check in with their teams. The first task is assigned tomorrow!

Please let me know if you have a team name and who is acting as your team leader!

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments I think I know the answer, but thought I would ask anyway. I know we use the first edition kindle for page count, but if it's a cover based challenge can we use any edition's cover?

MountainKat | 31593 comments I did send out a blast to everyone - you all should have received it. We still have a number of people who haven't checked in. Hopefully by morning. 🤞🏼 I'm not worried about most of them as they have participated in many team challenges. I will PM any stragglers directly tomorrow.

Katelyn | 546 comments Question,

For prompt - Read over 1000 pages in books written by duo authors,

Does this have to be a book with 2 authors listed or can it be an author duo that use a pen name together?

message 76: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 2971 comments Task # 59 read a book that is NOT MPG romance ..
Do you mean any book , OR a romance that romance is on a different page than first

message 77: by D.G. (last edited Sep 13, 2020 09:48AM) (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments MPG? Main Page Genre? Does that mean that the genre has to show up in the first page of the book? (I haven't participated in challenges in a while so don't know the acronyms...)

If my definition above is correct, then I can assume that "tagged/shelved" means the genre can be in any shelf page?

message 78: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Is there a list of somewhere of authors who write under different names? (Besides Nora Roberts). The only other one I can think about right now is Shayla Black (who also writes under Shelley Bradley) and I'm already reading a book by her...I bet you that's the task that gets called hahaha!

message 79: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31593 comments Janeylou wrote: "MKat.... Do we need to write a review for our books or is a rating and read date enough"

A rating and read date is required. A review is always welcome.

Only a date was required in the first round and I found I missed the rating a lot, and I noticed others commenting about that as well. One team included reviews or others commented about the books and it made for a lot more conversation. (And made confirming the books more enjoyable for me too!)

Either works, but if two authors aren't listed on the book or cover you will need to link the listed author's page that shows it is a pen name of the two.

In this challenge, the books are not required to be romance but do have to be fiction. For this task, the book can not be MPG Romance, but can have romance on a different page.

Correct - MPG is main page genre. It has to be listed on the main book page under genres. And also correct, if the requirement is 'tagged/shelved', it can be on any page in the list of shelves for that book.

I'm sure there are lists or partial lists, I know some teams in the last round had long lists! Here are two options from a quick search:

I know this is a bit cheeky but how about a brand new book with a GR page but no tags at all. Would that count?

If you read (or could be interested) in sci-fi, the first 4 books in my absolute FAVORITE series are all novellas and just come above the 150 page count. The first book is All Systems Red.
