25.10 Lois’ task: Book Group Books

Book 1. If you belong to a book group, other than the SRC, this can be a book you read for your book group in December 2014, January 2015, or February 2015

Breakfast at Tiffany's, Truman Capote
Goodreads Author: No

I read this for my book club meeting on 12th January 2015. Our group, Ladies who Read, started just as a collection of readers from my Church who kept saying "we should really start a book club", but has since expanded to friends and family. We meet once every two months.

Book 2. Read a book from the Most Popular book club books list. Required: State which list among the options, the date the list was generated, and the position of the book you selected.

Athena is the goddess of wisdom. Read a nonfiction book that makes you wiser by giving you more information about something you would like to know more about.
REQUIRED: In your post, briefly explain the subject that you wanted to know more about.

I read The Invisible History of the Human Race: How DNA and History Shape Our Identities and Our Futures. This book explored one of my favorite topics, micro and macro history of the human race (with some mice and louse history thrown in, along with their cousin, the rat) as it intersected with genetics, which I rarely think about it. It also explores a relatively new science of sorts: genetic genealogy, which has become my new fascination. I am a layman of impossible to exaggerate scientific ignorance, and yet I found the science in this book hard not to obsess over (so much so, I just ended a sentence in a preposition.)
