Dawn by Octavia E. Butler
which takes place aboard the spaceship of an alien race from some other solar system, set 250 years after an unnamed war that nearly destroyed the human race. While the war is not dated, even if you assume it took place in the 1980s when the book was written, that would make it 2237-ish which fits the requirements.
